My good old Logitech Performance Mouse MX started double clicking for the third time in over 10 years, so I upgraded to picrel thanks to the advice of a /g/ay here and I'm quite happy with it. Silent click is really good. Hopefully this one doesn't double click.

something like this but wired? maybe swapable like those keychron keyboards.
>>
>>102410580
I don't have that one, but I found out the hard way that the M220 is much better than the M590.

The latter has trouble keeping the battery in place at the slightest shock, AND the scrollwheel is dogshit that will scroll when you least want to.
I can fix the battery by adding some tissue to prevent the battery from moving and temporarily lobotomizing the mouse, but the wheel is really a total downgrade from the M220.

I hope they fixed it in the 650, because receiving a paraplegic mouse when I thought I was getting a better model, really pissed me off.
>>

got that mouse few weeks back, silent clicks are great
apparently if you scrolll down harder wheel spins fast.
>>
I use the exact mouse you use. I've used it for nearly a year now. I never turn it off and I am yet to change the AA battery, it's at 1.01V right now.

I love the silent click.

this seems to be a very common problem, and one of the reasons i hate these rodents. after blowing money on supposedly "reliable" yet expensive mice in the past nowadays i just buy those cheap perixx ps/2 mice on amazon and when they break throw them out.

>nooo dont throw them away! repair them!!
how about making something not-shit instead? every single one of my keyboards lasted for 20 years and-counting, still workig flawlessly. not a single mouse lasted me more than 3 measly years and that's being VERY generous.

>>
>>102412039
The trick is to just find a mouse with a shape that feels comfiest for you and then replace the buttons with ones rated for 10+ million clicks, and then keep replacing them when they eventually go bad. A single mouse could theoretically last you the rest of your life this way.
>>
>>102412039
exactly, a waste of time AND money. this single-handedly motivated me to use mouse-less window managers like i3 for linux just out of pure spite.

I soldered them when stock switches started misbehaving after a couple of years. got a small bag of kailhs on aliexpress - it will probably last me a lifetime. also, a set of universal teflon mouse glides.
some would probably question repairing/modding a $5 mouse, but I do it mostly for the satisfaction of fixing something. it's very easy, and it feels good.

switches are mechanical parts, and all mechanical parts wear out. they are basically consumables. it's up to you whether you consider an entire mouse a consumable or just the switches.

Not him and not my picture as well, but these are the two mice i have.

G 502 Hero wired:
Was well working until it started double clicking, making work almost impossible.
Mechanical switches are the problem here. Simply worn out over time.
The major problem with modern mice is they run on lower voltages than their early optical counterparts that had a much higher voltage.
When the switches start wearing out they are in combination with low voltages producing double clicks at a much earlier state of wear.
Logitech counters this by building in an internal signal processor that interpolates these double clicks.
It's like creating a problem (too low voltage) to then counter it by implementing a chip with error correction.
They went this route of downspiral because of all the wireless-fags demanding wireless mice with longer and longer battery time while also constantly reducing weight.
And since they also let their wired mice run on too low voltages, hese are also ridden with the same problem, which makes no sense in my eyes.
Un-Logitech.com

G 502 X:
Bought this one about 5 weeks ago and i am satisfied so far.
They implemented optical switches to counter double clicking. So i hope these kind of problems are solved once and for all.
The scroll wheel was better on the G 502 Hero since it had a higher rotating mass and felt more haptical (if this makes sense).
On the G 502 X, it has a rubber ring around it, which i fear will break down over time to simply fall off, rendering also this mouse impossible to use if it can't be replaced.
Somehow these greedy kikes have to implement their "planned obsolescence". I just wonder if it's really the mouse wheel now or some other stupid little motherfucker in the electronics. Maybe a small as a sandkorn diode?
I like mice being more on the heavier side, so the G 502 X are way tooo lightweight for me. It's predecessor came with weights i could put into it under the undersides hatch.
>>
protip: You can open the mouse up and just resolder on a new switch and the mouse is good as new again
>>
>>102412039
What you do is buy a good mouse, and when it starts double clicking, replace the switch. Yes, you might have to spend 30 minutes fixing a $60 mouse. Most people don't make $120 an hour so it usually is worth your time.

>>
>>102423033

Physically, these optical switches look nearly similar to their mechanical counterparts. If they fit in exactly and have the same solder points and pins is unknown to me, but as i read, they are Logitechs own development, so they might not be available to buy as a replacement item.
And the most differentiating thing is that while a mechanical switch is closing a circuit when pressed, the optical one is breaking the circuit by mechanically pushing a small marrier between light emitter and the receiving sensor.
If this is then vice-versa'd internally in the siwtches housing (if you take an Omicron switches housing as an example, is unknown to me.
But the idea of replacing worn out mechanicals with optical ones sounds like an overall good concept to me.

Logitech calls these optical switches "Lightforce" goooooooooooooogle them, you may find more info on them.

Holy hell ballz, Logitech's "quiet click" mouse buttons are like orgasms with every click. I'll never fucking go back to a mouse with loud ass clown clicks again. Why this technology is just starting to become mass produced is beyond me.

Also, being able to switch between detent and hyper scroll is another added fucking orgasm with the mouse wheel.

Then there's Logitech's fucking awesome mouse software that is so unbelievably customizable.
>>
>>102426694
Had pic related for years. Ergonomically by far the best mouse i have ever had.
The laser though was a bit bitchy. When the lens got a bit dirty, the mouse coursor occasionally jumped. but otherwise it was a really great mouse.
Could make this heavy as fuck with the additional weights and the adjustability was a dream.
Sadly, this mouse became useless when it started to doubleclick after like seven years of daily usage.
I wish they would still make this but MadCatz got bonkers years ago.
It also had an incompatibility under macOS since it made you to always extra click on every sub menu in the menu bar. So it behaved a little crazy. But unter windows, it worked like a charm.
When this died, i bought a Logitech G 502 hero but that held up only two years and then i bought the G 502 X with optical switches.
