Asking again, always used Intel, thinking of building an AMD system on a B650 motherboard, will it just work out of the box with ethernet and bios or will i have to sift through drivers by hand and install stuff over USB?

Technically intel doesn't either - you're just using whatever the fuck drivers MS ships in windows (or whatever the fuck is shipped with the linux kernel). You're meant to source drivers for both vendors.

AMD paid TSMC to develop a way to weld a layer of cache on the top of their CPU core dies, it allows the CPUs to really stretch their legs and benefits even applications and games that aren't cache bound because the cache pool is so large the CPU doesn't have to go out to the RAM as much.
some applications and games do not benefit much but most do.
>>
>>101591954
>my mind is around a 4060 ti, that's for sure
It's a card that fits the purpose, but only for the right price. When I was searching for a card for my small build, the 4060ti was compact enough for it, but the absolute cheapest one I could find was 400€. I knew it was a very mediocre price, but I needed A card, since my 3060ti had exploded a few days before. In any case, a couple days after buying the 4060ti, I found a refurbished small 4070 for 450€, and needless to say I returned it on the spot.
$180 is an insane price for a 4060ti, let alone a 16gb one, but again I feel it's too cheap, you need to pay attention because it might also be a broken card for parts only.
>>
Small question about this whole Intel panic - I saw sites claiming some huge failure rates, up to 50% but how is it possible that these problems were unnoticed until now? I mean, I use i7-13700 (non K) for over year now and I didn't notice anything wrong. Yet, according to these people, my CPU should be long broken. What should I think about it? It's not like I can invest into whole new PC, especially since AMD motherboards are more expensive, just like their CPUs, at least in my country. And I would need to replace DDR4 memory with DDR5, for further costs.

I'm scared, honestly.

Games are cache dependent so they benefit more from the X3D, but the X3D chips have to be clocked a bit lower because there's that whole cache layers between the CPU cores and the heat spreader, so if you don't need the cache it's a bit slower.

Those 50% claims come from datacenters running those CPUs 24/7, they're going to wear out many times faster than a home user.
Also failure doesn't necessarily mean the CPU is destroyed, it can be an occasional crash.
Also there's the issue of silicon lottery and binning. You can get lucky and get a good sample that will never break, or get unlucky and get a shitty one, it could also be that an entire batch was bad.
Intel admitted they had oxidation issues at one of their plants for some time, processors produced during that time might be more error prone. It could be that the datacenter complaining about 50% failures got one of those batches and on average it's not as bad.

>$33 each
I'd be spending around $120 on case fans alone in my new build to keep my current case which is something I would like to do. Are there any larger fan cases worth a fuck on the market or should I just go ahead and get these new 200mm fans? For reference it's less about price and more me wanting to keep my current case because I like it. Any new case would have to bring something truly different to the table for me to switch

Your list doesn't look bad just make sure to use Eco mode for the CPU, X Zen4 CPUs are running hot by default.
You might wait 3 more weeks for Zen5, but those CPUs will be more expensive for sure.

ditch the spinning rust and go for a 18 tb sata exos 2 dual actuator. its 100 dollars more expensive refurbished but you really do not want a solitary 8 tb drive for 100 its super overprioced and underpowered.

Yeah, I'm probably going to move up to a 1440p set up and will probably want a more powerful gpu when I want to do that, but to be honest with sfx PSUs they're all around $100 anyway so my thought process is leaving the room there if I need it.

I know I know, but I have normie frens back home who like to play call of duty and helldivers, really those games are less about quality and more about having something to fiddle with while in a voice call. And it's not like indie games are immune to the bloat. Gates of hell ostfront is like 60 gigs even though the game it's based on, Men of war 2 assaults squad is like 8. Games are just getting bigger as time goes on and devs don't seem to give a shit.

Just go with intels power limits, not the board manufacturers power limit

This has been a problem with general instability for the entire 13th gen, and now with the oxidization problem. The board manufacturers pre ”overclock” the board power, so as long as you go with intels recommended settings it’s all good

Retard here, this is gonna be a colossally stupid question, but is it possible for my computer to start a fire if left unattended, or would it fry itself and shut down before that could happen? Like I know you should never leave space heaters unattended, which is why I'm asking. >its memory controller is also worse, capping out at 3600-3800mt/s in gear 1 while the 10900s' can do 4600-4800mt/s
>being a backport of sunny cove, it has massive latency issues. intel very likely ran loose ass tminings on the caches making it a regression in games even versus the 10700k
>and lastly, its 8-core design means its multi-threaded challenged and its L3 cache regressed to 16MB

its an overall worse design than the 10-core skylake which beats it in most games and every program that scales with core counts

modern desktops are modern laptops:
>cpu and gpu dynamically boost to a set thermal limit
>cpu/gpu thermal limit is set to whatever value in the bios (default is 95c for example)
>when they reach 95c they will throttle down the voltage and clocks to prevent the temps from going any higher than that

Thanks for the answer, Anon. I've monitored the temps with HWinfo and I think the GPU throttles itself at 85C. The CPU is barely engaged for renders (but would be heavily engaged for any physics simulations I'd pre-bake beforehand). I think the GPU gets hotter during Stable Diffusion generations that it does 3D rendering, for whatever reason.
