>Why?Ergonomics: you can adjust each half separately and your fingers can easily move up and down columns>How to pickDo research. There are plenty of options.Look for an active community.Look for customizable firmware (e.g. QMK or ZMK). You will want it for configuring layers and home row mods, especially on small boards.Look for tenting. It can make the keyboard a lot more comfortable. Low-profile and low-force switches are better. Consider portability so that you don’t have to leave your comfy keyboard behind. Don’t worry about key count. Layers and home row mods are easier to get used to than you might think.>recommendationsglove80: great ergonomics. Features a keywell and good builtin tenting. https://www.moergo.com/ZSA voyager: highly portable
*farts loudly*
>>102419595>Zsa VoyagerI get glove80, cause factory built keywells are basically this and kinesis and glove has better thumb clusters (even though kinesis has much more solid build), but i cant recommend voyager over DIY or no-solder kits.
>>102419750Regarding the price difference, I’ll point out that the voyager comes with a lot of accessories. It also has more reviews available, which is good for making an informed decision on it. But you are right, there are a lot of different options for small keyboards, so it’s worth doing more research if you want one of those
>>102419595>glove80>starting at $554 CADI'll be sticking with pic related
>>102420333Holy based. Niche keeb troons btfo!
>>102419595this really didn't need its own thread
>>102420333I can see why a canadian would find the glove80 expensive, but as an American, I have enough disposable income to afford it
up
I have a voyager but its not that great. A big part may be the switches being trash (brown)
>>102421820That would explain it. At least the voyager is hot swappable, so you should be able to replace your browns with better switches easily
i have about 90-100wpm, how much faster can i achieve with a split keyboard like this?
>>102421951Yeah. It is just disheartening really that it comes with such shyte. Got it a week agoDoubting to go for ambient nocturnals or twilights OR wait until sunrise come out
>>102421951I would recommend https://lowprokb.ca/products/ambients-silent-choc-switches?variant=44873426436260. They’re similar to glove80 cherry blossoms which are very nice switches>>102421962Your WPM will go down the toilet for a while, especially if you also decide to learn a new layout. It’s worth it though
>>102421962Not faster, but more ergonomic which is key to long term well beingThere is a video on youtube of a guy who explains it well. Every other video is rather worthless so he should get more credithttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CA00USrhOMc&pp=ygUaNSB5ZWFycyBvZiBzcGxpdCBrZXlib2FyZCA%3D
>>102421977By the way I had a moonlander with mx browns and hated it for a year. Then swapped for kailh silent box browns and it blew my mind how much better it was instantly. Altho i did find those kailh box browns slightly heavier than mx brown which was a downside but still felt a lot better and quieterSo ideally i am looking for something silent smooth and light yet with some slight feeling left (not like a 15 dollar office keyboard)
I posted this pic a couple of days ago.Switched to Lily58 after xd75 around 6 months ago. It's good and I adjusted to it, but I feel like I would like to have more keys without layers. However having 75 was more than enough and some keys I didn't use.
