not gonna disagree but the market for anything remotely close to full size is fucked right now. TKLs are more competitive.

If I'd bought just the board, pcb, and alu plate (and extra feet, because why risk it), that would have been 276 usd + shipping.

An f1-8x v2 from keebsforall is 415 usd + shipping.

Unless the shipping fees are wildly different—and maybe they are, I don't know—that's a difference of 140usd, not $30

are there any switches or keyboards that are comparable to the quietness of chiclet keyboards that laptops use. online nobody seems to care about the noise and even praise each other over being the loudest
everything i've tried is at least 10 db louder than my laptop and i don't want to wake up my dog he just stares at me when i type
>>

Silent switches pretty much do what it says on the tin. Most youtuber are fags who type extra quiet when they test silent switches, but this is more or less what they sound like:

I was also under the impression it's same manufacturer as Swagkeys (just because the bottoms look similar, and both are abs pbt mix) and the swagkeys keycaps I have are good.

Yeah Mode charges more money than Swagkeys does—but the designs are unique to Mode and pretty good imo. I am not entirely against paying a little more for pretty caps.

>dogshit
I have Swagkeys and Keykobo caps, and I can't speak to the sound difference because I haven't tried using the Keykobo yet, but the legend quality is about the same. And thickness seems similar. So I really don't think "dogshit" is warranted
>>
>>101508533
>So I really don't think "dogshit" is warranted
For the price? I think it is. I'm pretty sure you can find keycaps from the same manufacturer on AliExpress/Taobao for like 20 bucks, but you do you if you think the designs are worth it. I personally think the absurdly oversized alpha legends on Mode keycaps are hideous.

>shipping valuable consumer electronics on demand is just like bulk shipping agricultural product
and this is all besides the fact that it's shipping by AIR—whether that's inefficient or not, it does definitely cost more to the seller. This is a seller, by the way, that makes under 300 keyboards a year, which don't all ship to the same place or at the same time.

Speaking of Amazon's "better rates"—those don't even make them a viable option for people ordering from Singapore. I saw a keyboard forum post by a guy living there who said their packaging is too large so he never buys from Amazon because shipping ends up being insanely expensive. (Not 50 cents)

I'm sure that's Amazon just making a little extra money by shutting out the singapore market entirely. When you ask for $100 to ship something, and they cancel the order, you win

The most heated internet arguments always involve an element of mutual coping, where each anon is attempting to demolish the other's cope and fortify his own.

Thus when you get a trade closeted homo and a gay open homo arguing it gets very intense. One must cope about not enjoying the thing he desires, about being a hypocrite who has to hide a part of himself. The other must cope about taking dicks in his butt, being a fag, having AIDS, etc

Likewise here we see one anon definitely coping about the fact he paid $60 for "shipping", an amorphous nothing that just moves the product from the warehouse to the goon cave. He has to prove he's not a "sucker". On the other hand, this is /mkg/, so you know exactly what his interlocutor is coping about. Doesn't mention a keyboard shipping counter-example, enters the thread griping about expenses... that's right, he can't afford this stuff! Because he's smart and knows the value of a dollar, unlike these retards. And that's what he will prove, however many posts it takes.

Browse avito for like 500 days straight until a sav/searb/sar/hasr0 pops up at a decent price kek. Or wait, there's a couple guys who literally have 100+ BNIB OG SAVs from some old Russian warehouse/bank, they're going to sell some eventually at a more reasonable price than current market rate.

If you don't care about rarer dyesub models and just want any OG dyesub then German are pretty easy to get for 80 euro or so from EU. Try messaging Wodan on Deskthority, he has a bunch of ISO German dyesubs. ANSI hard to get under 200 unfortunately, going to have to search for a while if you want good price. I've a set or two in the low 100s recently but it's really rare.

Might be able to luck out on local flea markets, I've seen Yugo dyesubs a couple years back on a Romanian flea market, and have gotten some Cherry Olympia switches for cheap.

It's not uncommon to experience brief pain when switching to a different layout. Just make sure that your posture is good and that you aren't subjecting any part of your arms to unnatural movements or resting positions. The goal of ergonomics is to encourage as neutral a posture as possible, and what this means depends highly on
each individual. For each change you make, think to yourself "Does this increase or decrease stress on my muscles?"

>Enlighten me on Topre. What makes it good?
I haven't used a Topre yet, just ordered an HHKB finally after probably over ten years of debating on it. New job, I like to change things and this is one of those things.

The prevailing reason I bought it is because I hear good to great things about Topre. Certainly nothing bad and many concede that at the end of the day it's simply pleasurable to type on all day long. There's some "it" factor if you will that it has that mechs don't.

Then there's the analogy that seems to ring true to a lot of people
>Your keyboard is your saddle, your computer is your horse
>You may have several horses in life, but your saddle goes from one to another

Basically that if there's one keyboard you'll ever get to use, this will be it.

Seems to be a thing with all MX heavy tactiles developing leaf issues over time, possibly due to the bump on the slider bending the external leaf. Depends what you mean by nice. If you mean big heavy metal case sound probably not. But otherwise any plastic keyboard that is tuned well will sound alright (springs oiled if necessary, stabilizers greased up, switches broken in, dampening foam if you like). I think Leopold are great but Cherry springs are pingy so you would need to desolder it and that's a pain with OEM solder. Keychrons are alright hotswap boards and cheap.
