mainly because i feel like dealing with the bowels of an operating system shouldnt be done in a light pretty manner

lmao boomer eyes cannot cope with dark mode, cry more
>>
dark mode is just better for modern tft displays
we could use light mode if we still had crts, but we don't, so away it goes
or if we had older crts we could do dark mode again in terminal, how we started

but you wouldn't know about that, you're some weird little phone user
ohhh poor you, weird little phone user, you thought you had something to say, but then we called you a weird little phone user

If you are in a dark room or somewhere out at night and the entire screen blasts white bright light into your eyes, its not comfortable at all. Versus if you are using a dark theme during the day.

Why not give the option so that personal preference is accommodated?

That's definitely not why my webcam's auto-exposure dials it down when I'm on a light mode page vs dark mode when I'm on a work call
FUCKING RETARD

it's all part of the zoomer aesthetic. They're all retards who don't bother with setting up proper lighting in their room

It is if you spend all of your time inside. For outside, light mode is better.
>>
>>101220909
seriously who does not use dark mode, enjoy having your eyes permanently blinded by white light brighter than the sun. i force dark mode in chrome and everything i can, only people who dont know how to use tech or insane people dont use dark mode.
>>
I prefer dark mode but some sites have zero clue what a proper dark theme is. The colors should be soothing and relaxing to the eye, not just black and white. That kills my eyes much worse than any light theme.

Yeah well I think light mode is ugly. Also tabs instead of spaces, and braces go on the same line. What now chucklenuts?
>>

Yes and now, due to age, they can't cope with it any more
>>

>>
>>101220716
This. It resulted in less screenburn and didn't flicker so bad on old 60 Hz CRTs. For these reasons I used dark mode until 75-85 Hz CRTs were common. I still use it all the time on my OLED phone since it runs less LEDs so it saves battery and puts less wear on the display. And I often use it on my PC if I'm using it at night.

I don't get why contrarians like OP bitch and moan about it and attribute it to "trannies". If you don't like it, turn it off. More options is better. Even better would be including an option to change the color and size of every UI element like we had in ancient versions of Windows, but nooooo OP will never support that, he just wants this option removed.

My phone's AMOLED uses less power with dark modes, so get fucked.
>>
>>101220300
don't worry, this skank popped up in my feed as well.

dark mode when done well is good (similar contrast ratio to standard) but most of the time it's done extremely poorly with garbage contrast ratio that makes it harder to read everything
>>
>>101220300
> likes staring into the sun
> blames young’uns for looking at the stars at night instead

A computer screen is not a book page. It has a brightness of its own, so we hate light mode, naturally
>>
The room where I mostly sit is very bright, so during the day I have trouble reading with dark mode even at 100% brightness. So for me it´s light during the day and dark at night.
>>

you seem to be a healthy but retarded faggot. you will never know how fun migraines are.

When I use read light text on a dark background the streaks of white get burned into my retina.

Why does this happen to me?
>>

>eyes permanently blinded by white light brighter than the sun
Lower your screen brightness and turn on some lights. Sitting in front of a bright screen in darkness will ruin your eyesight even with dark mode enabled.
>>
test
>>
>>101225392
I don't think people realize how low their screen brightness should be. light mode is far superior to dark so long as you select the appropriate brightness for your environment. I will admit that if you are sitting in a completely dark room and have to use a computer that dark mode is probably better, but you REALLY should not be doing that. turn a lamp on in the corner of a room, move your screen brightness down a bunch, and use a light theme.

I honestly don't understand why so many people use this whole "dark mode" and pretend it's better for their eyes. Each time I take a look at white text on black background for minute or longer, I see white lines everywhere before my eyes, before effect fade away after several seconds. This clearly can't be good.

the real reason you are using dark mode is because you are afraid of the gay porn becoming a permanent addition to the screen
>>
>>101225535
I don't understand why you pretend dark mode is white text on a black background, when it's actually using shades of grey or yellow / brown which are much easier on the eyes than using

Black on white on a computer monitor is insane, we use that on printed paper because the paper does not produce light, computer monitors do, it's completely nonsensical to use the same color style as if they're the same thing. Paper is white such that it reflects ambient light and text on paper is black to make it as distinct as possible in all lighting conditions, but on a computer monitor that produces its own light anyway it's entirely stupid to use a color scheme which maximizes the amount of artificial light it's producing by using white backgrounds which serve no actual purpose and do not improve visibility. Your monitor is not reflective, there's no need to make everything white. It doesn't need to catch ambient light to be visible.
