It just works. Normies shouldn't have access to linux. Linux mint is outdated with shit drivers and shit support.

If you want to learn an OS you have to learn to install it yourself just like windows, this is no different, It's a completely different thing.

Arch Linux has an installer now, you just do "pacman -S Sy" and then "archinstall"

There's no reason why you aren't using the best lightweight distro with the best package manager.

And it just werks

Valve is contributing huge dollars to arch linux developers because of steamOS and linux is taking off with valves deck being a massive multi million success.

Linux gaming is officially better than windows in most areas outside muh fortnite. Apex is already on steam, everything good is on steam.

Archinstall takes 6 minutes with a 10mb/s internet connection.

I guarantee windows takes longer. By the time windows even installs to the setup screen I already have multilib enabled and 8 programs installing simultaneously

Based on the behaviour I've observed on this board and other places, I'm convinced that distro hopping is a sign of autism.
So no, a distro cannot "fix" your distro hopping, because the real problem is your damaged brain.

No need to distrohop. All OSes and distros are good for something. Just depends on what you need each one for. My ancient Macbook Air needs as much overhead as it can get, so arch is pretty decent for that.

NixOS is okay, has performance problems with KDE like slow folder opening and the package managing isn't standardized so you run into problems with programs.

Arch is the standard valve went with for a reason, It's a lot stabler and light weight.
>>
>>102088143
arch was easier to set up and ship out to the masses. they already knew linux, didnt want to look for nix devs. idk what your KDE is doing but never had problems like that.

It was a problem with Plasma 5 on NixOS when I tried it.

Folders opened about a second slower. Not a big deal really for most, but as a turbo autist by using the desktop I could just feel arch was about 5-10% faster in speed compared to NixOS.

I left ultimately because it was a pain to fucking setup a program I wanted.

>fixes your distro-hopping permanently
I've got Arch on my old Thinkpad and it's easily my least favorite distribution of all the distributions I use across my various PCs.
>gives you a lightweight system with nothing installed
you can get a minimal debian install with something in the ballpark of 200 packages if you use the netinstall ISO, same goes with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed; and you can get similar results from NixOS, Gentoo, Void, and Slackware. This is not unique to Arch.
>gives you the latest drivers for gaming and just works because the steam deck is arch based and uses its drivers
I also get the latest drivers on my OpenSUSE Tumbleweed gaming rig.
>plasma 6 is bare bones
I can achieve similar effect with the Tumbleweed NET ISO; although I chose not to because I like Tumbleweed's stock configuration for Plasma.
>file picker just werks
As it does on every Plasma 6 desktop.
>everything just WERKS
As it does on most distributions, especially those that run Plasma.

What's your point, archtranny?
You still lack any kind of support model that I get from SUSE, and you don't even compile your system like you get to on Gentoo. It's like Gentoo for people who can't install Gentoo but want to feel like hipsters who don't use a "normie" distro. It's for tinker trannies.

Nixos is excellent until its not. You are extra comfy with singular repo managing all of your machines and producing whatever images, but some extremely particular usecase pops up and you're stuck scrolling through nixpkgs repo looking for answers like a caveman.

Debian has older mesa drivers, and its old. This can mean up to 25% performance loss. It's shown on mint that the drivers make you lose lots of performance.

Maybe for grandma its okay but honestly somebody should just make a read only lightweight arch distro similar to steamOS where it runs on flatpaks so we can ditch debian based distros

Arch is so stable nowadays I don't see why anyone would want to use anything else.
