Sure there's a handful of games you have to optimize with a 3070
But you have to optimize nearly every new game with a 6700 XT, and most of the time you can't optimize enough. 1080p 30 FPS to 1440p 60 FPS is a tall order without DLSS

DLSS Super Resolution (e.g., 4K Performance) uses less VRAM compared to full resolution (4K Native). Amazing that's too hard for you to understand. Anyway what you're posting is RT that's too demanding for the 3080 without DLSS. But let's go back to how poorly the 6700 XT aged compared to the 3070 in new games, not the shit tier PS4 ports you're posting

Any new game like this random Unreal Engine 5 game brings the 6700 XT to its knees, and while FSR is unusable, DLSS saves the day for the 3060 Ti and 3070

>>102132464
Don't you want your GPU to use all the resources available to improve performance? if there unused VRAM available don't you want your computer to cache it to improve the frame rate or avoid stuttering?

It's actually not optimal if it leaves unused vram/ram on table if it can be doing something if with it. Why are you saying this is bad thing?

As long as we are still dealing with non-RGB OLED the 4K models at significantly higher PPI hold a monumental advantage in clarity especially with fine text over the 1440p ones. LG will start tru RGB OLED production at the end of next year so maybe in 2026 1440p OLED will be as clear as their LCD counterparts. The Samsung G60SD in particular is the one QD-OLED with a matte finish compared to all the other 1440p QD-OLEDs being semi-gloss using the same panel which cuts against it's clarity and contrast:
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/dell-alienware-aw2725df-vs-samsung-odyssey-oled-g6-g60sd-s27dg60/46678/63129?usage=4112&threshold=0.10

If it's the cheapest foot in the door OLED you can get in your market so be it.

It's reconstruction, numbnuts. 4K DLSS Performance is, you guessed it, a full 3840x2160, not 1920x1080 like your dumb ass seems to think it is

Regardless, yet again you post a situation where the card isn't even strong enough for a 720p input (as even with frame gen it's only 60 FPS, meaning the base framerate is too low for Frame Gen), and bump the internal resolution up even higher. It's a situation with no practical relevance, and don't forget how the MUH VRAM radeon cards do in Cyberpunk 2077 RT Overdrive >>102132569

I didn't say anything of the sort, but then your best hope in this argument is lying. I said that DLSS Super Res consumes less VRAM than full resolution and Frame Gen consumes some additional VRAM

>rt + fg
Imagine that, another example where Radeon doesn't have Frame Gen (in other words it would get a 'Did not finish' rating) and would have to use extremely low quality FSR to have playable performance.

>your VRAM claim
My claim is that DLSS does more for a card's longevity than VRAM ever will and that no one who wants a long lasting card should buy Radeon. I've posted 10 separate recent games, each unplayable without DLSS, while you've posted a few cherrypicks from the same few games where Radeon doesn't even have feature parity (RT or FG)

I win, as always. Now what's really going to blow your mind is that DLSS Quality at 1440p or 4K is usually better than or equivalent to """native""", which means Radeon is a bad value the moment you click buy, because with Radeon you have have to pay the native tax, and it's a big fucking tax

> My claim is that DLSS does more for a card's longevity than VRAM ever will
DLSS doesn’t work when VRAM is overflowing, so it’s a useless feature without proper VRAM buffer as well as DLSS FG/FSR FG, so if your VRAM is filled then you can’t basically boost your FPS.
> doesn't even have feature parity (RT or FG)
8GB GPU with VRAM overflow can’t use RT, upscaling, FG either, while something with a bigger VRAM buffer can utilise FSR3 FG

actually, I prefer a wifi-to-ethernet bridge.

So I've been using one for around a year, the HDDs is placed at the bottom, there's room for a 3.5" one and on the side of the case there's a support for a 2.5" one. The best fan placement would be on the top and bottom, it comes with a rear exhaust fan. Also think about buying filters because the mesh can cause some dust buildup if you set your case on the floor. The case comes with a bottom filter only.

You could screw another 3.5" one on the bottom but then you'd only have room for one fan and it would sit directly under the GPU. Of course if you use M.2 drives this isn't a problem.
You could also buy a support and stack 2 of them but anything more wouldn't let you fit a PSU, which is on the front side.
I would post pictures but I haven't cleaned this thing in months.

>>
>>102140212
12gb is fine for most cases even 1440p most of time however some very new titles are pushing it, but 1080p is no problem with 12gb
>>
>>102139181
paste on gpus is only good for like 2 years tops
>>
Anons I only got $140, to spend. Do I get a 1660 super or 2nd hand 3050? Or something amd in that price range. I just need something to run elden ring

2nd hand rx6600

Aight thanks anon
>>
>>102140365
I may use some of that DLSS stuff if it's not enough. I'm not usually fucking with newer titles right now (although I'm curious to see the performance differences and I never used raytracing)

>>
>>102140681
That chart is extremely outdated, it's from mid 2023 if I had to guess, ROCm has been fixed since, I can easily generate around 10 images a minute with a 6600

At those settings?

I don't know what sampler they were using but yes, 512x512 images.

It's been like 2 years, but doesn't it usually generate with 8 steps by default? Doesn't 50 steps take longer?

currently using the benq ex2780q, ive had it for several years now but with upgrading to a 4090 several months ago ive been starting to yearn for a 4k monitor with better contrast
is the alienware AW3225QF a worthy upgrade? im not really worried about oled burn in, but i am worried about buyers remorse since its a pretty hefty pricetag of being a little over double of what I spent on my current monitor, is the higher resolution and contrast worth the plunge?

The default is like 30 steps iirc.

I just checked, DPM++ 2M Karras 50 steps.

I know this might be a quite atypical question, but...
Does anyone have any recommendations/tips for desk models or some good articles like "Best PC desks 2024"/"What to look out for before you buy a PC desk"? Any reputable websites?
>>
>>102141162
>alienware AW3225QF a worthy upgrade?
It's the only QD-OLED with a curved screen just FYI. The others are all flat. All the 4K QD-OLEDs are basically exactly the same so if your market one is cheaper just get that one instead.

>but i am worried about buyers remorse since its a pretty hefty pricetag of being a little over double of what I spent on my current monitor, is the higher resolution and contrast worth the plunge?
It is absolutely worth it for content consumption in the contrast but also vastly superior colors and response times that don't change with framerate as well as perfect viewing angles and uniformity (no backlight bleed or IPS glow). The only thing on the horizon that might be worth waiting for is 27" 4K models with a true RGB subpixel layout by LG but that won't come until end of nexy year, maybe.
>>
>>102141303
It really doesn't matter brotherman. As long as it's the right height and can fit all of your shit, it's gonna be fine.
>What to look out for before you buy a PC desk
Wtf does that even mean? Make sure it doesn't gain sentience and starts fucking your wife behind your back?
I don't know what functionality you'd expect man
>>
>>102141450
Well, it should be ergonomic and durable(although I don't think they make desks THAT shitty to break in like, a year, it would have to be made out of paper). And the monitor should be at the right height. Should I buy a desk with regulated height or do monitors these days have height regulation?
>>
>>102141513
you get vesa arms for the monitors like a normal person
>>
>>102141513
just buy a chair with adjustable height and a wooden desk that looks durable?
Yes, most monitor stands have adjustable height. Though, like the other anon said, I'd replace those with arms instead.
>>
Best 2k 240hz monitor? What should i be looking for?
>>
>>102141321
ive used a curved monitor in the past, some shitty samsung 72hz one, it ended up not really bothering me so the slightly curved screen sounds fine to me, might help with the 32inch screens being bigger to my current one as well
it also happens to have the better customer support options and convenience out of all the others so that helps with the choice too
im glad to know it is absolutely worth it though, i guess if i dont end up being wow'd i can always return it even if it might be a massive pain

Nah, you're good. Maybe go with the asus tuf version of the 4090 for better cooling/noise and replace the case and AIO stock fans with noctuas if you don't care about rgb, but other than that, you're gucci.

4K is a little overkill I think. Most JRPGs and visual novels only support 1080p, so I would need to play them in windowed mode on a small window.

It's not the resolution but the contrast and colors/uniformity. JRPG & VNs with large areas of solid bright colors benefit from OLED a good deal. Also that OLEDs are 10-bit panels instead of 8-bit + FRC reduces banding which is more visible where there are solid color gradient changes. The 4K is mostly just to band-aid over the poor clarity from them being non-RGB layout.

>so I would need to play them in windowed mode on a small window.
Integer scaling, son!

Anytime.
Although, now that I think about it, since cost isn't a factor for you, you might want to go for the asus rog matrix 4090 instead of the tuf one.
It's fully watercooled and will never run hotter than ~65°C with the highest overclock possible.
If your case can fit two full size 360mm radiators, then I'd say why not?

I found this neat Windows program that lets you suspend and resume games/applications just like consoles do.

https://github.com/Merrit/nyrna

Its useful for toaster PCs or you just like having a bunch of shit open without slowing down your PC!
>>
>>102143347
Windows 11 already suspends processes automatically as it sees fit slowpoke.
>>
>>102143467
Suspend feature is entirely different than this.
>>
>>102143467
This works on Linux as well not just Windows also its not using the suspend call you can check with Task Manager for the eco icon.

Hello guys.

Back in 2019, I built my own PC and had an ASUS Sabertooth 990fx r-2 as the motherboard. I was foolish enough to buy two 1040ti GPUs which canot both work at once on the motherboard or be connected to each other. I also bought two RAM cards that were incompatible with the motherboard, but I didn't notice until I tried to use stable diffusion and found that I didn't even have 2gb of RAM on my computer.

Anyway, I reckon it's time for an upgrade of the motherboard, hopefully to one which will be able to utilise my RAM cards which have been languishing in the sabertooth for the past half decade and both 1040tis.

One concern I have is sneaky government backdoors built into the hardware, which is why I'm sticking with my relatively old AMD cpu. Is this something I need to check out relating to new hardware ie motherboards and GPUs?

With that in mind, what is the best motherboard I can get? I'm looking at CrosshairV Formula Z.

Budget: unlimited

I run Libreboot on my ThinkPad but I use an HP ProDesk 600 G1 as my PC. As far as my knowledge goes, the threat actor/glownigger agency would need physical access to your PC to start logging your information and sending it to whoever. People have run WireShark for a while, sniffed all outgoing ports and found nothing related to Intel ME, so unless there is a super-secret method to access it without a network while airgapped (like infrared lights or radio signals or some shit), you shouldn't have to worry about this. I can remember that all Intel CPUs which are marked as vPro have a port open on 16992 that allows you to do glowie-tier shit that way, but afaik it's not publicly accessible unless you have port forwarding enabled, it's just local.
