I used to be a ChromeOS fan, but I had to get rid of it because of all the bugs. Even the actual Linux desktop is less buggy than ChromeOS. You can install postmarketOS on any ChromeOS device and it will become less buggy.

I got a galaxy chromebook 2 for $200 a few years ago. It's honestly a great little machine. Build quality is pretty good and the screen looks nice. I would like to just replace chromeOS entirely but the linux compatibility layer is good enough and I guess having android app support is a decent benefit.Overall I think it was a much better buy than any equivalent windows machine at that price point.

ChromeOS is very seamless and fast, but has no desktop applications, and combined with an ARM processor, it's a chrome browser, notepad, file browser, and image viewer. There are no other features. You can download mobile apps from the play store, and they're basically unusable. 4 GB of RAM would be good enough for a regular Linux distro. It is a shame that the ARM Chromebooks are stuck with Chrome OS.

Main thing I'm interested in is the battery life these have, although by the time chromeos becomes worth using windows and linux will probably be running just fine on arm laptops and have comparable battery life.
