I've got an old manjaro install on one of my machines.
I'm going to test what happen and report back.
According to /g/ nothing should happen because arch fix all and manjaro devs are idiots, but KDE is hot krash.
Currently I'm looking at +7GB of updates.
And I used pamac, the recommend update method.
Wish me luck.

What do you know!!
It worked.
Font rendering looks better.
Some widgets no longer works (weather + CPU temp)
Probably need to test some stuff, going to upgrade to kernel 6.9.
This went better than expected.

updated to the latest kernel.

Well, if you're talking about the OP image, then read filename.
>>101219132
BTW, I figured out what is the issue, plasmashell was using 101% of the CPU because of the weather applet.
>>101219297
/g/ says it's made by devs that don't know what they do, Plasma 6 is know for "Krash", and me for neglecting to update an arch install for long time.

>Well, if you're talking about the OP image, then read filename.
So you grabbed a screenshot off of youtube when making this thread rather than using your own screenshot.
okay, that's a good excuse.

Whatever man.
The fact it went better than I thought.
The last time I used arch was like 7 years, it was a mess, so I switched to debian.
I installed manjaro on this laptop and forgot about it.
I just remembered it today, and it wasn't with out issues.
>screen locker krashed
>plasmashell 6 is buggy
>python packages are not available
I think because python upgraded from 3.10 to 3.12
Kernel 6.9 is better than 6.8 at CPU usage from what I noticed.
Finally, the whole process took 4 hours.
Downloading the latest ISO and re-installing probably would have been faster.
I started to understand point release better.
Should you remove orphaned packages?
>>
>>101218534
>Some widgets no longer works
Well you did update to a new major release so yeah. Most widgets break from plasma 5 to 6.

I frankly don't believe that many updates could be applied with a conflict
