I'm going to make a blog using markdown as the authoring format, which way of handling the images seems like a better user experience?
1. upload a folder with the markdown file and the images it links to, the server then changes the links in the markdown.
2. Have a gallery section in the dashboard where you can upload images to the server, then you can just link to them in your markdown file before uploading it.

Are you using a CMS like Wordpress or a build-from-scratch one?

The first method gives a marginal processing time than the second method. I'd go with the latter.
