I've wanted to like AMD's gpus for a long time but they are just inferior for how I use them. A few months ago I specifically got a laptop with a radeon descret gpu for better linux compatibility, and it's fine but chokes on most modern games at medium settings. My nvidia 1080 can't play shit, but it runs circles around the newer radeon when it comes to LLMs. I've probably used the cuda cores on that card more in it's life time than for actual gaming.
