What's a good free (preferably FOSS) Excel-alternative for Windows? The LibreOffice Calc looks like shit. I don't need much, just basic spreadsheet functionality with an interface that doesnt make my eyes bleed. Nothing cloud based please

win 10 only needs 2 gb of ram, you can run home fine (as fine as 4gb of ram goes fine)

I get the longer support but that's not a concern to me.
>>
>>102431328
I stopped updating after February '24.
Try googling tenforums or something.
I think most problems are still related to the recovery partition size but maybe I'm wrong.
>>
>>102434703
It's not free? Isn't it a part of how Microsoft office etc is a paid subscription now?

Enterprise and Education are basically the same underneath and if you don't care about LTSC's longer life then there's no need to move.
>>

Anon you can just install Office 365 Pro Plus and activate it with MAS's Ohook module and use it locally. Hell you can even log in with an MS account if you want (but you won't get the payed benefits.)
>>
>>102435378
https://gravesoft.dev/office_c2r_custom
After you've done the above, activate with MAS ohook as the other anon said
>>
>>102431827
Just use Office 2007. Last version of Office to only need a serial number with no online activation.
>>
>>102435378
I mean, the outlook email and it's windows app are totally free, other stuff like extended storage are paid but the email service itself is free if that's what you want

If I launch steam with a batch script to set it to high priority, would all of the games launched from it inherit the high CPU priority? I don't want to change the affinity by alt tabbing out to task manager. Any downsides to launching all games with high priority?

Obviously no windows is the best for security and I am going to dabble in Linux as I figure all of this out, but it seems Windows 10 IoT LTSC is my best option for using Windows in the modern day. I understand MS will support it till 2032, but will third party programs? I assume Steam will support Win10 up to that point barring any super draconian moves from the government/MS, but other things as well such as browsers and other apps/programs?
>>
Is there any way to add icons to Windows 10's context menu?
>>
>>102436929
good question, most browsers support OSs way past their End of Support date, I believe Chrome and Edge ended support for Win7 just a couple years ago and surprisingly Firefox just ended support for it this month, so in that front we'll be ok

As for other kinds of software it's kind of tricky, it comes down to how many people will stick to 10, if people keep using it (and many will), most software will keep giving it support

>>102436929
>no windows is the best for security
What are you talking about, nigger? The government certainly has backdoors planted in Linux somewhere, and some Chinese faggot was just found out having put a backdoor in some core Linux software. At least Windows is probably more secure against non-Israeli/American hackers.

>>102437351
Should work the same. Some cheap chinky dongles might not work.

I have an old 2009 hp elitebook laptop that i want to try installing an optimize-offline ltsc on. Would windows 10 ltsc perform better than 11 ltsc on it?

Also looking at optimise-offline's github it seems to indirectly imply it works on windows 11. Is this the case?
>>
>>102437470
Probably just be easier to use Tiny10 23H2

a) highly doubt it
b) I fear israeli/(((american))) hackers much more, and so should you.
>>
>>102437569
There are so many more options for engineering attacks on Linux, given that it's open source. If a Chinese guy can do it, you bet the CIA can too. If you want to be squeaky clean, you need 100% airgap and nothing less will suffice.

>>102437681
don't listen to that bot. never use a custom iso made by some random guy. use 10 or 11 IoT LTSC. that is always the answer. anti-cheat works fine on IoT btw. something tranny Linux distros can never relate to
>>
>>102437916
Is tiny10/11 not open source? What's the difference between that and optimize-offline or debloat scripts?
>>
>>102437681
It's a pre-stripped 10 install stripped just enough to still work properly, made for these kinds of older computer installs. Just look for NTDEV on Archive.

>>102437916
Anon it's trustworthy. It's been tested plenty of times by Youtubers and such so no spooky backdoors.

>>102437990
The dev has a FOSS builder that turns normal Windows ISOs into Tiny10/11.
>>
>>102438018
Thanks anon i think ill give tiny10 a go

Okay, successfully installed win10 IoT from massgraves using the rentry guide from the OP.

Couple of questions

1. At the time of installation, the guide reccomended to let the install take the entire drive, but my drive had previous partitions from the factory win11 install, so I formatted it all back to one empty drive. After install, its set up now as a 100MB EFI, main drive C:, and then the recovery partition at the end, which is correct?

2. I assume formatting the whole drive was the reason I had no wifi option when windows booted for the first time due to no longer having wifi drivers, correct?

3. What are the implications of me setting up the win10 install offline? The guide said to "Click "Domain join instead" and create your local admin account." on a screen for signing in with a microsoft account which I never got. It instead had me create a local admin account, which I assume is what it would have done anyway following that part of the guide, correct?

4. After porting over wifi drivers to it again, I ran windows update and installed everything, but didnt see anything relating to any specific drivers to my devices hardware. Running some tool on lenovos site only detected needing to update the driver for the shitty AMD adrenalin software - did the PC auto pull and apply the drivers for everything else somewhere without me seeing? How did AMD adrenalin even come on my fresh install?

5. Instead I used the manual download of drivers for my model on Lenovo and installed them all, however each one says for windows 11 and nothing about windows 10, but all installs went fine. Is it fine though? As far I could tell there were no descriptive messages after installing any of the many drivers.

Always let Windows take a whole unallocated drive for install for the least headaches. Best way to do it is to open the Shift+F10 prompt to use diskpart to clean the target drive so no partitioning data exists
>2
The default wifi drivers are installed/set up while Windows is installing among other default drivers. If you didn't have any internet at all no matter what during OOBE then you just need to get a wifi driver from your OEM's support page and install it. Install it to and take it off your phone if that's viable.
>3
Installing offline just means that any kind of MS "enrollment" doesn't take place unlike if you go through the OOBE with a net connection. Though don't worry, using "local domain join" is what you gotta do if you want to use a local account (which you do.)
>4
Windows Update does usually pick up some drivers to install if it notices the need, but if it isn't picking up much at all it might just be because you're using an OEM that had 11 on it first so all drivers made for it are technically for 11 and not for any kind of 10 install.
>5
If you installed the drivers for your OEM model and everything went through correctly and the different parts work as expected, you shouldn't worry IMO. There's also the tool Snappy Driver Installer Origin which you could try in the future which grabs driver packages from a big archive that it notices you could use.

Easily: service host consolidation was a hack invented for Windows 2000 so it would run (read: crawl) in 32MB RAM. Now that Windows doesn't have to run in $6-microcontroller-from-Alibaba amounts of RAM, we can split them out into one process per service, and enjoy the stability improvements: your shitty third-party gaymur mouse service crashing doesn't take out 10 perfectly innocent and unrelated services running inside the same svchost.exe.
Further, the low-IQ always pretend this isn't configurable: if for some reeeeeeeee-look-at-me-I'm-a-poor-victim reason you are trying to run Windows 11 on your Vista-era Athlon 64 with 1GB RAM, Windows has a threshold value to re-enable this cheap and nasty hack from 1998.
Just because the low-IQ don't understand any of this, isn't anybody else's problem but yours.
