how slow is you'r 'puter?
It's a sandy bridge that's still too fast for my needs.
>>100169864why do you care?
>>10016986490% of the responsiveness of a system comes down to whether it has an SSD or not.
>>100169946ditched spinning rust back in 2O1o
>>100169946>an SSDI have way more than 10 by now.>>100169916Same. The newer CPUs still onky have 16 lanes except you go workstation. And workstation boards rarely have decent motherboard BIOSs, can't underclock unless you're using obscure clocking tools from within Windows.I don't even use Windows, I Hackint0sh since the 2000s.Intel is annoying as shit, AMD copied that, I've seen ryzens also have only a few PCIe lanes, albeit being a faster spec. But once I put in my trusty S-ATA PCIe controller, all PCIe devices go down back to back to PCIe 2.0, so what's the point of a ryzen except "eco blah blah"?
Main PC has an i5-4590 and a GTX 670 4GB. I don't play modern games so it works fine for me. Current laptop is a ThinkPad X61 with a T7250. I need to get a new laptop though, this one fucking sucks.
>>100169985modern CPU's literally are overkill, their only point is to allow soidevs to make their electron desktop apps even more bloated
>>100169960What is your review of the N100 so far?
>>100170145It’s a sub 10 watt haswell quadcore If an i5 4570 can do it, the n100 can as well, so it’s fine for overall performanceAs for the platform, it’s neat to be able to pair gpus with it, kinda wish it was 16 laned but I haven’t seen any real issues with 2 lanesAt some point I’ll get bored and take the cpu heatsink off to measure the holes to make an adapter for a bigger heatsink. I’ve just used a command strip to stick a little 92mm bequiet fan to it to keep it at ambient under load
>>100169994>I need to get a new laptop thoughyou should get a macbook, they are the best laptops
>>100170234I do like MacBooks but I'll probably just get a t480 or something
>>100169960>8GB RAM>750ti>10watt embedded CPU>Windows 8.1Just what the fuck are you doing? This is a NAS or something. You don't seriously use this for everyday computing?
>>100169864That's actually a balling system... 11 years ago.
>>100170042It certainly feels like that, doesn't it? I'd accept a faster CPU for sure, I mean, why not? But whenever I had a few hundred USD put aside for my computer, I always picked the storage upgrades instead of CPU upgrades.I need new screens, the current ones draw too much power. Doesn't really matter because of the power bill, but because I can't use it in the summer without sweating to death. It feels like staring at an oven. To be fair, one screen draws a whopping 300 watts - which is insane. It draws more power than the computer unless fully under stress.
>>100170339I use it to play games, mostly halo MCC, secondlife, cities skylines, cs2 and black ops 2
>>100169960>4gb 750tiI didn’t even know those existed
>>100169864
>>100169864slow enough that software that is supposed to be 'blazing fast' feels slow. I feel it is a requirement that software developers be given 12 year old laptops that overheat if you touch it wrong as their development machines. That'll stop them from developing shitty bloated software that takes a supercomputer to run 'blazingly fast'.
