The phone needs a special screen to support a pen (samsung uses wacom tech for that), and while there might be some compatibility between devices that do support pens (mostly tablets and some notebooks, the s series uses the wacom one tech, which is the same as boox devices but not the ipad and not the s24 ultra). All that said, if you use a pen for your phone you either get a samsung ultra/fold phone or you use a pen that simulates touch (capacitive I think) which is pretty bad in comparison but works on everything.

As long as it has the former it will have a safe spot among top camera phones. With Samsung it's like the other anon said, marketing. 4-5 years is nothing for an Xperia phone since they probably have one of if not the best build quality. You will not get as many software updates as phones from other makers though, I think Xperia does about 2-3 years which is one of the worst.
Other than that, it's a very capable phone - all top tier internals, it can run anything very smoothly without breaking a sweat, its battery life is also one of the best but the charging is quite slow.
The only issue I have is the camera - if you want a good shot, you're gonna have to learn to manually adjust all the settings because the automatic camera is going to disappoint you.

Im trying to root and mod an older phone (moto g4 with Nougat). So I unlock bootloader, install magisk on stock rom and when I try to edit the build.prop file, none of the methods Ive used all my life works. I google it and apparently this is now expected behaviour. What the fug. I have Magisk on another older phone, and I could edit /system without issues. I guess the problem comes with me using v27.0, newest one, cant recall when I rooted that other phone, probably early 2023, with a patched boot image from somewhere else (I dont remember patching it myself nor using the flashable recovery zip method either)

So yeah, how can I edit that file? Is there really no way to make Magisk mount /system as rw? Or what module should I use then? There are like 3 online available, all seem unmaintained. I dont care about "safety net" or "integrity" whatever the fuck they are.

What's the consequences of settling for a cheaper smartphone like the Motorola Goto M24?

I really like the modular approach and the repairability. But then again the support is ridiculously short (2 years OS, 3 years security)

I don't use my phone for anything but the standard text/call, some lite web browsing/YouTube, hot spot tether on occasion and to interface with my OBD scanner which also supports iOS. My biggest concern is how does apple car play work compared to android auto which I use for navigation (google maps). I'm also concerned I'll get it and not like iOS though it's not like I'm on my phone 24/7 so it probably wouldn't matter. I've replaced my pixel 6 pro 3 times now due to various issues and have missed important notifications because they're sometimes delayed on the pizel. I don't care for Samsung and have stuck with google because it just werkz. Thoughts?

Get the A55. It's a prettier device, and has better battery life. 1380 is a 4nm part, while 1480 is a 4nm part. When I say Exynos is rubbish, I base this information on my experiences with S22U, Exynos 2200, which is a 4nm part. I cannot imaging just how bad the 5nm 1380 must be.
1480, just like 2200 also enforces Vulkan system-wide, which in my experience Chromium gets a significant speed boost.
