>>101547681its well known that the higher your salary, the less work you do.unfortunately i have to do a bit of work, but thankfully far less than most.
>>101547681Europoor here, so not 100k+. But mostly programming in Python and Java, plus using a lot of Ansible and Docker. Our supercomputer runs Debian, so all the devs running Ubuntu LTS is the path of least resistance really.
>>101547681Bump for interest
>>101548680Can confirm, we do nothing but some weekly meetings and company luncheons. Makes me feel bad thinking some people have to put a ton of effort into making a third of what I do basically jerking off all day. Atleast I can comfort myself with the stacks of cash
Workstations have always been on Windows but some companies involve a lot of interaction with Linux for low-level programs, but these are sensibly less common.
>>101551520>Workstations have always been on WindowsDepends on the company really. Devs at Google use Linux, for example. My impression is that there's some kind of U curve there: you're pretty likely to use Linux at a small startup or research lab, pretty likely at a huge tech company, but the companies in between run on Windows.
>>101547681I scroll reddit for 10 hours of my 12 hour shift. My actual job is almost exactly what you described.>DoD sysadmin, 104k plus benefetsI wanna save money for a couple years while I grow my qualifications, but I can't see myself in this position forever.
P.S. >>101549318My friend also uses Linux at work, he does web backend stuff in Python. Another friend who uses Linux at work does web backend stuff in Java. A third Linux-using friend does Linux dev.
>>101555282>does Linux devu wot m8
>>101555516His job is to contribute to the Linux kernel.
