Debian, Fedora, Gentoo and nixOS seems to be the truly unique and different base distributions with well oriented and different purposes.
The core purpose of Arch is to be a minimal and simple system you can build from the ground up and have its packages as close to upstream as possible (implicit freeloading all the time).

Nowadays, all base distros offer:
>a simple minimal base image
>an "official" repo with packages voted by the community to adopt
>third party repo contributed by the community
>an option to get packages as close to upstream as possible
>Flatpak support (if used, makes repository arguments obsolete)

What Arch doesn't offer though (and it's ok if you don't need it)
>Stability by design (Rolling release is not STABLE by design) and you can get such release model with most base distros anyway
>User friendly default image(s)
>Software support (Freeloaders)
>Reproducibility
>Multiple Architecture support besides x86_64/aarch64 only (the official project doesn't)

Gentoo, by simply allowing binaries now, has pretty much become a better Arch. Arch can't be called an enthusiast's distro neither, it's designed for cli larpers and arch developers. Any use case that you fulfill with Arch, you can easily fulfill it better with any other base distro.

On the bright side, they have a wiki. Maybe Arch should become a Linux documentation institution instead of a distro.

Arch offers:

Of your shitty list of shitty meme distros, only gentoo has it

yeah gentoo is way too complicated
>the fucking AUR
inb4 MUH NIXOS
nixos is bloated as fuck and makes you learn a fucking laguage of bullshit. Arch is just LFS with pacman. Shame on you OP

i'm glad someone else finally noticed that. you literally have the same packages you'd get on LFS if you followed the systemd steps.

I don't like having a bunch of unrelated packages pulled in because they were more granular.

I just built a brand new computer and plugged my Arch SSD and fucking everything was normal but faster, it's stable as a rock. I hope Manjaro dies soon because the premise of the distro no longer makes sense.

neither does endeavour's imo. the only nice thing it does is set up mdns for you so you're not stuck wondering why network printing doesn't work.

Endeavour offers a graphical installer and comes with a desktop environment out of the box so it does have somewhat of a purpose but Manjaro should just die in the ditch because it's just the worse EndeavourOS at this point

Total Manjaro Death

and?
normal people already don't use arch outsie of the semi-immutable steam deck os.
this means the people who use arch already use arch because they want to use arch.

OK all valid points but:
>snapper with grub integration set up by default
>yast for system admin GUI
>amazing installer allowing you to tailor everything to your needa
>>
>>101547079
You also make good points, too but the things you list are either fixable or non-issues for Arch. The only real advantage to openSUSE is knowing that it ships with a properly-configured snapper. You can DIY on Arch, but with less confidence if you are inexperienced with snapper.

Debian Sid is nowhere as good as Arch for desktop usage.
Closest thing is Tumbleweed.

This modus operandi of splitting packages into "the smallest possible package" is niggerlicious.
