I want a modern thinkpad that's as thick as the old ones. Give it a good keyboard and a bunch of extra batteries.
I bought a Carbon Gen 11 a few months ago. It's always gotten hot easily (Intel), and I decided to check the thermal paste. Two screws on the heatsink were on so tight I couldn't get them off at first, but after some effort I hot all screws free. But now I find that the heatsink appears to be stuck on the CPU. Mail it in for help, or go ahead and ask for a refund even though I'm past the 30 days?
>>101587033My microphone input has terrible static in the background. I've tried several microphones via both Bluetooth and 3.5mm jack. If I adjust the input volume the static does adjust down but it doesn't disappear. I'm using Linux Mint 21.3 on a ThinkPad T430. Any ideas on how to fix it?
>>101588024I too have this problem. idk I was going to open her up and see if a wire is pinched or something lul
>>101588024I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as a pony, is in fact, GNU/pony, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus pony. A pony is not a complete equine unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU stable made useful by the GNU horseshoes, mane utilities and vital equestrian components comprising a full horse as defined by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports. Many stable users ride a modified version of the GNU equine every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely ridden today is often called pony, and many of its riders are not aware that it is basically the GNU equine, developed by the GNU Stable Project.
>>101587404I got your back, Mr. Epoxy. Thread had been up a few minutes and I was afraid you would miss it.
Just bought my third today. Two T470s and a T450. I should stop but I don't think I will.
>>101588710and yet you still managed to fuck it up, next time leave it to the professionals

How hard is it to fit an IPS display and an X220 keyboard in an X230?I don't want a high res mod, just an improvement over the stock shitty TN panel - 1366x768 is fine for this display size. Can I trust aliexpress for this shit or are there reputable sellers of these mods?
I have a T420 with a Spanish keyboard. If I want to switch it out for an English keyboard, is it a simple swap or do I also need to mess with something in the BIOS? I've never done anything special to it.Main difference is that the Enter key is chonkier on the Spanish version, there's an extra key in home row, in bottom row, and one less on top row.
