is the VR2 now the best headset to buy for PC because its OLED? the adapter drops August 8th and the Steam App is happenin' very soon.VR chads opinions on this?more importantly can I watch porn on it?
>>101578202This is probably the best VR headset money can buy.
>Quest 3 RIPpress F to pay respect
if you're going to use vr on pc just get a vive or else you're going to have endless controller mapping issues with most games
>>101578266>wiredtotally different nicheI'll never buy a wired headset, too annoying
No, most of the features it has don't work on PC.
>>101578300vive is too old now. its dead jim
doesn't the playstation headset have fresnel lenses? after going from the fresnels in the quest 2 to the pancakes on the quest 3, i don't want to go back. also the wireless mixed reality is the best part now. not to mention you can easily play around with all that in godot. it's the better toy right now.
>>101578202imo quest 3 is king if you dont care about basestation shit like fbt, otherwise get something basestation based like an index or vive pro 2, or if you really want to ball out a beyond with index controllers and basestationsalso, go to >>>/vg/vrg if you want to talk to more people with 10k+ hours in vr
>>101578202>its OLEDSounds interestingDo i need any additional software for it?Whats refresh rate?
>>101579967>Do i need any additional software for it?you need to run the Steam app for it, for games anyway. the refresh is 120hz if you have the GPU to cope
>>101580006>120hzThats pretty passable, i might look into it thenAny info on linux compatibility?
>>101580054since Steam works on linux I'd say thats a yes but no VR2 app yet
Wake me up when I can have my xterm windows on it.
the only headsets worth buying are>quest 3>apple vision prothe rest is shit>b-but vision pro is ba-ACKif you own a mac it's a great deal, it's basically a portable 4k monitor that can do few ultrawide 4k screens while placing you next to the lake st night, the headset itself without a macbook is useless though
>>101578202I remember reading that a bunch of the more appealing and interesting features would not be available for it, like the eye tracking and HDR I think. Doesn't seem all the impressive without those to me.
>>101578202>some key features, like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (other than rumble), are not available when playing on PC.Meh
>>101580148>apple vision prolollmao even
>>101580300>>some key features like HDRwhat the actual fuck. on OLED display but HDR doesnt work? makes it DOA
>eye tracking + foveated renderingIs it worth upgrading to from an Index?>>101580054>Any info on linux compatibility?SteamVR-for-Linux is abandonware, if you read the patch notes on steam you will become familiar with the writing style of the Linux patch notes, it's one fucking guy maintaining it, despite the song and dance about SteamVR 2.0 and 2.5 Linux still doesn't have reprojection or motion smoothing. There is Envision, which is a GUI front end for Monado+OpenXR which works better provided according to youtube videos, and requires KDE+Wayland+AMD. I couldn't figure it out because the devs don't provide proper instructions. Rather they provide vague and lacking instructions in a transparent attempt to coerce their userbase into joining a discord server "if you need further help". I've seen VR discords, it's all VRchat trannies looking for new victims to groom
>>101578202>>101578216>wired only
>>101580866>>eye tracking + foveated rendering>Is it worth upgrading to from an Index?no eye tracking on pc so the foveated rendering will be shitalso no hdr, and a few other things i can't remember
>>101580884enjoy your pathetic wireless bandwidth. PCVR has to be wired
just get a bigscreen beyond
>>101582987i will wait for valve's newest headset instead
>>101583008its coming out alongside Half Life 3. ETA 2038
>>101582563>wigig 2s in your path
