Having a job is really weird. Everything is so expensive. Even consumption is extremely expensive. Simply having enough money for the necessities of life (like food, water, and basic shelter). It costs an extremely large amount of money to simply survive, which means you never really feel secure. You always feel in a state of insecurity. The entire point of society was to eliminate that state of insecurity. So what is even the point to all of this anymore. I genuinely do not understand what the point of society is anymore.

Man I wish I had spent the 2010s being productive.
I graduated high school in 2007 and wasted my entire 20s being an alcoholic coomer. It's so weird looking back at it, it's like I was in a coma for 15 years and have nothing to show for it. All those days waking up and checking the internet. Felt so important and entertaining, but ultimately amounted to nothing. Most of it is gone, the people, the videos, the words, just electronic ephemera.

Same it is surprising I am where I would've been even if I gave a shit regardless. I put alot of effort into starting and then stagnated for along time before getting serious again. It happens to alot of people all the time that once they hit mid 20's they get scared as shit that they are behind and in reality they may just be on time if they play catchup before 30 like I did and soon I will leapfrog to greater things. But maybe I could've gotten there faster.

nta but this hits hard
I started college at 22. Looking back 22 seems very young to me, but at the time I realized everyone else was 18 and I felt old as fuck. I then went through my entire 20s feeling old and behind. I realized I spent my youth feeling old. I robbed myself lol.
>>
>>101748555
Started it at 20 finished my associates, took a break like a retard and started back up again at 27 then finished at 30 with 2 associates, 2 bachelors and a masters degree(military paid). Reality I should've gotten out sooner and started out my civilian life but instead I was drinking a bunch and playing games instead of what I am doing now with finishing my degrees, certifications and soon homelabs to really push me towards my goal of network engineering. I do not want to be a chump anymore

Be sure to get the TCP/IP guide and the odom TCP/IP. You can pick it up for CCNA but you absolutely need it for CCNP. Other then the Comptia Trifecta being a good basis for education the TCP/IP is the next step in really understanding networking. It can help out alot for working on networking.

They did but they required you to sit in your career field(any career field) for a 2 years before you could cross train and it was a hell of a test to be either blue team or red team hacker. We generally just contracted that out otherwise but you would've gained good experience.
>>
>>101749043
I would also recommend just downloading PDF's for A+, Net+ and Sec+. Get the Sec+ however since it is a minimum requirement for alot of jobs, but A+, Net+ books are great for general education and i recommend reading a few different ones while writing notes. If you have ZERO IT experience then A+, and Net+ is there to pad your resume.

Hello, I am new to this board. I am an RF engineer who works with cellular infrastructure, I'm very new to it and I was wondering if there are any telecommunication professionals here.

I am finding it very hard to learn this stuff, I want to learn more about my own field, but also radar and aviation communication systems. Does anyone have advice for me about how I would go about doing this? Do I need to go get a masters degree or something?

The company I work for is not very keen on training. I feel like it will be years before I have even a basic understanding of the systems that I work with.

Yes, but not for the "studying", only for the checkmark on your CV
>>
>>101751427
Depends on your company. Cellular is it's own subset of RF and you could spend a lifetime learning it all.

Building things with a SDR has been one of the best professional development tools I have had in my career. It gives you access to the entire wireless spectrum(radio dependent), so you can explore the things you're interested in.

Also consider getting your ham license, excellent way to learn and also network if you avoid the crazy boomer types.

Any time I make a suggestion during a meeting it someone immediately shoots it down (often by one person in particular but by other people as well) and it feels intentional, but the only non-schizo alternative is that every single one of my suggestions is bad. Either way it makes me want to stop contributing during meetings entirely.
>>
>>101750086
Basically you need to never get in this position ever again.
And if you are forced to, you tell everyone that you are overbooked so the quality will drop and things will be missed.

You need to make Google sheets for the tasks with priorities and share them with relevant parties. Target dates. Task owner. Ticket number. Etc. Tell people to add anything you missed in an email. If they don't add it, remind them that anyone can edit and confirm they got your email.

Back this sheet (s) up periodically in a private area.

Then everything is on a few lists sortable by project , priority, and due date. Etc. make it a table.

The projects are either green, amber, or red and trending good or bad.

If anything is not green or trending well ask for help and if you don't get it they can suck dicks because you asked.

Reduce the number of meetings across all projects.

Yes and on paper it's a decent job considering I'm a recent graduate (fully remote, 90k starting + benefits, small company etc) but I feel like fucking killing myself.

I don't know what is wrong with me. I'm trying to practice being more grateful and caring more, but I honestly dream about being a loser neet again and sitting down to actually get work done feels like pulling teeth despite a lot of the work not being too difficult.

What should I do? Genuinely at the end of my rope, how can I fix myself and stop being such a whiny ungrateful faggot?

You list the tasks and responsibilities currently on your plate. Also the general scope of work you do.
Outside scope? Say you need lots of time to spin up so you need to drop other tasks. Also ask if your scope is expanding. Also point out that other people usually handle this stuff.

In scope? Tell them it's cool but some other things need to be put on the back burner. Make him pick those things.

They usually want workhorse pushovers who never chin up to their level and expect them to be a manager.

Of course, maybe just find a new job.

Just switch to listening mode and bring a legal pad and document everything in the meeting. That was no one can say you're no engaged.
If anyone tries to get you to suggest something be positive and agreeable and tell them you'll work on it but you have nothing this moment.
Send the suggestion in an email later if you really feel like continuing to try to break in to the group. Keep it very short. Keep track of any suggestions you send that get implemented either with or without you. Personal spreadsheet.

I have been working at some company as an "assistant software engineer" for nearly two years. In those two years I've started showing more and more problems keeping up with my responsibilities due to my disability and covid ramping up the intensity of the role and management knows this. A few months ago they contacted me saying they are "Seriously considering" terminating me and essentially told me "We want to give you time to find somewhere better suited for your skills, but you can't stay here"

Why are they doing this? They told me that as a business I am "a detriment" and they did absolutely say that I have no future in this company and that it simply isn't going to work, but I'm still here working as I always am. They've been asking me here and there to far more often recently how the job search has been going but I've pretty much been pre-fired. Is this some technique to avoid severance or EI or to justify a firing instead of a lay off by "giving me ample time to financially recover"? or is this truly out of some goodness of their hearts?

What can I do? I've of course been looking but you know how jobs are here.

I just had another meeting reminding me that my future here is very much up in the air but they are also insisting that they "don't want to fire me because of being disabled" but that I still cannot work here. They want to move me to a different role in the company if possible and also want doctor information on how they can accommodate me which is confusing to hear when they also say I wont be with them soon enough anyways.

This is really stressing me out how much they're pecking at me about this. I can't find new work internally or otherwise and knowing that my ship is sinking feels so much worse in advance.

>>
>>101754282
Sounds like they wanted to can you a long time ago but it's not legally obvious what they can do because of your disability. I don't know if anyone in this thread is qualified to tell you what your options are, but I think I'm at least qualified to say that the company only cares about themselves.
>>
>>101754282
I know nothing about this but I may advise going to an employment lawyer. I personally would not want to give a company too much of my private information that they don't need beyond my SSN and state issued license.

It's pretty obvious they want to fire you but they're trying their hardest to find a way to push you out legally with the least amount of cost.
>>
I’m a director and hiring manager…this probably isn’t what you want to hear, but anybody who misses an interview like this, I always ding, regardless of the excuse.

When you interview someone, you have very little information to go off of, and something like this is a huge red flag. If you fuck up the first impression, I can’t trust you to be responsible in the actual role.

To be harsh: most employers expect prospect employees to be able to figure out things like time zones. If you don’t have attention to detail here, why would I believe you would have it during the actual job?
>>
>>101752424
The only thing you should keep in mind is that you did your part by voicing your opinion.

current internship got extended so that my supervisor could get accounting to draw up a budget for my actual employment offer. Is it worth asking for compensation for my extended time as an intern when I could've had a proper job with the company making twice as much as I currently do? doesn't feel proper but I've been instructed by other people more immersed in corporate life than me that this is a fair and normal ask (which I could see), but I also don't want to jeopardize job security for an extra couple thousand bucks

Man I've been feeling like a straight zombie at work lately and I don't know how to fix myself. my motivation has hit an absolute 0. I'm in meetings and I'm doing work but anything or any energy drive I can muster is just wiped out and it takes me so long to get back into things. Like I think before I could have 5-6 hours of production time but now I'm hitting like 2 hours a day where I can be like "okay my mind's awake".

Any tips on how to fix it? My RTO isn't until november (Cousin's wedding, taking the whole week for bachelor party). I have some stuff I can do and it's not even really procrasination but it's a point where I'm waiting for people to do stuff and I don't want to poke the frog and suddenly be like "OH SHIT ENCHALIDAS ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE AND NOW IM RESPONSBILE FOR 20 things"

I used to work at AWS and the whole "Indians only hire Indians" thing is exemplified best there. When I started we had 1 or 2 Indian PMs, when I left literally the entire PM team was Indian, and it had also expanded by a significant amount (like 5x or more). At one point I think I was reporting to like 3 different Indian PMs and their manager, another Indian (and his manager and skip were Indians too). Amazon PM is Indians all the way down. They were the worst people I've ever worked with and amazingly out of touch with both customers AND developers.
Anyways I'm not surprised if most of the new hires are Indian too. It won't be long before they're run over.

One of my favorite memories at AWS was during one of the Wednesday ops meetings, when we were going over the details of an outage some weeks ago. 3 separate AZs in 3 different regions had all started failing one after the other and no one understood why because there hadn't been deployments. After hundreds of man-hours spent debugging, the root cause was found to be an engineer who directly sshed into the hosts (using emergency overrides to bypass company policies to prevent exactly this) and started deleting files off the disks because disk usage was full.
The team was summoned to the meeting, in front of the whole company, to explain their actions, and when they turned their cameras on, guess what? 3 swarthy Indians and an Indian manager who spoke unintelligible English.

You are possibly, similar to me, suffering from a lack of purpose. Late 20's no family, country that hates you, surrounded by decadency and insane pop media. Or it could just be LOW T KEK. Let's agree to get blood tests this week and make sure our T levels are good?

I can code but haven't done it in the last few years. Skillset is AWS, Azure, APIs, web apps, events, microservices, etc. Currently work in banking.

I don't know if Big Tech would even hire me. Fintech or HFT might be more likely.

>Thinking about taking one of those jobs that give your full stack CORE java sar training for like 2 months then they lock you into a bad paying job for 2 years and if you leave you pay them money. I have no experience and haven't got a single interview after applying for months.
Just do it. I started applying for those after around 5 months with no responses, luckily shortly afterwards I found something but before that I was fully prepared to sell my soul for a couple years to get into the industry.
>>
>>101756035
Big tech might take you. Especially one of those cloud orgs or GCP. Hard to say how much you'd have to brush up your coding without actually applying. If you're high-enough level then they value system design >> coding, but if you're at a no-name company right now then they'll probably slot you down into senior in which case you'll be expected to do good on both types of interviews

I make exactly 100k a year at a shitty abusive company working on python, javascript, java, c#, kotlin, and vba. Thankfully I am only forced to go into the office 4 times a month at my choice but those 4 times a month are some of the most awful days of my life. They really don't like me as a person at the company. Constant stress, down talking, belittling. The only thing that keeps me here is my hate for them. I will steal as many paychecks as I can while doing as little work with as minimal quality as I can. They have to fire me to get me to leave.

I think my substance abuse is a major source of my unhappiness.
I grew up on a farm, it is (really) hard work but I miss the simplicity of it. Grass is always greener I suppose.
It just sucks working so hard for something, then getting it and realizing that it fucking sucks. Maybe realizing that there’s no point to working hard and achieving things because I’m just not capable of appreciating it.

scrum master manages the process, not the tickets. POs should be managing the tickets. A technical writer could be doing the customer facing documentation for you, but you're still going to have to babysit them for really technical stuff

Work itself in the modern sense is The Satan. It drains your soul rapidly regardless of what field you're working in, medicine, law, engineering, trades, whatever.

You're forced to participate in a game that you never signed up for. Instead of having festivals with people you love in your community and relaxing, you're forced to "commute" to an "office" and complete "tickets"

Worst of all, there is nearly zero correlation between merit and your salary potential, so you're not even really in control of your own career/earning potential, which automatically means that you should be doing the absolute bare minimum to not get fired and not exert even one joule more.

My advice to you is to start your own business or do some sort of passive income grift. Drop-shipping, a fake OnlyFans with AI generated content, whatever you can muster the will to do.

People who create "jobs" are demons. Don't let NEET faggots ITT tell you otherwise. Some people are prisoners of their own mind and actually get hard at the idea of being taken advantage of, and using their short time on this Earth to make some hook-nose shareholder another million.

t. 11 yoe being an engineer at a variety of levels (junior, mid, senior, now staff) working at both product development companies and research labs. they're all equally horrible, not because of any given trait of the job, but because being alive in anno domini 2024 necessitates "work"

i also did blue collar tradie shit as a teen under my dad for money, just as horrific, but at least you get to be outside and talk to normal human beings instead of autistic bug people

I hate when my PMs ask me questions the business people need to answer. Yes, I have the answers to the questions. No, I am far under the pay grade to make the decision. Yet they have to @ as many people as possible because they have no clue who is supposed to do what. Just burn it all down.

defense isn't really gatekept that much, unless you're a foreigner or a criminal. The bad parts about defense are that it's soulless, you might get stuck in a gay ass closed area with no personal devices, you are probably indirectly responsible for killing people, and there's a high chance that you'll be stuck with useless management

Most tech jobs require some form of coding. Strictly non-coding positions are something like PM, Customer Support and such.
DevOps and QA also require coding unless QA is manual testing only.

he asked his director for a referral for one senior data analyst position that opened up and I applied with the directors name. the director told my dad last thursday that the recruiter would follow up the next day. but they didnt. im gonna ask my dad tomorrow to tell the director to remind the recruiter.

my dad is not a pajeet but has a pajeet style resume, hes a third world country immigrant. his resume is literally 11 pages long and optimized for keyword bingo
