They have to use longer PCBs and I don't know what caps and DC converters that must fit on a flat PCB to reliably supply all eight drives with proper voltages and not crash.Look, OP, a bit different topic, here's a retarded idea for you: server backplanes exist. Get one, 3d print the case or use wood planks to built it, provide DC from a laptop charger and call it a day.
