Capacitors. Charge up a 2 farad capacitor and ask the audience what happens if you touch the terminal. Then what happens if you touch both. Audience bored when you are not electrocuted. THEN short it with a screwdriver. Watch and record the audience shitting their pants. If nothing else, they will be awake, coffee or not. Maybe have a disclaimer for hearth attacks, trauma, trigger, etc...
