i regret ordering an office chair online without first sitting in it. a moderately priced office chair from office depot is 10x better than amazon chink shit with all the bells and whistles

Having a desk that's too tall. My girlfriend needs it because her legs are longer than mine but holy fuck I have to suffer for it every day.

The gigantic desk, in reference to my actual setup. It’s nice sometimes but it’s mostly just cable hell, I have to have usb extensions for everything
It was fine with a 32” 4k monitor but with the 20” 2007fpb or the 24” 1080p monitor, they’re just too damn small

Honestly nothing except punching a hole in my table. But the anger was warranted, it was either destroying something or killing myself.

Just get those adhesive cable clips and route everything under your desk. Or use a USB hub.

I would just declutter. And the concord analogy isn't exactly the best example, it flew for another 3 decades and the accidents weren't exactly a fault of it's own.

There's nothing inherently wrong with it but I plan on changing almost everything.
I'll be changing the monitor for a smaller 27" one (Dell U2724DE) with a built-in Thunderbolt hub.
The desk will be smaller and without a separate drawer and the speakers will be mounted on the wall.
I might upgrade to the 8" 4th generation KRK Rokit speakers too.

I live in a bachelor's apartment in an old commie block, the acoustics here are shit because there's a ton of reverberation, but I don't have a lot of choice.
I'll be changing all the furniture in the bedroom/lounge area to make it as spacious and light as possible and I might move the speakers on the other side of the partition (the TV is there) and switch to headphones when I'm on the computer.

If you don't mind spending an extra 100-200 neetbucks on the mobo and psu (though you save money on a smaller cpu cooler), ITX is where it's at. Sandwich designs actually run cooler than ATX builds because they aren't recirculating hot air, the layout inherently acts as a conduit for airflow.

Less noise, less heat, smaller size, good times.

Thanks. I did some looking around and it seems like the best way to treat SBIR is how far you place from a wall. I can't find any reading material on foam placement, but I will say that they seem to help high rend reflections.

I don't know they look cheap and worse than the white ones.
Maybe they remind me a bit of mosquito netting.
>>
>>102245485
I agree they are even worse, I was trying to find something that looked less horrible

both the white and the black ones claim to be the same length as the blackout curtains by the way, which is clearly not the case
>>
>>102245565
That's normal, they're rarely the correct size that's why you should have them modified
>>
>>102245717
after measuring half assed while standing next to them, I feel like it's more likely that the blackout curtains are slightly shorter than their stats claim, and by chance, that makes them the perfect length

both the black and white privacy ones are slightly too long, and they are probably the length as claimed in their specs

have them modified? seems like a hassle for these pieces of crap

should probably just throw the white ones away, get a refund for the black ones, and get custom measured ones for privacy ones, preferably not from this creasy plasticky shit material
>>
>>102232958
Looks wobbly AF

Most of the time those thin frames bolted together tend to have too much play and/or loosen up over time. If you do go that route then tighten it down and put some red Loctite on the bolts.

If you want cheap, simple, sturdy and new I'd recommend you buy whatever desk/table top on Amazon and similarly look up desk legs there as well. Generally speaking you want to have a floor-to-top-of-desk height of 30" give or take (standard, obviously do whatever the heck you want), so consider the top's thickness in addition to the leg height.

To make life easy you preferably have a cordless driver (drill makes holes, driver drives in fasteners i.e. screws/bolts) but you can do it by hand, you'll just have sore forearms but you may be used to that

I'd personally recommend you ditch whatever Chinesium screws the legs come with, go to your local hardware store and buy quality fasteners like Spax or GRK that uses a Torx (star) drive (they usually include bits too) because Philips is the devil and strips like it has an OnlyFans and daddy issues
>also make sure it's a washer or button style head, not anything counter-sunk which will be flat on the top

For size of screw look for probably #8 (5/32") and for depth it should ideally penetrate at least halfway through the top but I'd say not less than 1/4" from the top of the top
>also don't forget to consider the thickness of the leg's flange or attachment point in addition to your desk top thickness
>e.g. (1-1/2" top)/2 + 1/8" table leg flange = 7/8" screw length or just use 1" and you're fine

Anyway, hope that helps.

If you have a closet, I'm sure you can neatly pack stuff in there. Put stuff in boxes that you almost never use and put stuff like the scissors, ruler, and glue into organizers. Your setup looks very lived in and that's great, but all the clutter really does make dust a bigger issue.

I'm approaching 40's and I did a lot of irresponsible things to my body, that's why all this faggy ass ergo attempts, I did not do it because I find it appealing. but really the standing and sitting combination may be a good experiment, I don't really believe in it, but I will try it anyway

I'm approaching 50's.
In my non-scientific opinion living reasonably active life and using your body is much more important than ergonomics.
I feel that most of the damage I've done to myself comes from commuting for decades two hours a day in mostly manual cars with heavy clutches. That really ripped up my back. Sitting in sketchy chairs - not so much.
Pic unrelated, just some saved stuff from years ago.
>>
>>102260064
Yeah I also had a lot of damage from long time in cars etc, but also from sports. You never really consider the damage you are doing until it is done

In my case it doesn't have to be sports or gym but I try being active just doing everyday stuff, will take a walk or bike instead of car if feasible and spice that up with hike, cycling to office and similar. I do some simple gravity workouts and do running a bit but nothing scheduled, I don't want to lose weight or get big, just stay functional and feel reasonably good.
This being said in my experience, you can eat shit and not care about yourself up to late 30s as long as you don't get fat. Early 40s stuff is starting to bite back, late 40s everything falls apart if you continue to live like in your 20s.

If you are comfortable with the following it is a lot of fun.
>jigsaw
>drill
>metal file
>large circular drill bits (120mm)
The biggest challenge is airflow, which old cases did not need as much.I did a lot of 3d modelling/printing to make large fan mounts and grills, radiator mount etc. that otherwise didn't exist on the case. If you have an existing stack of 3 cd drive bays its really easy to convert to 120mm intake. If you want to keep the beige aesthetic its going to take some clever planning, and large beige server cases with airflow are hard to come by. A full metal case is easier to work with and I always like this era of Lian Li cases (early 2000s) vs. plastic beige cases which I why I went with that.

>The biggest challenge is airflow, which old cases did not need as much.I did a lot of 3d modelling/printing to make large fan mounts and grills, radiator mount etc. that otherwise didn't exist on the case.
NTA, I took the easy route for dealing with bad airflow and added a 120mm Delta fan in an intake configuration.

Being lazy and not building my PC myself. Kinda an obvious one but thought I'd get away with it. Had a local place build one and they gave me cheapest 4800mhz memory with a 14700K and 4070Super. 20% upcharge on everything, I wasn't really caught up with PC hardware since building my last PC in 2017 so I thought I'd get away with it and maybe just pay a little more. Paid A LOT more and got a worse computer. Never again.

I've bought a bunch of 1st party, 3rd party and doujin Azur Lane goods over the years. Buying AL stuff is a slippery slope, you start off buying something like a kusogaki 2-layer wall scroll and end up wearing AL theme'd ties to work.

I think I've been around level 93 for the past 2 years, I kinda lost steam when around the time when they started actively trying to retain players from BA. Has a solid place in my heart, dick and phone, but still.

Yeah lel I've been holding out for a long time.
But years ago when that Bache-skin came out I immediately knew if they ever made a figure of it, I'd be screwed and would have to get it.
I even told /buyfag/ that, it was on my bingo card.

Yeah I don't blame you, I was a neet for a couple months which is the only reason I was able to climb so far in the game.

I'd like to try BA, but my S7 doesn't have the storage for both AL and BA. Even after a factory reset.
Also the main AL story sucks ass lmao. It feels like a dogshit ver of Arpeggio of Blue Steel sometimes.
But the characters and smaller stories/plots keep me into it.

I assume I'll enjoy BA, I just hope I don't get into it too late, like I do most games.

It's not good or bad, it's just a normal shitty setup. It's like taking a picture of some random person's computer desk and asking if it's good or bad. It just is.

First you have to figure out what aesthetic you're going for. Then work towards it.

>>
>>102283731
The first thing you need to do is get your area right.
Just having a desk in the middle of the room against a wall sucks ass.
You need something against at least one side of the desk. Could be a window, large plants, the wall (corner) shelves, cabinets, dresser, cabinet.
Then you need to cable manage unless you're going for the messy look.
>>
>>102283751
right, every good setup I liked had a wall or window on the side
this might be a future project tho since this is my shitty one bedroom apartment

center the monitor. clear out all objects you do not use. put a narrow shelf above said monitor. put a poster on each side of the shelf. clip on a desk lamp and some very small plants (or one medium size plant). and for the love of god velcro those cables together, then around the table leg.

Literally everything. If you anons want to feel better about yourself, read this.

So I bought shit during the pandemic, my desktops all got broken by movers when going interstate, so I was essentially starting fresh.

First mistake. Bought a 12900k, little did I know that zen 4 was just around the corner and by the time I'd have time to setup my desktop it would already be out. So now I have a stupid power hungry system that runs hot even with a 360mm aio and a stupid thermal grizzly contact frame. I'm actually going to need to buy a torque screwdriver now so I can more evenly distribute the pressure across the cpu to lower temps.

I bought a 3070 for 1649 aud. Enough said.

Bought a fucking evga z690 dark meme motherboard. It sucks. I bought it because at the time people were having issues booting 6000mhz with 64gb ram and I wanted a single channel board that just works. Now I'm stuck with a board with lack of connectivity options and no bios updates.

011 dynamic evo meme case. It's shit. Try managing rgb wiring in this case. Horrible.

Buying rgb stuff for the first time is the next mistake. The software to get this all running is AIDS and open rgb is shit too.

I bought 2 samsung 990 pro which had firmwareissues which thankfully got resolved.

Stupid lian li fans that connect together with push pins. Took me forever to get them aligned and working well.

4k meme monitor. Yeah windows scaling is shit. Just get 1440p or 1440p ultra wide.

Bought a psu for the pcie 5 ready shit. In hind sight would have just got something cheaper and used the 12 pin adapter.

Lessons I've learned.

Next mobo will focus on the features and have no rgb. Something like the msi unify series. I'll never buy intel again. Anyone who says intel is fine is just coping.

I'll never get rgb anything. If the cpu can't be air cooled I'm not buying it.

I'm only buying an airflow focus case and it better be a large one.
>>
>>102283819
>clear out all objects you do not use

>put a narrow shelf above said monitor
can't but will consider in the future
>put a poster on each side of the shelf
any ideas? I don't know of any anime that I would want on a poster, but that is about all I could think of
>and some very small plants
i know nothing about plants, what species is good that isn't dirty?
>velcro those cables together
i have it like that because I share keyboard+mouse between PC and laptops. It lets me quickly plug and move to another computer. I tried KVM but latency is horrible for me.
>>
>>102281385

>>
>>102283225
Are those speakers Edifiers? Would you recommend them?
>>
>>102285152
I didn't. The specific ram I wanted only comes with rgb, there is no option without. Same if you want the fans that connect with the pushpins to reduce cable management.

Ultimately I just made everything white to be the most inoffensive possible.

The only thing I did want rgb on was the keyboard so I can see it in the dark.

You're a MBA, aren't you?
Anyway, sweet ThinkVision Monitor, sire. Is it 4k or 1080? Also, it it worth paying the premium for it as compared to standard monitor for other brands?
And lastly, how have you been? Happy & healthy, I hope. Happy upcoming autumn, Anona.

>What do you regret about your setup?

Not buying longer cables, and mounting the cable management caddy the 180 degrees from how it was shown in the manual. The cables are from like 2010 so it's just a matter of swapping them out at some later date, at which point I also need to just sack up and unhook the caddy, pull all the other cables, and reattach after flipping everything around. Works for now though.
I'm pretty happy with the amount of real estate on this sit/stand desk, I was able to keep my computer off the desktop by moving it over to the "server rack" that has my networking stuff and a pi that does arrs/jellyfin/etc. but now the rack looks pretty unprofessional. I guess there's no real solution for cable spaghetti unless you want to shell out for sleeves and all new cables and everything. Even then it eventually has to come out of the sleeve then you're back to spaghetti. still need a better trash can and maybe something for the cat to sit on.

What's a good stand to under my case that doesn't have wheels? Everything on the internet that I've found has wheels for some god awful reason.
I want to move my case down from my desk but I don't want to put it on the floor because of how much dust my apartment tends to accumulate.

Stay strong anon, I believe in you.
>>
>>102296662
300 pixels per inch, ideally. I've upscaled and retouched a few vintage movie posters for printing. At their original 27x40'' one-sheet size that's 8100x12000 pixels.
>>
>>102295952
It doesn't have an aux input, I could get an aux to video cable, but frankly the logitech speaers are better for computer usage and the stack for just music stuff.

I just really wish I could get the CD disc changer part of the stack (missing when I bought it). I can't find one for sale online anywhere.

Custom-built by the service. I provided the measurements, and they delivered.

It fits a UPS, ITX gaming build, 1-litre Lenovo, KVM, DAC, switch, PDUs, laptop storage, and more. The top shelf is for the cats. The main cabling is hidden and strapped to posts on the lower levels.

>What do you regret about your setup?
I bought a vertical mouse to attempt to alleviate RSI symptoms. Turns out it had its own share of ergonomic problems. Now my entire arm is out of commission. Using a right-handed mouse with my left hand sucks and all of my touch typing has gone to waste. I fucking hate mice so much. Fuck Apple.
>>
>>102298536
Maybe try a pen tablet. Some of them also support touch which would give you two methods of mouse input.
