Is this the closest thing I can get to Windows Movie Maker on loonix? I like it a lot so far, but I'm just wondering if there are better tools for the job. Really just want to make simple videos for my family.

I used to use Kdenlive but NVENC support was buggy so I switched to Shotcut and it's pretty good.
>>
>>101223754
Just run it through Wine
>>
>>101223754
Just use kdenlive.
The UI is less confusing than Windows Movie Maker.
>i want a perfect copy of x
Is always a stupid take. If you want x, then use x.

Are you shills now claiming that ffmpeg is prone to crashing, just because there's a qt frontend to it?
>>
>>101223754
Try pitivi. Its pretty good.
>>
>>101223754
use shotcut, last time i used openshot (admittedly several years ago) it was very lacking in features

Shotcut

Another vote for ShotCut from me.
The UI is clunky, it's unintuitive, but you can actually get the job done.
I in no way edit videos professionally, only to cut out the cruft, without any effects, except maybe fade ins or outs or the occasionaly text overlay, so the only I thing I'm comparing it to is Windows Movie Maker and a cracked Adobe Premiere we used once to make a school video, and that was two decades ago.

it's the flatpak version. im on debian stable and the deb version is broken. have no idea why it's running as superuser.
>>
>>101232284
That sounds bizarre, I've never seen that with flatpaks before

I'm using an old version of MATE (am on RHEL, don't ask) and it still has that bug. It's not actually running as root though.

Why don't you stop jumping through hoops and just use windows when needed?
>>
>>101232848
I have a Windows 7 embedded VM for when I need to use Office 2010. Tried installing Movie Maker 2012 on it but it kept complaining about a lack of VRAM. I'm not technically competent enough to go fucking around with config files just for a stupid video editor that probably wouldn't work well in a VM anyway. Openshot works for most things.
>dual-boot windows and linux!
fuck no lol. id rather buy an old computer just for legacy windows programs. in fact, i might do that.
>>
>>101232768
Huh. Pretty interesting. Thanks for the info anon
>>
>>101223754
Shotcut
>>
openshot is by far the simplest
shotcut is ass
krashden useless
davinci overkill for what you want
>>
>>101223754
The progress is too slow, enjoy waiting 10 years for another version.
>>
Don't listen to the shills kdenlive is all you need (and KDE in general).

They're just mad they don't have an icon view in their file picker :^)
