how do i stop feeling bad when i see programmers who are better and smarter than me
>>
how do you know they are better and smarter

OP just knows he's worse and dumber
>>

i go on twitter and see
>19 year old working in quant
>interned at blackrock, amazon, and google
>side project with 1B+ users

well yes. does that make it any less impressive tho?
>>
>>101560320
Am I wrong to assume that you're the type of person who's worked really hard at programming but is still being surpassed by someone who may not have worked as hard?
>>
>>101560592
not really. i'm self-aware of the fact that I don't work that hard. but when I do try my brain gets flooded with these retarded demoralizing thoughts and I can't focus :/
>>
>>101560434
>>101560644
Stop going on Twitter, retard.
>>
>>101560644
If you don't work hard then you have the perfect excuse for your lack of skills.
>>
>>101560320
There'll always be smarter or dumber people than you.
The most dumbest person is not aware of the fact.
The most smartest person does not want to believe it.

As long as you can do something useful, it doesn't matter where on that spectrum you are.
95% of all people, on average, are too dumb to "find all emails from John Smith pertaining to climate change from three months ago" [Level 3] in the email client/browser mail, across all ages and countries.
Make of that what you will.

>are too dumb to
*Sorry, I was being intentionally rude (and thereby, erroneously, also technically wrong): They're not (necessarily) too dumb to, they're just incapable of, and maybe justifiably so (doesn't work with computers, etc).
>>
>>101560320
It means you have to get better.

The article is great, because the original OECD study is 40 pages or so, and makes it a worthwhile ten minute read.
I don't agree with what their saying, never dumb down an interface, the damage dealt to elites not having access is worse (in the long run) than providing more access to noobs.
Because you'll run out of elites at some point, how will *they* learn?

They be doing.
Vector3 orientation = new();
float[] rotationMatrix = new float[3,3];
# ...
orientation*= rotationMatrix;

While I be doing.
Vector3 orientation = new();
float a, b, c;
# ...
orientation = new(orientation.x * Mathf.Sin(a), - orientation.y * Mathf.Sin(b), orientation.z * Mathf.Cos(c));

Simple as.

Start programming on your personnal projects in order to forget the pain.
If you do this enough you might just join them.

there arent really that many people with resumes like this and in most cases it's a happy accident of geography and upbringing, not (just) hard work and raw ability. anyway its worth thinking about the fact that basically everything in your greentext is not really related to "better/smarter" directly so much as prestige markers like their past employers, their field, the metrics, etc. i dont think you would feel so bad if, for example, a colleague or lecturer were solving a problem as a demonstration and you thought their solution was amazing. i like to think you would feel inspired by that instead OP! so dont give up and dont give in to envy. amen.
>>101561829
this doesn't really sound like it would solve anything

https://eater.net/quaternions is a better jumping off point since it also points you to the 6 minute long practical video, the 30 min one probably needs a couple of watches to really follow. also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc8b2Jo7mno this absolute classic before you even think about quaternions, so you understand why you're even looking for a different solution

You can go work at Wendy’s where you’ll probably be the smartest person in the building
