Cropping a pony gen to fit it into a nice 1.5 resolution does improve the diffusion but the image looks a little unbalanced. Outpainting is probably the better solution but that takes an extra step.

It's one of those things where if you're not aware of what's missing, it isn't noticeable, and I much prefer the details on the cropped version with the correct resolution/aspect ratio, but it'll bug me individually at least. Despite that one limitation, using a realistic 1.5 hiresfix on a cartoon pony gen works well.
