Can you give one reason to build a new desktop PC or upgrade your current one?

Are you asking for your specific case or just in general?

The only part that I would like to upgrade but don't NEED to is the GPU.
>More VRAM for AI Slop
>RTX for Quake 2 RTX, Metro Exodus RTX, and the upcoming Half-Life RTX.
>AI chip in RTX for OpenCV to identify and catalogue Magic the Gathering cards
Otherwise this ancient rig seems to keep up with modern times.

Interested what was the reason for working grown men on /g/ to spend money on a powerful PC. There are quite a few regretful posts and threads on this topic. My PC is on his sixth year and I'm considering an upgrade or a new build. Just can't find the reason for it. Certainly not for modern games. Local models to chat with wife? I don't have the time and I am very tired when I come back.

I used to monthly upgrade when I was younger. But after I started going out and living on my own with work, I realized that if you build a decently powerful computer using used parts off ebay for next to nothing, you'll be fine.
For example, I bought a Xeon E5 2680 v2 for $17 off of eBay after the Facebook liquidation of IBM servers.

Professional 3D rendering can get very resource-hungry.

What if I buy and something fundamental, like motherboard or a PSU will stop working? They work great for now, but still.
>>
>>102260629
motherboards typically don't die unless you fell for the msi meme.
Replace your psu once the warranty ends.

My motherboard is MSI.

My laptop is 12 years old and I am not considering a new one.
