Ok bros my samsung s9 finally gave up - sim cannot be read anymore.

I want a samsung s24 ( regular one ) form factor but without the camera bumps. What should I go with
>>
>>102362813
Pixel 9 or 9 Pro (non-Pro) have a bump but at least it is uniform. Performance is adequate for most things but not on par with the Snapdragon SoC in the US S24. Its also a matter of preference but I prefer vanilla Android over OneUI despite the latter being a huge improvement over past versions. Android 15 is running great on my Pixel 7. Probably will upgrade to the 10 Pro next year.

S23 and when you put a case on it there is no more camera bumps

fine ni/g/g/as, I never thought I would be forced to post here but here I am
I need a new phone (I fucking hate technology I would go back to 2007 and kill the redditor faggot millenial that invented the iphone, literally downfall of western civilization), just so you know how old my shit is: it recently stopped supporting NFC payments and the battery is giving up
I don't have preferences for brands (they are all trash), I heard good things about the pixel and that you can install custom firmware
I just need a reliable phone to shitpost, make calls and chat, I don't play video games (lmao) and I don't care about the camera
what are my options?

Switched from Google Chrome on my android to using, first Firefox, then Fennec, and now Mull. But all of them feel sluggish when scrolling on ANY site. I tried turning off the auto font size shit and smooth scrolling (based on googling the issue), but none of those helped. It's like the scrolling is stuck at 30fps while Chrome could utilize my 90hz screen just fine.
What is causing this?

Why do normies hate changing their phones? Refusing to upgrade even though their old chinkphone is slowing down and lagging.
If I could afford it, I'd change my phone every 3-6 months whenever a new flagship from a different manufacturer comes out.
>>
>>102364636
>Why do normies hate changing their phones?
Because it's annoying to transfer your files over, it's annoying to research a better product, it's annoying to purchase and replace etc.

Normies don't have files on their phone and all their photos are backed up to Google's cloud. Otherwise fair point.

A long time ago there was the Nexus line that many of you were probably familiar with. Cheap, good specs, but most of all supreme software and modding support. What is the modern *cheap* equivalent to this? I'm using an ancient HTC M10 right now, I'm actually ok with the hardware and performance but I'm getting left behind in terms of newer software support so I tried looking for a custom rom yesterday and EVERYTHING SUCKS. Everything has all sort of undocumented bugs that never got fixed. I'm pretty much stuck with stock for the time being.

I know the Pixel line is the supposed succesor, but I cannot find a Pixel that is either cheap or non-amoled, or that isn't a pain in the ass to replace the battery.

I don't care much about specs or performance as my current htc is fine for my needs, but it has to preferably be actually compatible (as in bug-free and ideally untouched by jeetware) with newer android versions.
>>
I asked this yesterday and didn't get much help, so I'll ask again incase someone can help me.
I'm not allowed a camera phone at work. We used to be allowed to remove the camera and bring in any phone, but now that's "a security risk" too. So we need phones without them entirely. Also not allowed a fingerprint sensor or GPS, but I can lock the phone in a Lead-Safe when I'm on-site so that's less important.
If I can't find a suitable replacement, they'll just give me some grandma-tier feature phone.

Any suggestions? I know it's a hard ask, it's why I've been struggling on my own.
>>
I just realized that Samsung's equivalent of Apple's "60Hz and 2 cameras on base iPhones" is the slow 25W charging and only 1080p screen on the base 6.1 inch S-series phones.

It's not bad, I'm fine with it on my S23, it's just that Samsung used to put 1440p screens on their similarly sized phones (pic related) a decade ago and no longer do ever since 120 Hz became standard. Apple is doing 1179p on their 6.1 inchers for comparison.

There are some open source desktop-like launchers and you can automatically switch to them when you connect external monitor but it's still screen mirroring, not a separate second workspace like dex, nor does it improve stock android multi-window capabilities nor include apps designed for larger screens.

This general is the one that made me ponder the fact that the vast majority of users on this board may in fact be non-white.

You have posters explaining their need for extremely niche and retarded specifications for a smartphone such as running torrents, 16GB of RAM, FM radio transmitters, hardcore gaming (on a smartphone) and other nonsense. The only conclusion I can draw is that a lot of this general’s patrons are impoverished Eastern Europeans, Indians or some kind of Brazilian-Bantu mix that do not own a laptop or desktop and therefore must do all of their general computing on their Yu Zhao Brilliance 70.

Because why do you NEED to buy a new phone every 6 months (as you proclaim). Unless you're filling your phone with absolute junk, it'll last 5 years no issues.

The only problem is that Android (and iPhone) system apps updating bloat the fuck out of the "essential"/system apps in the attempt to planned obsolence you.

I got used to large phablets during the early days (Dell Streak, Note series and so on), so it's not much of much of an issue anymore kek

i have exactly average hands and don't find the s24+ too big. if i was a woman though it'd probably seem too big and unwieldy. i wouldn't want any bigger though, this is the absolute limit phones should be at size wise at least in my opinion.
>>
>>102369078
The phones I've had back in the day were 3.8 inch (3:2 ratio), two 5 inch phones (16:9 ratio) and one 5.2 inch phone (again 16:9). I jumped straight up to 6.5 inch in 2019 with my first 19.5:9 phone, then a 6.7 inch one in 2022, and most recently I've downsized to the 6.1 inch Galaxy S23 and it's just as comfortable as those 5-5.2 inch phones I had back in the day. Almost the exact same body size as my 5.2 inch phone in fact.
>>
>>102369148
Yeah obviously everyone has a different perception of what's comfortable to them. I guess what I do with them has heavily molded my preferences. I mean it's a separate workspace from main screen, you can use both simultaneously and compatible apps use different UI on DeX than on main screen. Most apps can preserve session when re-launched on another screen but some apps restart from main menu.
With desktop-like launchers you get same workspace with same apps on both screens simultaneously.

No one needs it. Mainly because SD is shit, and the sound quality on Bluetooth suits everyone.

In practice, SD slows down android by the very fact of its presence in a phone. It's been like this for 15 years.
Google couldn't do anything about it, plus stupid users tried to install applications on slow SD.

I still don't see the point of having an SD card slot if you can't put apps on there. Not that I need one with modern phones having 256GB or higher, but back in the day I explicitly wanted one to be able to install apps on it. Later I just repurposed it for music and ROMs, but was questioning it's usefulness at that point.

I have too much issue with keeping bluetooth headphones because i'm retarded, and sd card is soley so I could put a bunch of music on my phone, and emulators for games, save photos and I also draw on my phone so the space is something I actually really need. I do have a computer, but regardless it's nice not having to worry about large file sizes bloating my phone when I want to use my tablet outside of the house.
I don't put apps on my sd card, never worked for me and thats dumb anyways

I have over 60 gigs of music on my s21. but I only have 128 gigs, so I'd like a phone with an sd card, thats all.

The android's structure is such that it will not allow you to do otherwise. That's why Google severely restricted the installation of applications back in Android 6.
> Not that I need one with modern phones having 256GB or higher
This.
> but back in the day I explicitly wanted one to be able to install apps on it
Because the storage on the phones was small, that's all. Now only apple has a shitty 64 gb variants, 128 is already "more or less enough", and the norm is 256. Funny, but out of NOT $150 phones for India, only Google makes 128 gigs, which shows the essence of this rotten company.

Pixel is a developer kit, not a smartphone for daily use.

I guess our cell plans are marginally cheaper than the US? Except for the fact they're incredibly jewish and for 15 euro a month you only get 10 mbit speed on your ""5G"". For 18 euro you get 100 mbit, and only aaaaall the way at 31 euro you get uncapped 5G speeds. I pay 10 euro a month for a prepaid instead of a contract, and get 20GB of data with uncapped 5G speeds that also stacks up so I have around 400GB currently.
Still incredibly jewish. From what I hear in Germany you can get uncapped unlimited plans for 10 euro a month or something.
>>
>>102374592
The US cell band availability is way out of whack with the rest of the world. It might be the case in Canada too, but the cell bands that we use here rule out a shit ton of good Chinese phones as potential daily drivers. The phones tailored for the US tend to suck. The Galaxy A15 5G is good for the NA market, it's not good anywhere else. The cell phone bands are a big big problem here that take away a lot of Americans' choice in what phone to get

>>
>>102375295
You can't really make sense of motorola's lineup because they're so fucking chaotic, but two years ago they had the edge 30 ultra which was a proper ultraphone, last year they didn't have an ultra but the edge 40 pro was their flagship phone that year, and then this year the 50 pro is more of a midranger and the 50 ultra is arguably not even really an ultra phone.
Oneplus' and xiaomi's flagships are just the brand name + a number, I remember the xiaomi 14 getting a fair amount of buzz and the oneplus 12 was well received.
Huawei's flagships are the mate series but huawei is arguably too cucked by restrictions to make a proper flagship.
Sony has their xperia 1 series, obviously.
Google has the pixel pro phones, which now include a smaller variant.
And that's as far as I'm willing to list them, I'm getting tired and it's late.

I wish Samsung kept the A70-series phones. They could've made them be the Ultra of the A-series, with the largest screen, smallest bezels and square corners. Slap a Snapdragon 7-series chip inside and you've got a winner phone for the $500 price point.
>gonna eat into FE sales
FE buyers want the newest Snapdragon 8-series chip, so they'd still go for that phone instead of one with a less powerful 7-series chip.
Also, reminder that Samsung actually did make a Note 10 Lite, which is very close to what I'm talking about here. Too bad the Ultra branding makes it impossible for them to make a smaller or cheaper version of it, becasue it's meant to be the top of their lineup, while the Note was a whole different group of phones to the S-series.

TLDR:
>Advice on fitness watch and smart ring for HIIT training
>Also ranting/getting shit out of my chest.

I know that for wearables, this is not the correct place to vent and ask for advice
However I need to get this out of my chest:
I am currently doing an EMOM workout with a kettlebell.
Every minute, on the minute. I aim to do three exercises for one minute each in every cycle.
I am for 30 minutes before I increase the repetition in each cycle and start from about 12 minutes. This aims to maximize strength and endurance and it helps me get everything out of the weight as I am currently poor, have not enough time as I spend it in an accelerated apprenticeship with a company that forces me to commute up to 2h a day and I also need time to review class notes in addition to my goal of teaching myself Full-Stack development with C# and angular as a foundation to change departments at the end of apprenticeship if necessary.

While also sometimes visiting friends to not lose it altogether.

My SmartWatch (Samsung Galaxy watch 6 classic), was not able to properly record the heart rate changes in my workout. It jumped in one second from 150 to 172bpm.

This irks me, because I use this watch to help me understand how much cardio training I need and have a reasonable trend in understanding on gauging when I should take the whole week off to fully recover and smash my PRs.

I want to know what you guys think of Garmin watches for those kinds of workout and if you know of health connect compatible Chinese smartrings or watches that can record what I need accurately enough.

For now I have to save up some money, maybe the company finally processes the cooperation with a gym service to subsidize visiting a gym partner to workout at a place near me.

This would allow me to cancel my gym subscription while still working out to compensate from having to sit mostly.

You can get a camera and a screen for cheaper but sure it'll probably be ok

But no one will ever make it. I can explain why if you interested.

> Why would developers need top of the line camera?
Google doing what it wants they don't care about user experience.
They have (bought) team that can make good photo proceedings. They made it.
Remember pixel 4 with this face id? That's went nowhere.

There's actually 2 ways i can lower the cpu performance, there's one in battery>power saving and then that light usage profile in the advanced settings.
Turned both on and honestly don't notice any difference in the general use.

The screen is amazing btw, but it requires some getting used to after having your eyes adapt to computer screen. I feel different while watching the phone screen.

I even play games with power saving mode. Also the gaming hub setting set to power saving instead of balanced/performance. Star Rail and ZZZ run fine like this and the phone heats up less and drains less battery. Also on the S23 256GB

I think you can do that with Termux X11. there are some videos of people doing that on youtube. you basically end up with a regular Linux desktop.

Best camera phone, for videos specifically, under 300?

whats a good android phone/company that won't spy on me? i'm an ifag that wants to switch back but google is worse than apple with privacy so its not an easy choice

It's not TRUE support like iPhone support. I'm on an iPhone 11 and yet I'm running the latest iOS 18, Android "updates" are just the basic essential security updates. Nothing substantial, not even anything notable.
>>
>>102381498

didn't notice this one, i only play casual games and the sd 8 gen 2 can steamroll all of them with ease no matter how hard you cuck the cpu

7 years of OS updates on Pixel. Yes, this includes both version and security updates.
