Like I said, use Reset This PC to refresh the install already on the ARM laptop and to also remove any of the OEM cruft that came with it. Also a good idea to use MAS (the activator in the OP to change the edition it came with, which I'm guessing is Home, to Enterprise instead. Which will let more of the ShutUp10++ options actually work. Then you can easily just re-activate with MAS as well.

Have you tried using Performance Monitor to see why your system is randomly using so much RAM on idle?
>>
>>101934826
Stupid question but how will switching to Enterprise IoT effect gaming?
>>
>>101936875
It only effects playing games due to the very small amount of games that abituarly want 22H2 as the running feature pack, with IoT LTSC 2021 being frozen on 21H2. IoT LTSC 2024 is in open preview right now which is frozen on 24H2 and using 11 as its backend which shouldn't have any issues playing any modern game.
>>
>>101936875
All games work on W10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 21H2, with better performance and lowest input lag.
>>101936931
GTA 5 doesnt work on W11 LTSC as 24H2 is in beta and not useable yet, there are no games that require 22H2 as 21H2 is identical to it and every game in backend asks for 21H2=22H2.
>>
>>101937112
>All games work on W10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 21H2, with better performance and lowest input lag.
I would love to see tests on how IoT LTSC reduces input lag. Any around?
>>
>>101937618
Less background apps (UWP) and W10 base guarantees lower input lag compared to OOBE W10 GAC builds and especially W11. Also secure boot adds major input lag. There is a guy who did really good testing on this on yt, its some chud who lives in jp. Just type w10 vs 11 input lag

OK Anons, I need help. I have an i7-13700K processor. No problems whatsoever since purchase. However, I got spooked by the recent troubles Intel had with their products, and updated my BIOS.

That's when it started. Completely random freezes. Never had a single one before. It doesn't overheat. It isn't during something intensive. Sometimes it doesn't happen for 2-3 days, and then twice over two hours, and then nothing for another day or two. There's no rhyme nor reason, no errors, no weird noises.

Any advice?
>>
>>101938155
Try reverting to the bios version you had before.

>>101938155
God naturally a 13th/14th gen Intel Core would end up running *worse* if a BIOS is updated on a modern motherboard. What a shitshow Intel is.

Currently on W11 Pro. My laptop has this feature where FN + [F key] does some very useful stuff like +/- volume, +/- brightness, mute mic, etc.
If I switch to W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024 and do a clean driver reinstallation with DDU, would my laptop still have these neat features? If not, is there a way I could get them back?
>>
>>101939173
Sounds like drivers that would be included in your laptop's OEM support page would re-enable these features after re-installs. Maybe check first.
Also DDU only fully removes graphics card drivers.
>>
So I was reading a bit and apparently monkrus had been putting malware on his master collections. Is this true? Should GenP be the go-to now?
>>
Is it still a necessity to always reinstall windows if you buy a new cpu & motherboard while the rest are the same PC parts?
>>
>>101939293
Ah I see. So not all OEM stuff would be uninstalled when I make the switch? Also do I need to do the DDU driver reinstallation thing after I switch?
>>
>>101939382
It's good practice to but not required.
Changing out your Mobo will require you to reactivate Windows at least.

>>101939449
Windows will reinstall drivers if you're connected to the Internet so you have to run ddu or install without Internet.
>>
>>101939449
Oh no, everything will be wiped. DDU would just be used to remove the generic graphics driver that Windows Update would install.
>>
I didn't know they made USB C thumb drives. These are extremely handy to have for phones & laptops.

Having one of those Sandisk dual USB-A/USB-C sticks is incredibly helpful if you wanna move things from your phone to your PC and vice versa without plugging the phone into the PC directly.

go into your bios and hit "load optimized defaults".
if it still crashes when revert your bios update if you can. some mobos even have dual bios like my amd one does you can flip to via jumper.

I wouldn't suggest any modified isos, or even any debloating apps or scripts or any nonsense. Just get a clean iso of a good edition of windows like W10 IoT Enterprise LTSC or W11 IoT Enterprise LTSC and then do all the setting up manually yourself as you have a good clean base.

What could be causing my disk size to be going down? W10 IoT LTSC btw
My PC is pretty much a stationary gaming machine. I do security and driver updates every 3 months. I don't really download anything other than small documents and images from 4chan. Could it be shader cache from games? I lose a gigabyte of disk space every other day and have no idea why

learn to use your pc, as in learn what you have in your file explorer and what can be deleted. an easy way to get back some free space is by disabling hybernation running "powercfg.exe /h off" in powershell as admin, you can also setup storage sense in settings to delete downloads/cache/updates every 30 days. And you can manually run disk cleanup and disk optimization to speed up the pc a bit as well. AMD Adrenalin lets you cleanup the shader cache if you have a huge buildup in the settings. Your browser can also use literal tens of gbs of space if you use it for long enough and never delete any history or cache. You can clean everything in the Temp AppData folder also
>>

I bought a used laptop and Win11 Pro was pre-installed. I used bypassnro to make a local account with the intent of wiping and reinstalling, but it looks like if I want to keep the Windows license key, I need to bind it to a microsoft account before wiping.
So I need to:
1) Convert this local account to an MS account, make sure the license status is correct
2) Reinstall
3) Sign back into MS account, verify license is OK
4) Convert MS account to a local account
Is step 4 still possible? Is there a better way?
>>
>>101940696
Why care about the license when you can just activate it with MAS anyway
>>
>>101940735
I'm setting it up for someone else, so I want an above-board install that doesn't rely on activation scripts. (Also, it just seems a shame to not use a legit key if it has one.)
>>
>>101940972
Well then yes, you can convert an MS account into a local account if you want in the account settings.
And speaking of "above board", activating with MAS's HWID module is basically a normal activation with no cruft left in the system. The recipient would literally never know.

Is KMS38 trustworthy?

>>
>>101941199
KMS38 is basically KMS activation using the Y2K38 problem to trick Windows into being activated until the day when the problem happens, which is like mid January 2032.
Out of all the current activation methods it's the most "hacky" of the bunch, but it works fine. I used it for a computer when the first iteration of HWID activation died after MS disabled the 7/8.1 to 10 activation servers.

there is no reason for secure boot to affect performance of a running windows pc.

>>
>>101941901
No, I remember using XnView for viewing some very niche video game files and batch editing them, irfanview is just a standard image viewer I think. But they are 100% not from the same devs or the same program
>>
>>101941875
no, he only tested tpm+secure boot together, not just secure boot on its own.
>>
>>101942039
TPM's only reason for existing is because of secure boot, and you don't need secure boot if you are on w10.
>>
>>101942067
>you don't need secure boot if you are on w10.
you don't need it, but it adds a bit of security and it doesn't affect performance.

tpm is something else. it can affect performance and it's only useful in certain cases.
>>
>>101942200
Most motherboards didn't have secure boot enabled by default for a long time until W11 came out then updates changed the defaults. It's really not that big of a deal as long as you install a clean iso and keep your bios updated. If you really care about best performance and lowest input lag it's pretty useful for competitive games. I wouldn't turn it off either as I don't really care that much, but it's an option to do. Especially with how many people here disable or remove defender and that's a billion times worse than removing secure boot.
>>
Does the ipv6 exploit finally kill us win7 bros?
>>
>>101942320
why would you even use ipv6 if you are on windows 7? i thought it was one of the most common schizo things to disable
>>
>>101942229
The point is that disabling secure boot won't give you a performance advantage, you won't get lower input lag.

You should disable TPM unless you know that you need it, but keep secure boot enabled.
>>
>>101942344
I thought disabling it doesn't matter, you can still get infected.
Also I'm kinda tech illiterate when it comes to sysadmin stuff, I just use win7 because it's what looks nice and works, and when other people say win10+ is spyware and stuff I just listen to that and stay on 7
No idea what ipv6 even is apart from an ip address but longer or something
>>
>>101942420
My man if you were worried about getting infected by exploits you wouldn't be using W7 in the first place. Just relax, kick back, and enjoy the chaos.
>>
>>101942420
>I thought disabling it doesn't matter, you can still get infected.
You don't need to think, you just need to read.
https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/en-US/vulnerability/CVE-2024-38063
"Systems are not affected if IPv6 is disabled on the target machine."
>>
>>101937112
I switched to W11 Enterprise IoT 23H2 will that have those problems?
>>
>>101942485
To be fair, the definition of "disabled" is not cut and dry: there are several ways of disabling IPv6 on a Windows machine, and not all of them are effective against this.
Of course, the real solution is to install the update that fixes this.
