(I made this thread yesterday and it got no replies so I'm posting it earlier in the day this time. If the same thing happens again I will accept that no one gives a shit.)
There's only two options for immutable root desktop systems if we are being entirely real. Like, sure I can set up the same shit on regular arch or debian and avoid trusting more infrastructure links, but that would be much more liable to break than something that's old enough to be time tested or funded enough to be reliable. So what would it be if you had to set it up yourself? Ostree-based distro from pro-authority wagecucks or squashfs-based live distro from anti-authority faggots?

or better yet, ask a competent forum, like reddit.

Ask your question without a damn monologue no one cares about, idiot. This advice is also applicable to life in general.

ubuntu with snaps only is immutable

First off they are now called atomic.
Ostree ones are neat but the issue at least for Debian is too many packages have scripts.
Debian would need to go the opensuse micro is route which relies on btrfs snapshots for an atomic distro

I've always had the idea of running an immutable system with controllable and auditable forensic artifacts but never really cared enough to actually research the topic seriously. I also like functional programming and the idea of having all my state be in readable text based config files and not some windows registry tier binary file somewhere in my dot folders.
So sorry, I cannot help you but I am glad that the idea seems to be gaining popularity.
