Is this really the best there is? I need to buy something for my htpc, my K120's cord doesn't reach the couch. Actually I think I'd kill for a regular tv-like remote I could map with xmodmap or something.

The k830 model is much better if you can find it
>>
>>101205627
Are there any ones with trackball?
>>
I got a plate of aluminum and used RTV silicone to glue a 60% keyboard next to one of those large Windows based aftermarket touchpads, for use in bed. I am about to upgrade it to a wireless 80% keyboard and an Apple Magic Pad.
>>

I bought a gyro-based TV remote for the PC. It works well. It's comfy. There's a full keyboard on the back.

>k830 is $400
>k400 is $23

That's quite a price jump, LOL
There's some off brands that appear to have the features of the k830 for about $50.... if they actually work at all.

>>
i have something kinda like this >>101208478 but its an OEM product and so sturdily built i could beat every frogposter on this board over the head with it and it would keep working fine

The pepper jobs remote. + backup cheap ass keyboard/mouse.

If you need a full size keyboard for anything other than initial setup and debugging, its a bad htpc

this kind of keyboard is what you use as a melee weapon not for actual use. Get a decent mech and delete this thread
>>
>>101205627
I have no idea what your problem is with the Logitech kb/pad combos because they work just fine for light stuff, which is all htpc should be.
Bluetooth isn't great though, go for unifying receiver if you have the option. Much more responsive and won't lose it's pairing or get hijacked by another device randomly.
>>
>>101210719
yeah why would i have that on my couch instead of a remote to search for shit on stremio or youtube, i dont need to code on my tv you mongoloid
>>
>>101205627
I use one of those, it's fine.
If you don't mind typing with your thumbs there's shit like the Rii mini.

use joytokey
it's free
you can use one of your sticks to move the mouse, and your triggers as left/right click.
>>
>>101205627
What are your gripes with it? It's been working alright for me, except:
- uses AA batteries which can run out fast unless you turn it off
- mildly annoying if you forget turning it on before using it
- doesn't use Bluetooth but some proprietary tech with less reach + the USB receiver takes up a port on your PC
- still can't figure out what that yellow button is supposed to do
- some keys like arrow and return are smaller than on standard keyboards

For the price it does the job.

I fucking hate this thing. it feels horribly cheap and is terrible to type on. the touchpad has annoying drag to it. absolutely horrible product.
>>
>>101212029
>still can't figure out what that yellow button is supposed to do
It's a mouse click. It is based, because then you can hold the keyboard on both sides, use your thumb to move on the touchpad with right hand, and thumb on left hand to click. Makes for good ergonomics, and best way to navigate with mouse when sitting on the couch.
>>101205627
picrel is cheap and based*

Is SteamOS constantly updated? Does it have a video player? I want to use it once I complete my SFF build.
