Yeah, I wish it was cheaper too; I originally wanted to buy it before price changes fucked me over. It NEVER went below 240$ dollars in my country, neither on Amazon.de, and these days you can only buy it for 300$ or more.
>>
Whatever happened to those prototype fanless CPU coolers that were essentially just spinning blocks of copper? Did any of them ever make it to market?
>>
>>101520118

The only thing I can think of that mght have been different is that when I switched on XMP before, I had the system in "Intel defaults" mode. This time I've got it in the mobo default mode which is "asus OC profile" maybe some of the dynamic memory shit is goverening it better when it not running at JEDEC settings.

Anyone got and input on that? My last mobo is 10 years old and had DDR3. A lot of shit has changed since then in the enthusiast world.
>>
If i'm writing a crapload of images to an ssd (~30k@120gb total) am i going to wear it out too quickly, and if so what drive tech would perform best for this task?
>>
>>101520248
You have to make sure you can actually fit this.
If your GPU is big it can sit right over the NVMe slot and you won't be able to use one of these.
Make sure you know where the slot is in the mobo and make sure you know the dimensions of your GPU.
>t. someone who wasted a lot of money on a mobo with multiple pcie slots but cant use because of my FAT gpu

>>101520476
I could've shaved maybe 100-200$ if I went to the grey market to buy as many components as I can; I only did so for the SSD, hence why it's the heatsink version. A lot of those prices come from taxes; such is life.
>>101520486
With the GPU in PCI_E1 and SSD in M2_2 it fits.

at least it seems fixable with context restore, but then it creates possible stability issues with booting after days/weeks
>>
How do I add 16 SATA ports to a motherboard?

It's something that's fixable with BIOS updates. Other manufacturer boards have their issues too. AM5 platform is pretty mediocre overall unless you're paying premium prices for the board.

But for most people a $60 1TB SSD werks just fine.
>>
>>101520611
>>101520753
I would recommend 7700xt/4070 super instead.
Check recent hardware unboxed video on it, ddr4 is starting to wear out on recent games. Up to 30% performance loss in some cases.
>>
If I were to bench test a build, just to check the BIOS actually boots, do I need to fit my CPU cooler? If I've misaligned my CPU I don't want to deal with removing the cooler, but I don't want my CPU to set on fire on the table.

>5800x3d when it comes to bottleneck
I run a 4080 Super with my 5800x3D and I haven't run into any real bottleneck scenarios yet, though I do run 1900mhz IF with low latency OC'd RAM so it probably helps.
>What's the ideal GPU
What expectations do you have? Do you care about Ray Tracing? What resolution/refresh rate are you playing at?
Generally, I'd say the 4070 Super/7900GRE is a sweet spot for performance/price ratio. There's not much these GPUs can't handle even at 4k if you pass on Ray Tracing.

If you know you won't be using RT/PT, AMD has better performing GPUs in rasterization for the price with more VRAM.
NVIDIA offers a lot more features: better upscaling/frame generation, general AI workloads performance, better encoding, RTXVSR and a lot of other very specific stuff.
>>
>>101520269
that's alot of Intel CPU's in the OP

7900 GRE is the logical choice. But 7800 XT and 7700 XT work too.

That retard used cables from a different PSU, daisy-chained them, and the PSU was probably shit as well. /g/ loves to spam this webm to shit on Windforce, even though it's bad for different reasons. Catastrophic fails like this can happen on less power-hungry cards like the 4080.

They both cheaped out. Prebuilts are synonymous with cheap PSUs. FWIW the whole reason to buy a prebuilt is so that you don't have to worry about that shit - if it dies you call them up and demand a replacement.

>>101519565
>those seem like pretty high temps even for an OC, does it perform the same at stock clocks?
Temperature will be worse on stock settings because it'll lack a voltage cap.

Daily setting is undervolted to 0.95V with a maximum core boost OC of 2715MHz, resulting in about 76°C heat-saturated temperature. This is very close to the stock setting's average core boost.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-super-founders-edition/42.html

You need to set more aggressive, and louder, fan curves to lower temps. But the performance gain isn't worth running a louder system.
https://youtu.be/nwtPrG14uQk?t=1600
I'm happy with the card, but people claiming FE cards are silent never owned a video card with a better cooler.
>>
>>101522451
interesting, I always thought FEs were good performers but that's essentially on par with the cheaper AIBs. is the card at least silent?
>Daily setting is undervolted to 0.95V with a maximum core boost OC of 2715MHz
that's close to what I settled for. I run 0.990v at 2790MHz most the time and 0.900v at 2550MHz when I do longer sessions of less-demanding games (XIV, indies, emulation etc)
the performance while undervolting is very impressive with the 4080, it's like a 4-5% FPS loss for massively reduced power draw and thermals
>>

>>
>>101522743
>is the card at least silent?
They're usually the better dual fan models, an obvious exception to the ASUS x Noctua cards.
The FE's design goal is to service both gaming & workstation builders at base MSRP, with compact form factor in mind.
Some PC-building companies that aren't large enough to design their OEM cards prefer to bulk-order FE cards because they're relatively small and assembled by Foxconn.

I have higher OC profiles saved but I don't need them for the games I play (2775MHz @ 0.985V, 2835MHz @ 1V, etc).
I'm just disappointed the cooler can't sustain a 2900MHz heat load at the stock fan curve.

>How do I decide on what 4080 Super to buy?
Buy one that fits your case, including the additional 35mm clearance recommended for the power cable.
FE doesn't stand out in terms of cooling, noise, & OC thermal/power headroom. But you may like the design, it's got better case compatibility, and the overall product is good considering its base MSRP.

For AIB models, buy the largest one that comfortably fits your case. The larger the heatsink, the better.

>should I wait?
Wait® if you can, don't say you need a 4080 Super to play Gelded Ring.

s per Intel PR Comms:

Based on extensive analysis of Intel Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors returned to us due to instability issues, we have determined that elevated operating voltage is causing instability issues in some 13th/14th Gen desktop processors. Our analysis of returned processors confirms that the elevated operating voltage is stemming from a microcode algorithm resulting in incorrect voltage requests to the processor.

Intel is delivering a microcode patch which addresses the root cause of exposure to elevated voltages. We are continuing validation to ensure that scenarios of instability reported to Intel regarding its Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors are addressed. Intel is currently targeting mid-August for patch release to partners following full validation.

Intel is committed to making this right with our customers, and we continue asking any customers currently experiencing instability issues on their Intel Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors reach out to Intel Customer Support for further assistance.

July 2024 Update on Instability Reports on Intel Core 13th and 14th Gen Desktop Processors - Intel Community

I'll be on the thread for the next couple of hours trying to address any questions you folks might have. Please keep in mind that I won't be able to answer every question but I'll do my best to address most of them.

Thanks

I agree on the whole but do understand that that extra 10% comes purely from clock speed so will drive those games that don't scale off cache. Many of which are simple competitive games where you're likely to a) be CPU bound and b) genuinely benefit from the boost. If that's the sort of thing you play then it's not a bad deal (even if you should have bought Intel in the first place).

What performance difference, if any, is there between a 3-fan AIO and a 2-fan AIO?
>>
>>101524482
it's a Windows/Fromsoftware issue. Fromsoftware compiles shaders at drawtime like it's DX11 when the game is DX12 the game can pre compile shaders but their programmers are dumb not to take advantage. Windows cant inject DXVK to DX12 games so you're stuck. The fix is Linux.
>>
>>101524489
If you are thinking of buying a 2 fan AIO then you're better of buying a dual or even triple tower cooler for half the price. 360mm AIO costs twice the price of a tower cooler, so a better comparison is 360mm AIO vs tower coolers. Of course AIO cool a lot better but costs a lot more. Double the price and only cools things down on average 25% better. It has the plus of being silent too if you care about it that much.

Okay anon, about to install some M.2 SSDs on my Asus Crosshair X670E Extreme but being an outdated oldfag years ago on my X99 platform you didn't have to fuck with any of the thermal pad shit and certainly not the "bumpers"

>Arrangement of M.2 drives
Given restriction of lanes and whatnot it seems to go like this I think
>M.2 Slot 1 on board itself PCI-E 5.0 that I think can be used without fucking with anything else
>M.2 Slot 2 on board itself PCI-E 5.0 , BUT will gimp your Main PCI-E x16 slot down to X8 if used
>Optional M.2 card adapter thing that goes into the 2nd PCI-E x16 , gimping first slot to x8 and/or 2nd slot to x4 depending if M.2 Slot 2 is enabled or not
>ROG Gen-Z2 "kinda like a big fucking DIMM with heatsinks on it and a special slot" adapter card, which has 2 M.2 slots on it, one PCI-E 5.0 and one PCI-E 4.0. Either the 5.0 is CPU and the 4.0 is chipset or they'r both chipset?
Either way, I think the best arrangement to avoid gimping one's GPU which is in PCI-E x16 slot 1 is either
>M.2 Slot 1 on board, then GEN-Z2 1 or 2 M.2s, for a total of 3 drives without fucking with anything
>If you only need 2 drives, maybe just go right for Gen-Z2, but I hear that chipset stuff is more limited than CPU; not sure if the faster half of GenZ2 is CPU or not.
This sound reasonable? I have 2TB Samsung 990 and 2TB Samsung 980 so far both of them are single sided drives I think.

>thermal pads
Most of these have built in thermal pads. Sometimes the instructions talk about changing them depending on if your drive is double or single sided etc.. I think all mine are single etc. I also bought some (cheap but high powered) Arctic TP-3 I could use instead if I cut to size, butnot sure if worth it. Can I just use defaults or do you really need to fuck around with different size/thickness pads based on single or double size?

>Lastly, "bumpers"
Single size, it says included "bumper" in the mounting for some drives? Necessary?

Does this look about right for an SN770 1TB on a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot? Advertised speeds are up to 5150 MB/s but that's probably for PCIe 4.0.
>>
>>101526076
there are some situations where PCI-E have significantly higher performance, especially those PCI-E 3.0 x4 or faster, but yeah I know that its not universal and that SATA ones pretty much just as good. I also have a Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SATA drive which I plan to add to the same system, but these days the way that the increasing expectation for M.2 SSDs (and if you're going M.2, its a waste to not have it keyed for PCI-E) as the primary or perhaps only storage, cases with shrinking amounts of and space for bays (even 3.5/2.5", much less 5.25") both internal and especially external, M.2 PCI-E seems to be the preference for SSDs.

I'm rather annoyed that ever since the "HEDT / high end desktop" platforms have either vanished or gone hard for workstation/server junior grade side both in price and focus (as opposed to enthusiast overclocking and mixed use as they used to be in the X58/X79/X99/X299 or X399 days, seeking both single thread performance and gaming stuff as well as highly parallelized productivity tasks etc) , that higher end CPUs and chipsets like Z790 or X670E don't have more PCI-E lanes and provide PCI-E slots that can support them. With most performance builds having at least 1 M.2 SSD and higher end mobos advertising support for 4-6 or so, it seems stupid that using any more than 1 or maybe 2 and knowing exactly which slots to use, you may end up cutting down the lanes somewhere else. Also because of how PCI-E seems to work as I understand , it isn't just bandwidth so say... if you a GPU with PCI-E 3.0or 4.0 support (even the newest NV 4000 and AMD 7000 I think are only 4.0 spec), if your 5.0 x16 slot gets its bandwidth cut down to x8 because you put a drive in M.2_2, it isn't like it just functions equivalently because 5.0 x8 = 4.0 x16. However, your GPU only is 4.0 spec, so when it sees .x8, it runs at 4.0 x8 which is (last I checked) is like a 15% decrease in performance on a 4090/790XTX. More lanes!

First build? When you need them, but always all of them at once. It's going to suck if you buy RAM for example but can't test it out because you waited for a CPU to go on sale. Then you find out the RAM is busted and now you can't return it.
First PC, always buy everything together, usually when the big stuff are on sale, like CPU and GPU.
If it's just buying parts, then things usually go on sale during black friday or cyber monday in the US. Monitors and other paraphernalia go on sale during the start of the school year, so Sept or December during holidays.

It matters in most new games, even without RT, especially if you're considering value. The image quality of DLSS Quality at 1440p or 4K is usually better than or equivalent to full resolution according to AMDumboxed testing, with of course an often 30% performance boost.

Overall the 7900 series can be fantastic cards for the price
>Nvidia features
The faster we can get away from proprietary Nvidia garbage the better.
>Upscaling
Yes, at the moment DLSS is better than the alternatives in many situations. However FSR and XeSS are both open source and widely compatible and can work quite well especially when you're not fucking around with picking comparisons from screenshots and actually playing the game. This doesn't mean that FSR doesn't need to get better and they have been, but considering that unlike DLSS and even XeSS they're not using any AI model computations, that's what they need to start doing in FSR4 and from what I've read, they will.

Much like how AMD created a FSR 3.x FrameGen feature (thanks to NV's stupidity of restricting it to 4000 series only for their DLSS frame generation) that could be an option even alongside someone using DLSS for the upscaling itself, AMD could put their LLM/Deep Learning based FSR feature in 4.x for cards that could support it regardless of manufacturer. Lets hope they get it going soon

I have a 3090 and it has served me well but I've grown tired of NV's proprietary focus and think AMD should be supported for taking open spec and open source as they often do. Overall, much like the 3090 I picked up just before the price hike, I think the only NV card I'd buy is a 4090- if I wanted the top performance, RAM, NV features, and cared enough about it to throw extra money. Below that however, I'd easily go for AMD in most situation
>>
>>101525903
It only makes sense to buy used if you can get a substantial discount over retail. With a $1000 graphics card like a 4080 Super, a warranty can come in handy. The latest rumors say that the RTX 5070 will have approximately 4080 performance, so you'll have to get a 4080 really cheap on the used market to make buying used worth it, which is unlikely

>but the solution is to built a cheap nas for mass storage and focus on a single, high performing ssd for local use
this is honestly the best advice regarding mass storage. don't put your archived data that you access maybe once or twice a year in your main PC. build a separate, much cheaper PC and dump all your shit there. use some nas os and call it a day. you don't even need to leave the storage pc on all the time like a traditional nas in a home lab setting. I have two NVMes in my PC, one for the OS and one for all random shit I use. Once I'm done I delete them. If I want to get the file back again I turn on my storage PC, transfer the files, then shut down the pc again.
this way you can build a custom storage pc that can be easily upgradeable to have up to 24 hdds if you want. and you can easily start out small with only 4 hdds.
>>
>>101520611
Always depends on the games you're playing and your resolution. The CPU will provide a fixed FPS regardless of resolution, so it'll be up to your graphics card to drive whatever resolution you choose. Single player games are generally heavier on GPU than multiplayer games. If you're looking for value without being cheap, the best option is a 1440p monitor with a 4070 Super for all around gaming

Yes.
Next best thing is to use a riser cable, but you might have to sacrifice speed depending on how long the cable is.
Luckily most server mobos are cheap now. The previous two gen's server mobo is only around $800 used on ebya.

Anyone familiar with M.2 stuff above?

>Thermal Pads
Do I need to really swap them in thickness if I'm using Samsung 990 Pro / 980 Pro 2TB models which I am to understand are single sided? The default config seems to be for dual sided modules, but I wonder if the thickness is really an issue. For the 2 slots on the board itself, there are pre-applied thermal pads both on the back of the shroud/guard that would be on top of the drive, and then there's a pad below the slot/over the PCB it seems too. I'm also curious ifi t would be worth the trouble to replace any default pads with Arctic TP-3 which (along with ThermalGrizzly MinusPad Extreme) seems to be some of the highest performance thermal pads out there.

>Rubber Bumper
As pic related, it talks about cutting out part of the lower pad and installing a rubber bumper thing to lift up the pad slightly. It says optional, but I am wondering how much of an impact it may have if any?

>ROG GEN-Z.2 module w/heatsink
Another post I'll see if I can get a picture of this, but there's basically a custom DIMM slot next to the standard RAM ones and its made for this card, which supports 2 M.2 drives on it and if I'm reading it correctly, using these do not interact with any of the other PCI-E / M.2 slots' lanes. One side is 5.0 capable and I think goes to the CPU, the other is 4.0 and is from chipset. I remember reading there is some performance or latency issue using chipset-based lanes, but it may be basically negligible in practice?

My concerns are beyond just wanting lowest temps, but I read about some high-to-point-of-shutdown temps on some PCI-E 5.0 drives until they got a big chunky thermalright heatsink; I'm guessing that most 3.0 and 4.0 drives don't have many issues provided they're properly cooled one way or another. I just want to make sure things are making proper contact/fit with pre-installed pads even if the manual claims they're for a thicker dual sided SSD design and my drives are single sided.
>>t. someone who uses samsung 990 pro 2tb and 4tb respectively and only reach 30-40c on them

>>101529902
That isn't the entire layout really. Overall its arrangement is pretty solid (pic related partially, but its still working with the X670E so it can only have so many lanes on CPU and chipset. I'm just used to old X99 (what I'm typing this on, a Haswell-E 5960X in a Rampage V Edition 10. Damn good board for a long time) HEDT where the threshold for worrying about lanes was much higher. As far as I've seen the Extreme is one of the best X670E boards with a lot of good features including USB4 and in fact even on M.2 I think it has the most potential 5.0 slots (I also looked into the MSI GODLIKE, Aorus Extreme, AsRock TaiChi Carrera etc) but it still has to deal with the limits of the platform unfortunately; something I think AMD ought to change in future versions if they're going to keep Threadripper / PRO in the workstation focus

So that you don't have to hun down the answer -> Questions about manufacturing or Via Oxidation as reported by Tech outlets:

Short answer: We can confirm there was a via Oxidation manufacturing issue (addressed back in 2023) but it is not related to the instability issue.

Long answer: We can confirm that the via Oxidation manufacturing issue affected some early Intel Core 13th Gen desktop processors. However, the issue was root caused and addressed with manufacturing improvements and screens in 2023. We have also looked at it from the instability reports on Intel Core 13th Gen desktop processors and the analysis to-date has determined that only a small number of instability reports can be connected to the manufacturing issue.

For the Instability issue, we are delivering a microcode patch which addresses exposure to elevated voltages which is a key element of the Instability issue. We are currently validating the microcode patch to ensure the instability issues for 13th/14th Gen are addressed.

I'll be on the thread for the next couple of hours trying to address any questions you folks might have. Please keep in mind that I won't be able to answer every question but I'll do my best to address most of them.

Thanks

there's no way they can do that
another prediction from the oracle: 14th/13th gen will be scaled back to 12th gen voltages (~1.3 V), which means you are going to see maximum boost clocks of around 5.3-5.5 GHz
they might also downclock the ring to 12th gen levels since it seems extremely sensitive to voltage (consumers don't tend to notice slow RAM/interconnects since it only affects 1% lows)

The center connector with the black/brown cables is PCI-Express, typically used for graphics cards. The one with black/yellow cables looks like a 4-Pin EPS which is optional cable that plugs into the top of some motherboards to give extra power (not necessary tho).

Does that PSU not include any connectors that look like this flat rectangle one in picrel? Those are SATA connectors which is what those black connectors on your PSU in >>101530768 are and what the HDD connects to. What about those hanging off the sides circled in red?

I've literally never heard of a PSU not having ANY SATA connectors no matter how basic.

Unless you're wiling to wait for the motherboards as well. Buying Zen 5 with 2 years old board feels redundant, especially if you're planning on getting the flagships. Knowing AMD, It's possible there's going to be some issues in the first few weeks. Best to just wait until everything are stable and compatible.
And I predict by the time they released X870, everything should be fine at that point.

But Arrow Lake might be out by then, 9000x3d is also a possibility. And we don't know how good they're going to be.
So in short, either get 7000 now while the price drops, or wait a few months when you can choose between 9000 + X870 or Core Ultra.

its pretty low chance a gpu just dies, but mobos break constantly
also since its amd you might need a bios/chipset update to remove problems

Hi anons, just built my new pc a few days ago and my PSU would occasionally make a buzzing sound. I initially thought it was just coil whine but I just found out that it would only buzz when I'm in the shower. I assume it has nothing to do with my PSU and it's an issue with the wiring in my apartment? Can I just ignore it or is there a safety concern?

That's a fairly new gpu. Try claiming your warranty?

Yes

obviously the water creates a ground loop between the shower and the psu

Knowing that older Samsung SSDs made in 2022 had a possible firmware bug that really fucks things up, I am trying to update the firmware for them before I install my OSes etc. At the moment, I'm trying to get an 870 EVO 2TB updated and pulled the latest ISO from the website. Unfortunately, the latest version for the SATA drives seems a bit of an issue, its Samsung firmware update utility 3.1 (from 2021) that boots some syslinux version. Also, using Rufus unlike the PCI-E 990/980 Pro firmware update utility, this ISO seems to only want to pull down MBR and BIOS , not giving an option for GPT / UEFI. When I attempted to boot it normally, it of course didn't work from the UEFI manner. I was able to get around it by enabling CSM and having legacy boot so that's okay but...
>The damn thing doesn't detect my keyboard, thereby its completely unable to get past the initial "press any key" bit.
The keyboard and mouse work just fine in UEFI,but as soon as boots the ISO from USB stick...nothing. Ideas?

check for "legacy USB support" in the BIOS or something similar

I'm gonna be honest I'm retarded when it comes to shit like this. Should I be concerned?
>>
>>101531282
Sounds like a wiring issue then. Voltage drop causing coil whine would be my immediate thought but I'm no electrician. I hadn't considered a ground loop like >>101531284 suggests but it's possible if your house is badly grounded (very common prior to ~1970). Try testing it on a different outlet. Ideally one you know is on a different circuit.
>>
>>101531322
Good idea, thanks anon. I'll check it. Forgot about that stuff, thought it would have been turned on if it was present in the BIOS /UEFI itself.
>>
>>101531331
Got it, thank you anon. Also I'm using a cheap extension if that changes anything.
>>
>>101531269
First question, are you using a grounded power outlet? Or is the overall wiring in your house just shit as is?
Your heater goes on when you shower, no? Otherwise how else would you have hot water. They don't happen to be in the same grid-group?
Anyway, something sounds fishy about the outlet or setup, in the longterm it can cause problems. Also don't use ungrounded power outlets for your expensive AF machines when the plugs clearly indicate they prefer grounded outlets.

ryzen is known to kill its internal pci-express lanes
have you tried another pci-express slot? or another computer?

ok I grabbed the mobo + cpu + ram
fucker gave it without a box, bag, or anything, says he bought 5 PCs for a customer, then customer said I only need 3, so its brand new, and it looks brand new. has warranty, but without box I wonder if its legit

even if an extension cable craps out and causes some sort of short circuit the fuse will trip and nothing will happen
you just buy a slightly better extension cable
>>
>>101531322
>>101531348
Shit, no go. It was already enabled. I just booted it directly from the BIOS/UEFI using the BootOverride function where you just pick any of your bootable devices , but it doesn't work.

As soon as the whole
>Syslinux 6.03 2003-2014
>decompressing kernel
thing starts, the keyboard is not functional. When its finished decompressing kernel and loads, it gets into that title screen with update utility 3.1 (dated 2021), a warning about how the Samsung SSD must stay powered through the whole thing or else things will go to hell etc... and then
>press any key to continue
without any luck. I wonder if it has to do with the old as fuck syslinux version ? The particular keyboard (an old Corsair K70 ; I think its detected as multiple devices so maybe that's the issue? I could try my Glorious GMMK Pro but that too I'm sure can be detected as multiple devices as well)? Something else?

>>101531446
That depends on whether or not the extension cord was in a grounded wall pocket. If it dunks out and causes an instable voltage flux then it will either go for the ground-rail or it will hit the system causing the surge protection. The surge protection is however not fool-proof and your mobo and other components can still get damaged.
Same with those lightning-protection extension cords, they don't work unless your wall socket is grounded because nothing can catch the surge when it hits.
>>
>>101531477
I forgot to add that yes, sure it can trigger the fuse box, but I know from personal experience that if something is glitchy (such as a PSU) it won't always trigger the fuse box. In my case a leaking PSU (I could feel the current running through the case itself when placing my hand on it) can trigger the mobo's surge protection at times, but it won't trigger the fuse box. It resulted in having to replace ram (warranty luckily) and the PSU itself.
The same could happen with a glitchy AF extension cord, plenty of cases where people's systems started showing signs that something was wrong without triggering the fuse box.

Same dumbass anon here, I'm going to get a better extension cable, however this wall socket is the only one that I can use in my room. If it is ungrounded like some anons have suggested, what should I do?
>>
>>101531619
if theres some problem from electrical fault you just bill to the insurance company
>>
>>101531619
>If it is ungrounded like some anons have suggested, what should I do?
A better quality extensioncord will help for sure, there is little else you can do that doesn't involve an electrician. I never had real issues using ungrounded sockets with normal use, these days surge protection on mobos is a lot better than it used to be, but if you ignore glitchy half-broken issues because "it still works so why would I" then there's a higher chance of breaking components. Just look up sneak current, it just shortens the lifespan of some components in the long run.
>>101531701
Insurance won't do shit, besides the value they put on electrical devices that are used daily or older then a couple of months is extremely low. You have better luck sending broken components to the manufacturer feigning ignorance if you have warranty.
