Will GNOME ever support resolutions higher than 1080p?
>>101239402No, what would be the usecase for that?Unironically, mate. Do you know any rich gnome users who can afford high res displays?
>>101239402if gnome is crap why do you have to lie about it, op?i have a 4k laptop that runs gnome and it doesn't look like that
>>101239548>uses hacky extensions and experimental settingssorry, i don't want to rice my system
>>101239402No because it's a Microsoft attempt to sabotage Linux, if not, one of they're more successful anti competitive projects.
>>101239402doesn't GTK, and clutter by an extension, support dynamic layout placement? How come shell only has 2 size options for app grid?
>>101239548Pro tip:If you have to open a windows registry style gconf window to enter some weird term in something that is called "org.gnome.mutter experimental-features", then it is NOT supported.
>>101239402GNOME looks fine for me but I run 4K@200%, so that's kind of basically 1080p but with everything big and beautiful and crisp.
>>101239642Not him but I didn't have to do any of that. I run Debian 12.6 with Gnome on a Dell 4k display and it works flawlessly.
>>101239659so you can't run it higher than 1080p

>>101239402It's so funny how GNOME is stuck with an Windows 8 full screen app grid.Everybody hated it on windows and Microsoft realized their mistake. Meanwhile GNOME doubles down on it and keeps forcing this shit.
>>101239402GNOME app gid literally got developed as a copy to iOS 13
>>101239402works the other way around too, pic related is what happens when your resolution is too small, lol
>>101239402>>101239786A grid that adapts is, according to them, too complex to develop and there's no clear use case for it.
>>101239786Memes aside, GNOME devs really are mentally ill. They honestly think there is nothing wrong with this. I hope by the time my LTS runs out I don't have to "upgrade" to this fucking mess. I already hate the non-resizeable sidebar in the GTK4 Files, and the new text editor.
>>101239720I wish the icons were on the screen at all times like iOS. I hate having to click the top corner then the bottom opposite corner to get to my apps. Too many steps
>>101239786Not gonna lie, looks hilarious.
>>101240513i think you can make it so that the hot corner opens the overview, but clicking it opens the app grid. at the very least, you can move the apps button back to the left side of the screen like it was in GNOME 3.
>>101239402KDE doesn't have this problem. Gnome jannies are also sabotaging wayland by stalling any merge requests on gitlab.
