Alacrity, only because I just installed arch and needed one to copy and paste, I actually wanted to use kitty but It apparently calls home.
>>

This, plus a few lines in the config. It's comfy.
>>
>>100159765
i use two:
st - the main one, basic, apply patches for what you need
mlterm - the only terminal i've found that supports non-mono fonts, this way i can read and write text oriented notes directly in terminal. This is the only way i know of to use vim with non-mono fonts, as gvim doesn't support them either

You don't need a terminal.

Whatever is the KDE default. Who cares, it's a fucking terminal.

BlackBox on Ubuntu.

GNOME Console is nice, but I like BlackBox better due to the tabs being in the title bar.

What, you need more?

I always hide the main toolbar and session toolbar tho. Too much visual bloat out of the box.
>>
>>100159765
iterm. ohmyzsh and powerlevel10k really upgrade that terminal experience as well.

i use foot because it's really fast and doesn't use that much memory

I use Gnome Terminal. There is also Gnome Console, and while I generally like removing feature bloat, the inability to change the color theme (yes, seriously) is unacceptable to me.
OTOH, since it is open source, wouldn't you be able to change the source code and recompile? Reminds me of suckless...

Ctrl <Key>+: larger-vt-font() \n\
Ctrl <Key>0: set-vt-font(d) \n\
Ctrl Shift <Key>C: copy-selection(CLIPBOARD) \n\
Ctrl Shift <Key>V: insert-selection(CLIPBOARD)

All you need.

I use xterm. After a learning curve, I was able to configure it to my needs, and to look good. That includes font, font size and color palette, so I guess that counts as ricing. Xterm is in every linux and bsd, so now when I distrohop, I can just take my config and my usual terminal is there, with zero effort.

For those have more than half a brain and are not afraid of readng a man page or two, xterm is all you need.

the emulator doesn't really matter

cool retro term with an Apple ][ font obv.
>>
Alacritty even tho it's mediocre as hell. But it's the only fast terminal I've found that isn't bloated as hell and has proper font rendering.
>>
I used the plain XFCE terminal for a long time. Then I decided to use Kitty and I enjoyed it a lot because of the colorschemes and sane key bindings. When I lost my setup due to disk failure I tried eterm, urtxv and gnome terminal. I've decided having a cool terminal emulator is pointless.

yep i just use default kde too. for the brief time i used gnome i used default that it shipped with.

kitty with some configurations to make it more like urxvt, namely by adding tabs.

Alacritty. Everything else is bloat.
Tabs, sessions, copy paste can be handled by tmux.
A terminal emulator should just be a surface.

urxvt as a daemon

Kitty, because it supports ligatures.

But then how do you make new tabs without the tool bar button?
>>
>>100159765
I started with Konsole because it's default for KDE but recently switched to Alacritty, it's not only much faster but also takes less RAM.
>>

except when it has a network stack built in and also phones home by default ofc (yes, kitty does)

Konsole, as it displays the running process in its windows chrome w/o additional configuration
