oh my wholesomeness he put a kawaii anime catgirl next to an OS logo, I have to transition now!!

I moved my entire system setup+dotfiles and such to one configuration.nix file a while ago, but I'm holding off switching because of the retarded childish drama.
It's such a shame, the software does exactly what I want it to.

Actually I need less, you can remove the right part of that image.

I prefer GNU / Linux / Guix + Nonguix

this. if I leave arch, I would look at the stops in the way to alpine, not nix
>>
>>101224198
i like the implementation of guix better than nix, but it has no software

Suffering from not enough users syndrome
Some software is months out of date, having to build stuff that can take up to an hour due to no substitute
I like guix, but using it is a lot more involved than nix because you have to learn to package stuff yourself or Google and hope to find a random channel that someone updates
>>
Wow wasn't going to use this distro but now that you put a tranime girl in it I'm going to install it right away

my experience with nix has been really troubling for the past month (been playing with it).

at least I got nvidia drivers running, but yeah I feel like I'd be better going back to Debian. Still, I love the idea of nixos way too much and I want it to keep growing and maturing. I might be a bit too retarded for now though, will have to keep learning.

Just bump your channel (or update your nixpkgs input if using flakes), bro. Then fix your config for inevitable changes to options (release notes can be useful here) and you should be golden. You might want to look at bumping stateVersion value (things like moving data directories for software is usually gates behind that), but you can do it whenever.
>>
>>101225370
this, and no one who praises guix has ever addressed this
>>
>>101228862
I guess I'll have to get up my lazy ass and actually try and bump it. Thanks. I really should dedicate some more time to learning more about nix before making yet another mess on here lol

24.05 is stable now, however it seems it's still being worked out on the package/search. It's stable iso is available on the site. 2.23.0 is the unstable, but not showing up as of yet in the package/search.
