I'm studying biology, specifically vertebrate behavior and nowadays not even the simplest study can do without some sort of software being used for gathering data, analyzing it, etc.
Does /g/ have experience with such programs? I've worked a bit with BORIS and I know about EthoVision XT, would be nice to see other applications that are in use here.
>BORIS
Good program if you need to describe an animal's behavior, given that the animal has actions like grooming or standing on their hind legs. It's open source and uses QT for its interface.
>EthoVision XT
"Microsoft Office" of behavior studies. Huge, proprietary and bloated, but good for people who just want their work done. Personally would not recommend it, because it's not that hard making your own tracker that is simpler and faster if you use OpenCV.
