I have an Xperia 1 IV. Previously, I had a OnePlus 6. Very different phones, I like both of them but I can definitely see how the Xperia is not a mainstream phone:
First of all, it's really expensive. I bought it used, so I paid about a fourth of its original price.
It has a manual camera so you really have to know how to select appropriate shutter speed, ISO and white balance if you want to take a really good photo. The automatic camera is really poor, phones from 8 years ago will take better pictures that the "auto" mode on this 1000+ dollar phone.
The screen is very nice, the speakers are also quite good, they can actually fill the room almost as well as a small Bluetooth speaker.
The battery is poor and it charges slowly, takes more than an hour to go from ~15% to 90% (I usually don't let it go all the way down to zero and I don't charge it to 100%), and I get around 6 hours of screen-on-time.
Fingerprint reader is very fast and reliable. The phone itself is also very fast, browsing is fast, using apps is fast, I got used to how fast it was and totally forgot about it until one day I got to use my dad's Samsung S22 and the whole time I thought "Wow, what year is this from? It feels like it has 4GB of ram"

I just removed my hydrogel screen protector and... holy shit! The difference in the quality of the screen is astronomical. Can't believe I felt for the hydrogel meme and actually used it for so long without noticing any difference. Now I see it. Also, I couldnt put it properly so there were some bubbles on the screen.
I'm currently (at the moment) not using any screen protector but I'm gonna switch to a glass protector today before I fuck things up.
