how can I make my windows 7 installation as bare-bone as possible?i've already disabled most non-essential services and removed most scheduled telemetry botnet tasks in the task manager.still from time to time, i get some system service demanding cpu time or disk time and this is disturbing my very important real time calculations.basically, i want my windows 7 to run like a gaming console. 99% needs to go to the game and no less at all times.i can not afford even 5 seconds of wasted cycles on some windows botnet process.should I just give up? (it feels like picrelated)
>>101207596describe the process that interrupts in detail or else dont expect a reply.
>>101207596sometimes its dcomlaunch.i've disabled so much shit that i dont even have the event log running and i think it removed a lot of monitoring capabilities from perfmon. I can no longer see which files are used by individual processes.still, I can see how much is written and I often see dcomlaunch using the disk.
>>101207642last time, there was a hog somewhere I couldnt even find it. often audiodg.exe is using 1-2% cpu even if dont have any sound running.the other day, PlugPlay was burning cpu cycles, I solved it by turning on the wifi using the hardware switch.my guess is it was trying to boot the wifi card but couldnt so it just kept doing it over and over.its frustrating when half of it is due to some bugs or telemetry or some other random shit, its like i dont own the computer
i will follow this guide, see what I missed >https://wiki.installgentoo.com/wiki/Windows_7#Post_installation_cleanupthing is, i'm a linux user since almost 20 years and in windows, everything is backwards and incomprehensible
>>101207794if your goal is to run stripped down windows in the sense that you don't want any black book code running without your permission the fastest way would be to develop a fork of reactos to reach parity with at least your use casethis will be enormously expensive to do but at least with AI its possible you could do so with a small time and a couple of years of focus.
>>101207865very funnydoes reactOS run as good as wine at least? or better?
>>101207596based duck
i also did the bare-bones version of this:https://web.archive.org/web/20120711141629/http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-7-service-pack-1-service-configurations/
>>101207903it doesn't run at all, but the reality is thats what you would need to do to deal with prism.>m-muh winelinux isn't any better.
>>101207596these are some of my saved links, maybe you can find something useful, but i wouldn't bother with a win7 fresh install in current yearhttps://www.overclock.net/threads/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds.1156654/https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c2-lUJq74wuYK1WrA_bIvgb89dUN0sj8-hO3vqmrau4https://www.duckware.com/blog/how-windows-is-killing-internet-download-speeds/index.htmlhttps://www.speedguide.net/articles/gaming-tweaks-5812https://www.speedguide.net/articles/network-adapter-optimization-3449
>>101207991wine is far from perfect or even dependable, i always have to manually kill residual processes after i'm finished with whatever i ran with wine.if I dont, these processes accumulate each time I run some wine and can attain 5% of cpu time.its still amazing that it works as it does.
>>101208023perfect.its something very specific that I need win7 for and nothing newer or older than 7 would be better.
>>101208026well you have your mission.if you dont want to do it the only other way is to time travel.
baby ducks would rather use an unsupported old insecure poor performing microshit os instead of switching to something actually good
>>101208062I would if I had a choice
>>101207596OP, if deadshitos is too disturbing for you, its not the software but user problem. You should really talk to a therapist and get a job.
>>101208113-windows 11 (with rufus trick to bypass all requirements)-mac-linuxyeah, you totally have no choice
>>101208201>never used something that had to run on exactly windows 7.>assumes no else does>does not read thread.>recommends windows 11>recommends mac
>>101208688literally all software that works on deadshitos will work on 11.
>>101208023i went through most of it.disabled plenty of devices, assigned affinity, did the recommended foreground/background priority tweak, did the hdd write cache tweak, did most of the recommded ones.the result is much better.I can see a measurable difference!thanks for these links!it helped a lotcombined with my previous tweaks, i think I'm coming close to the end of it.already before starting this thread, windows used 530 mb of ram on a fresh boot (64-bit system) which was very light.these tweaks were the cherry on top
