My question from previous bred >>101591879
>>101591853As long as the IHS is covered it absolutely does not matter.
Asking again, always used Intel, thinking of building an AMD system on a B650 motherboard, will it just work out of the box with ethernet and bios or will i have to sift through drivers by hand and install stuff over USB?I just want it to werk out of the box like Intel
>>101591898>4060ti for $180You sure you're not getting a box only or something?
Is this still relevant in current year? What are the implications?
>>101591911>I just want it to werk out of the box like IntelTechnically intel doesn't either - you're just using whatever the fuck drivers MS ships in windows (or whatever the fuck is shipped with the linux kernel). You're meant to source drivers for both vendors.
>>101591851yes>>101591911it just werks but you can install ryzen master to turn on expo so you don't have to go into the bios if it scares you.

>>101592128AMD paid TSMC to develop a way to weld a layer of cache on the top of their CPU core dies, it allows the CPUs to really stretch their legs and benefits even applications and games that aren't cache bound because the cache pool is so large the CPU doesn't have to go out to the RAM as much.some applications and games do not benefit much but most do.
>>101591954>my mind is around a 4060 ti, that's for sureIt's a card that fits the purpose, but only for the right price. When I was searching for a card for my small build, the 4060ti was compact enough for it, but the absolute cheapest one I could find was 400€. I knew it was a very mediocre price, but I needed A card, since my 3060ti had exploded a few days before. In any case, a couple days after buying the 4060ti, I found a refurbished small 4070 for 450€, and needless to say I returned it on the spot.$180 is an insane price for a 4060ti, let alone a 16gb one, but again I feel it's too cheap, you need to pay attention because it might also be a broken card for parts only.
Small question about this whole Intel panic - I saw sites claiming some huge failure rates, up to 50% but how is it possible that these problems were unnoticed until now? I mean, I use i7-13700 (non K) for over year now and I didn't notice anything wrong. Yet, according to these people, my CPU should be long broken. What should I think about it? It's not like I can invest into whole new PC, especially since AMD motherboards are more expensive, just like their CPUs, at least in my country. And I would need to replace DDR4 memory with DDR5, for further costs.I'm scared, honestly.

>>101592186Those 50% claims come from datacenters running those CPUs 24/7, they're going to wear out many times faster than a home user. Also failure doesn't necessarily mean the CPU is destroyed, it can be an occasional crash. Also there's the issue of silicon lottery and binning. You can get lucky and get a good sample that will never break, or get unlucky and get a shitty one, it could also be that an entire batch was bad. Intel admitted they had oxidation issues at one of their plants for some time, processors produced during that time might be more error prone. It could be that the datacenter complaining about 50% failures got one of those batches and on average it's not as bad.

>>1015941167900gre has better specs. 256bit + l3 cache > 192bit & no l3 cache.4090 > 7900xtx > 4080 super > 4080 > 7900xt > 4070 ti super > 7900gre > 4070ti > 4070 super > 7800xt > 4070 > etc
>>101594116>never touching frame gen, upscaling, ai stuff, raytracing etcDoubt.
>>101593936>playing aaa-ck!I know I know, but I have normie frens back home who like to play call of duty and helldivers, really those games are less about quality and more about having something to fiddle with while in a voice call. And it's not like indie games are immune to the bloat. Gates of hell ostfront is like 60 gigs even though the game it's based on, Men of war 2 assaults squad is like 8. Games are just getting bigger as time goes on and devs don't seem to give a shit.>I would try not to spend more than 60 dollars but you do you.honestly, I'm in the same boat, but I can't find an sfx psu much cheaper than my first choice. ITX/faggotry tax I guess.
>>101594246just play at bad frame rates or less settings, if the experiance is about social activity then you shouldn't care if you get wasted by some ayys.
>>101594198I don’t touch it, i just want to GPU to pump out tons of frames with every slider turned to highI don’t care about gimmicks, trinkets, and circus tricks
should i change the cooler? This is an old build I upgraded few months.
I've just built a PC with an 13600kf. If I set a power limit at 150 I should be fine until the Intel/Bios update rolls out right?
>>101594315herp
>>101594330what is new?
>>101594343GPU and CPUGot a crazy deal on the cpu for 200
>>101594324Just go with intels power limits, not the board manufacturers power limitThis has been a problem with general instability for the entire 13th gen, and now with the oxidization problem. The board manufacturers pre ”overclock” the board power, so as long as you go with intels recommended settings it’s all good
why is this shit so expensive$800 for a 1080p setup? what a fucking joke
>tfw still at least 180 days until next-gen GPUs
>>101594457800 dollars for the entire setup is a bargain, midrange to high end you’re paying north of that for just the GPU
>>101594457Throw a 6600 into any office PC made in the last decade and you have a decent 1080p build
>>101594457The switch is 250
>>101593436Hindsight is king, it was a massive unknown if they'd even survive or go bankrupt until Sony/Microsoft provided them a lifeline with console SOCs, and even then it was uncertain if Jim Keller (who they brought back to start Zen development around 2012) would be able to help them deliver their parachute.
>>101594482you can't. they have no cooling and they use proprietary PSUs.
Hi guys I need a little help, I'm looking for a new monitor for my setup, i'm currently with a shitty DELL S2440L (1920x1080@60Hz) and wanted to upgrade to something better, I want to spend about 600 - 900 €, ¿any idea of a good monitor?CPU: Intel Core i7 9700K @ 3.60GHzMonitor: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. should I wait for zen5 or build a gaming PC with zen4? xbox series x just died, time to make the switch to pc gaming
>>10159346814nm intel chips are near indestructibleThey only die if you go full retard by running 1.55v with no vdroop and c-states disabled

>>101594513Ryzen chads vindicated, trusted on AMD all the way back with Zen+ (2700), then upgraded to the 5800X and most likely will upgrade to the 9700X, btw the R7 2700 is still running 24/7 as a Linux server/NAS.
>>101594585according to the person who returned it and the seller it was DOA and sounded like an improperly binned chip that doesnt have a working on board graphics. still need to test it.
>>101594574The platform supports both, just get a good quality motherboard and an entry level 7600Run that until it’s too slow for your liking, update, and buy a zen5 processor
>>101594602its a killer deal if the cores are working finethe 10900 series are the best intel chips before their products went to shit
>>101594646whats wrong with dubs gen anyway? no pcie 4 so why wouldnt that be the best?
>>101591803You guys think Arrowlake will be safe from the oxidation issue?
Retard here, this is gonna be a colossally stupid question, but is it possible for my computer to start a fire if left unattended, or would it fry itself and shut down before that could happen? Like I know you should never leave space heaters unattended, which is why I'm asking. I wanted to make the machine do 3D renders while I'm out and about, but I wanted to know if it's safe to leave it alone. I've got a Fractal Torrent, which is a pretty good case for cooling.
>>101592209Do you hate your friend? Why not get a 5800x3d used or 5700x3d?
>>101594655rocketlake has better ipc and pcie gen4 but those are the only things going for it>it clocks like shit, literally needing 1.55-1.65v for 5.3ghz making it a housefire>its memory controller is also worse, capping out at 3600-3800mt/s in gear 1 while the 10900s' can do 4600-4800mt/s>being a backport of sunny cove, it has massive latency issues. intel very likely ran loose ass tminings on the caches making it a regression in games even versus the 10700k>and lastly, its 8-core design means its multi-threaded challenged and its L3 cache regressed to 16MBits an overall worse design than the 10-core skylake which beats it in most games and every program that scales with core counts
>>101594748>its an overall worse design than the 10-core skylake which beats it in most games and every program that scales with core countsOh and it uses like 100W less power doing so because rocketlake has serious power issues (raptorlake-like)
>>101594694modern desktops are modern laptops:>cpu and gpu dynamically boost to a set thermal limit>cpu/gpu thermal limit is set to whatever value in the bios (default is 95c for example)>when they reach 95c they will throttle down the voltage and clocks to prevent the temps from going any higher than that>if somehow the cooling is insufficient and it rises past that, the computer will shut down at the critical temp (110c set inside the silicon)
>>101594571>what is <some gay shit>we're gaymers
>>101594748it did seem really weird how expensive this gen was but i guess that answers why. still no resizable bar does hurt for my MB and all. but oh well, this is going into a pizza box not a 4090 tower. I doubt my mb can do 4600 ddr4. this is a no black pcbs allowed build. its an oem board.
>>101594772Thanks for the answer, Anon. I've monitored the temps with HWinfo and I think the GPU throttles itself at 85C. The CPU is barely engaged for renders (but would be heavily engaged for any physics simulations I'd pre-bake beforehand). I think the GPU gets hotter during Stable Diffusion generations that it does 3D rendering, for whatever reason.
>>101594513Intelsisters in shambles
>>101594918Stable Diffusion in particular is heavy on the GPU memory controller. You're more likely to see high memory temps instead of high core temps.
How do I keep my room temperature to around 21 to 22 degrees celsius when using my high end PC? I live in a nordic country so I don't have an AC to cool down my room. My room gets to 24 degrees when just browse the internet and to 26 degrees or even worse when playing video games that are on the high end. Whats the solution to this problem. If I have to buy something to fix the problem I don't want to spend more than 200 euros. My rig is this: Intel Core i9-14900KF 3.2 GHz 24-Core Processor, ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 72.8 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler, ASRock Z790 Nova WiFi ATX LGA1700 Motherboard, Corsair Vengeance 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6600 CL32 Memory, Samsung 990 Pro 4 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive, MSI GAMING X SLIM GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB Video Card, Lian Li LANCOOL III RGB ATX Mid Tower Case, be quiet!
