back in 2006 ytmnd.com allowed users to make shock site memes disguised as normal domains increasing a likelyhood of a normie clicking on a disturbing webpage. it makes me sad shock sites with disturbing images and ear rape are a thing of the past now. Goatse, lemon party, bme pain olympics and last measure never get brought up anymore in the current culture. Where as back in the 2000s normies clicked on that shit all the time, by accident.

Though to be fair the mexican cartel videos of today have out contested goatse and lemon party by a country mile - but the websites that host gore vids do not present it in the shock site format like the GNAA did with last measure. Normies do not accidentally click on funky town. I think the problem is big tech cracking down on this kind of behavior and banning pop ups and auto playing audio.

back in 2009 I accidentally clicked on a "hey everybody I'm looking at gay porno" last measure meme. It blaired through my grandma's home computer speakers with pictures of deformed human fetuses in dead bodies back in 2009. I unplugged the power cord on the machine.

good times

I actually came across a great article the other day that explores this topic in-depth:

It was the wild west days of the internet. I remember 20 years ago and all the insane things posted. It was people revealing their true ID at its purest but eventually normies had to ruin it. It's over now but I'm glad to have seen it!!!FACT!!!

I've said exactly this. FAGMAN censors the true nature of man.FAGMAN has put free speech inside a walled garden.

I fucking hate the new modern "clean" internet. Ever since live leak went down, bestgore came after. I was never crazy into gore and everything but I always liked the videos of people in russia falling off tall buildings.

the internet of today reflects the will of souless giant corporations. the modern left in the us has formed an alliance with corporate america because they both agree with censorship via woke ideology

back in 2024 ytmnd still exists and you can still make shock site memes, so what is your point exactly?
>>
>>102273345
ytmnd was shut down years ago

i always wondered what "ytmnd" meant
>>
>>102273481
lmao i just clicked on it yesterday as well.

back in 2012-2015 i would make moon man shock sites on ytmnd but the owner max deleted every trace of me in 2015. My friend pichu and dreamkilla both independently made clones of ytmnd. pichu's was open source and offline usable; where as dreamkilla's was web only. i could make moon man memes offline without worrying about max deleting them.

then i studied foss and open source more in 2017 and that is how i got sucked into Linux

yeah in 2015 max finally cracked down on me and deleted all my moon man memes non stop and i kept making new accounts and he would wait for me to post 100s of them before deleting them just to piss me off.

I realized I lost the battle to max and that an open source clone to max's website was the answer. That's kind of how I got involved in FOSS in the first place. the offline usable ytmnd clone was gpl3
