Does your SSD have a cooler /g/? They are getting faster and more important in your system.
>>101550474I bought this kit just for the copper sink because the 980 Pro behind my mobo would reach 90C when installing games.
>>101550542now it doesn't even reach 70C.
>>101550474Yes but not that elaborate
>>101550474It has the heatsink that came with my mobo. It's good enough, I don't really do anything I/O-intensive for long periods of time.
>>101550474NAND retains data better when it's warmer. You should only cool the controller
>>101550474KindaI just hit with a whole ass fan It’s between the cpu and the rear i/oMaybe a heatsink would help more? But this stays under 50c under sustained writes like this so it’s fine
>>101550474>fanLooks like a terrible liability to me. I bet it's not a standard size or connector either.
>>1015504742, one that came with the SSD and one that came with the mother board itselfsomehow they fit together so i use both
No, AND I leave on the big dumb sticker to keep it nice and warm.
>>101551204you should only cool the controller IF it's throttling and affecting performance otherwise there's no good reason to cool the controller either
>>101551479>no good reasonSmaller number makes me feel better
>>101550474I have 8 of picrel in my loop
>>101551552just don't look at itturn off that rivatuner overlay nigger
>>101550549>Blocks your path
>>101550474i have one that came with the motherboard and a pcie3 drive that would cool just fine without it. would love to get a faster one since my mobo supports pcie4 but all my money has been going to HDDs atm.
>>10155129670% empty wasted space where airflow is fucked in all kinds of ways
>>101551785It doesn’t matter at all because it’s cooling a 6 watt N100
>>101550474no, I'm using one meant for a laptop in my desktop because I pulled it out of a dead laptop. Real talk, if you're still using a hard drive for anything other than just cold storage or backup storage or a NAS or something, you're making yourself miserable. 6th and 7th generation Intel computers are still perfectly usable for everything a brand new computer is with an SSD in it, because CPUs are to the point of being so powerful they basically don't matter anymore, meaning you just need a fast SSD and a good GPU now because the storage is what makes shit feel slow.
>>101550474Just get a retired 22110 Server SSD. Its got more mass and higher tolerances.
>>101550474I have an HDD
I bought a cheap heatsink because my motherboard didn't have one on the M.2 slot, mainly for aesthetic reasons though since my ram was red toofigured it would be nice
>>101552381They should make nvme HDDs
>>101555410some bizarre forms of SAS are NVMe protocol over copper
>>101555932Dead wrong
>>101550474does your cooler have a pre-heater? Remember, that for optimum performance it must be brought up to operating temperature before turning on the PC.
>>101550474kys ...if your ssd isn't water cooled
>>101551635Also blocks half the case.
>>101559566>He doesn't use an open desk build as his daily driver
