how does trademark work for open source projects like qbittorrent and bitcoins (they have a site and a logo)? I know it's open source and anybody can contribute but not anyone can just claim they have the real qbittorrent except.... how tf does this work?
top: frontendbottom: frontend state management thanks to PMs and retard users requesting features non-stop and never giving time to refactor or optimize code
>>102446666no one is stopping you from forking e.g. qbittorrent and then marketing it as if it is qbittorrent. you're just going to have an uphill battle ahead of you trying to differentiate it from the real qbittorrent.
>>102446732it can't just be that anyone can impersonate www.qbittorrent.org and just take over the qbittorrent identity. That makes no sense.
>>102446797yes it can be. it's a numbers thing. there's just not enough bad actors out there. look at it in terms of sets>number of people that can code>number of people that can code well enough to work on an open source high class torrenting application>number of people that can code well enough to work on an open source high class torrenting application that instead of writing their own from scratch will fork an existing one and are petty/vindictive enough to market it as the REAL high class torrenting application and are willing to undergo all the work to win over public opinion
