>>101232904i like puppy spreadsheet program it used to have statistical bar graphs
I don't get it. So distrowatch says it's independent. But it says bookworm all over the place? Ex-independent maybe? Once?
>>101233347Puppy seems to be a set of scripts that you can base on a handful of mainstream distros, so in the end it's still that distro, just with puppy theming.
>>101233347Independent, with various sub distributions that are package-compatible with big distros.

Last time I tried Puppy it had a lot of Puppy-specific tools and way of doing things. Or am I thinking of TinyCore?
>>101232904I like Puppy, but it's really weird. There's alot going on under the hood that I do not understand, and there doesn't seem to be any docdumentation. If you treat it like immutable Windows XP running off a USB stick with a package manager it's great. It also always feels kinda slow. That might be the compressed filesystem.

>>101233181Great tiny distro. Used it before I switched to full-time Arch.
>>101232904How's the Debian based image? can you use SystemDware on it?
>>101232904I'll always recall it fondly. It was one of the few distros I could get up and running when I was first starting out. Really liked the small size and UI matched how I thought a UI should work. Major issue was I couldn't get the internet to work with it so I ended up dropping it and moving on. That was like 10 years ago, glad to hear it's still around. I should load up a new copy as a secondary support OS and have some fun.

>>101233733That looks more like "dependent on multiple distros" rather than "independent".Does it have an actual independent base or does it always need a parent distro to derive from?
