Will rumble ever be taken out of controllers?

When will this gimmick end and who actually likes that shit?

It's called haptics now. It is here forever.
>>
>>101564170
Some games actually benefit from it, like games with a fishing minigame or some shit
>>
>>101564170
Because games use rumble. I will never happen.
>>
i like the feedback when I'm driving a vehicle or shooting something
>>
>>101564170
>When will this gimmick end...
As soon as you disable it, which is an option in ~99.9% of modern games and consoles for accessibility accommodation.
>and who actually likes that shit?
It depends on the game. OG Metal Gear Solid was immersive and appropriate, but for every game that does it well, a dozen others are like HAHA RUMBLE GOES BRRRRRR
>>
>>101564170
>who actually likes that shit?
It's nice in some games. Other games make bad use of it but usually provide a toggle so you can turn it off.

Women have more disposable income and are more prone to impulse spending than men.
You figure it out.
>>
>>101564170
When something is widely adopted it’s no longer a gimmick, retard. Achievements are more of a gimmick than rumble.
>>
>>101564170
I always turn that shit off. It isn't immersive and just drains controller batteries faster.
>>
>who actually likes this shit
It feels nice, like a little massage for your hands. I wish it could be on all the time.
>>
>Buy Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
>Gun sounds loudly come out of tinny speaker on controller
>Rumble for every little obnoxious thing
>Adaptive triggers are a neat idea but grossly over-used
>Controller battery dies in about two hours
Thank you Sony. The game is fucking ass too, they made that series into Rick & Morty with Borderlands humour.
>>
Can't your disabled hand hold the controller
>>
>>101564170
Works on my machine, I have it disabled in ds4windows on my ds4
>>
>>101564190
>some games benefit from [gimmick]
you can say that about literally any game using gimmicks. wagglan, touch pad, gyro, audio inputs, IR sensor, etc
>>
>>101564170
>>101564178
yeah wtf is this shit thread that isnt a flamewar starter.
windows is clearly better.
>>
>>101564170
yea controllers using gyro sensors, and thats SO FUKING BASED
>>
>>101565293
>windows is clearly better.
Yes, everything is better.
Consoles are better
PCs are better
Macs are better
Everything is better
>>
>>101564170
Sorry bud, of all the people I've talked I've only met one that said he disables rumble.

The one they used on the Switch in particular (HD rumble) is quite good.
>>
>>101564775
>Adaptive triggers are a neat idea but grossly over-used
What does this do, even?
>>
>>101564518
nah achievements are good if done well. usually i do a run through of a game blind and then check achievos to see what kind of metagames are possible in the game. half life 2 come to mind as a good example of achievos that encourage you to adjust your manner of play.

you could daily drive a vibrating cockring

this kills the flamewar instigating janny

>>101564170
I like rumble, the only reason you wouldnt is because its not 'competitive' in which case youre playing games wrong
>>
>>101565516
>switch
>Quite good
Am I playing the wrong games?
It sounds like electricity attacking metal. I don't know how to describe it, not awful like cheap controllers like 8bitdo but not great either.
>>
>>101564170
Who else uses browser apps to keep the rumble going while you keep your cock on the controller while watching porn

Sites like this that let you change the speed and keeps the rumble going

I mostly play only Nintendo developed games on the Switch, so I can't talk about other games. But yes, it's possible to have horrible rumble if you don't implement it correctly.
Also, I'm talking about the Pro Controller. The joycons rumble is fine grained too, but it's too noisy. But you shouldn't be playing with joycons anyway, unless you're using it in portable mode.
>>
>>101564170
I like the switch's HD rumble but it's almost never used.
>>
I actually really like it, gives everything far more impact and lets you feel the strain
>>
>>101566049
Holy shit why did i not think of this before, thanks anon
>>
>>101564170
I've actually been kind of into rumble lately now that it's been getting good
when nintendo did their "HD rumble" shit I swore it was just some marketing meme because it sounded retarded, but actually having a rumble feature that is finer and capable of more gentle and varied frequencies is a pretty nice option to have.

steam deck and ps5 controllers are doing it now too, and I'm kinda into it. Old rumble was way too clumsy and annoying. I still hate how stupid "HD rumble" sounds but it's good.

its cool
