Why do Zoomers keep lumping Y2K Futurism with Fruitnigger Aero?
Blow me
>>102468235I do that even as a millennial. Frutiger followed up on futurism, nothing came in between and heavily influenced each other.>noo its different! It just is bro, trust meI do not care.
>>102468235They have stylistic overlaps
>>102468258This. As a zoomer though I've been trying to promote Y2K more because Frutiger is a more specific sub-theme of Y2K and tacky but became the name for the trend. In an alternate timeline flatshit never became a thing and Y2K was only expanded on.
fruitnigger is so disgusting, I hated that shit back in the day so much and now some underages pretend to be nostalgic about it lmaooo
>>102468235What happened during 2002-2004?
>>102468235Because they are so similar and most zoomers who care about early 2000 aesthetics were born around 1995-2000. They are cognisant enough to know how different the internet and techspace was back then compared to now and in the grand scheme of things Y2K and Frutiger blend in with their early childhood when playing flash games.

>>102468235Because only the people that weren't alive in 2000s use the phrase frutiger aero.

>>102468235>Contrarian zoomer discovers that artstyles change gradually over time
Frutiger is a beautiful crafted family of fonts, as is Times and Helvetica (and Optima, Georgia, Futura, Palatino, etc). But like with anything, oversaturation can lead to aversion.
>>102468235They both look like corporate dystopia.
>>102468322hot Emo girls and faggy emo guys wearing girls' jeans
You talk like there are clear boundariesEven in the mid 90's there were those CG dreamscapes that would fit well into aero and blue skies in video games. One thing was slowly morphing into another. What you think as y2k is the first wave of tech pioneers celebrating a tech centered future, what think of frutiger aero really is companies taking mid to late 90's designs and subverting it to comfort a new generation of tech users that was afraid of technology and considered cyberpunk oppressive.
>>102470715In other wordsY2K IS AUTISM UTOPIAAERO IS A CORPORATE SAFE SPACE FOR THE TECH ILLITERATE
>>102468322It's called the modern dark age, I'm not making this up you can look it up. There was also not a single good movie or TV series released between 2002 and 2004 they all started in 2004 or later, even anime.
>>102468235y2k zoomers can't distinguish shit.also y2k is associated with bimbo or slut culture. shit like those 4:3 music videos involving 90s to early 2000s anime with fixation on sailor moon or its drawn aesthetic on recent zoomer pop. also lot of them in rap now, y2k pc, in places like ice spice music video lol
Windows XP
>>102470771>5fb.jpgkym newfag>>102470715>cg dreamscapeslol no that's just nature demo gfx in 3dcg>>102468308you're wrong though. y2k was also flatshit but it had early optimism in 3D. even the 3D it had still were opaque (flat). trinity is y2k that's true.frutiger aero is a separate branch that originated with the ISO certification of PNG and its adoption somewhere in 2005 which is implemented in Vista by 2006 and the rest is history. though there was still not much improvement in 3D during this era since it's expensive to do a lot of transparency or "PNG" assets, we had rounded corner glass buttons though during this era which y2k didn't.
>>102468235both are SOUL
>>102468308Please post that image of Portal dude doing the fucking Alexander Anderson pose
>>102468235who cares they both suck
>>102471116We both know by "flatshit" I mean the UIUX disaster that started with Windows 8 trying to make a unified interface for tablets and desktops then stuck around until today because developers are lazy and don't want to design a separate interface for phones/tablets or support high DPI. Shit like a VPN manager with nothing but a hamburger menu, map, plain blue box for "Purchase Premium Subscription", and a gray box for "Connect" all running in a react container with no platform theming awareness as it hogs up memory and CPU cycles in the background that could be put towards an actual productive workload or to save battery life and power usage.Whether it looks "2D" or "3D" doesn't really matter that much to me. I want my UI to look consistent across different apps (or at least the apps put some effort toward having their own personality). I want to be able to personalize my OS to match my aesthetic (and have control over my operating system in general). I don't want my desktop to be a browser kiosk for adware.>>102471370;D
>>102471739Thanks <3
>>102468235all these terms make no sense at allY2k no refers to bugFrutiger is vague as vaporwave
>>102472102Did you also change your own name to reflect your personality better?
Futager
>>102468235Aero is a sub genre of it.
I absolutely despise the Frutitutti look. I know it's popular but it's absolute dogshit. In my mind it is only ever associated with shitty cheap smartphone apps. The beginning of the end.The 2000-2003 artstyle is a little more palatable to me but I'm wistful about it. It just makes me think of a future that will never be.
>frutiger aerowho the fuck came up with this term? this was only a thing in the past couple years. it did not exist before 2021.
>>102472459>Yo Nathan what was that desktop theme called on those laptops we had in high school? It was bussin fr>That's Aero, and the lettering is something called Frutiger Sans

>>102468235y2k era's computer UIs were from the 90s (win9x, XP)frutiger aero was basically y2k applied to UI design because of the inevitable lag of corpo OSdev behind fashion

>>102474333
>>102468235Y2K was on its way out in 2003 and Aero was definitely the trend of 2004-2012.. 2002 had Windows XP but the style of advertisements, video games, and other media was very much Y2K across the board. If you want to use astroshit, Uranus was in Aquarius between 1995 (beginning of the Y2K era) into late 2003. (start of fruitger aero).
>>102472459aero was a real thing. frutiger is the part that doesn't make any sense
>>102468235These faggots don't know what 'frutigger' is, they just saw some TikTok post incorrectly using the term as well and went along with it. It's similar to niggas thinking the Deftones is Shoegaze. >>102468384This. It's mainly a matter of aesthetics to them, they don't really give a fuck about the technical aspects of this shit--like actually using shit like Win7, XP, or 98/95 for their retrofaggotry; or them buying a pre-modded iPod instead of modding their own. >>102471370Phonefag>>102468426>>102470880>Not even making it up go Google it.Google deez nuts, nigga.>not a single good movie or TV series released between 2002 and 2004 FMA Onegai TeacherMahoromaticElfen LiedChobits

>>102468235I have never heard the word Frutiger before this year. I'm convinced that it is a made up term being applied to Aero for some reason.People didn't call it "Frutiger Aero;" they just called it aero.
>>102481193I also think that it's a fairly new concept; I like it.
>>102481193It was coined in 2017 and went viral on tiktok in 2022
>>102468235I miss the translucent plastic from the late 90s-early 00s so much.>>102468711Hey, me too. It's in storage somewhere. I wonder if it still works.
>>102481193>I have never heard the word Frutiger before this year. The Frutiger typeface has been around since 1976. Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
>>102482758I thought it was from the 60s
>>102468235>Why do Zoomers keep lumping Y2K Futurism with Fruitnigger Aero?Zoomer here, I was born in 98. If I think back to that time, the Y2K style fluidly flows into frutiger aero seemlessly, there's no real cutoff.Think back to when you were born and your first years on earth, aren't the themes of the first 10 years of your life kinda squished and intermingled in your mind as well? You can't really tell what's what as a child.
>>102468235Maybe because I was involved with deviant art fags but I don't remember anyone using the default windows look in the 00s, everyone was into using impractical custom skins for XP/Win7
>>102468235Frutiger Aero is better than Y2K slop. Both are corporate but at least one of them was designed for humans
>>102485051Both are slop but y2k was more obvious about it's anti-human standpoints while frutiger aero shows contempt in a hidden way. It's like y2k is telling you to fuck off, while frutiger aero is telling you you can take your meds and drink.
>>102485296Say one more bad thing about Fruitiger Aero, I will smack you with my shoe. You will fall to the ground, on a pool of water which will create a beatiful splash effect accentuated by the sun rays and water droplets hitting the grass in a very humane way
>>102485339You see, a y2k guy would just tell me he won't upload my consciousness into the computer on top of the cool people space ship. Effectively the same thing.
>>102468245I would love to.
