I see no issue with this. I would prefer to pay an extra $100 to go from 16GB to 64GB and have games that only take up 30GB of space than cheap out on RAM and be stuck with Goyslop of the Month games using up 200GB of space. The game will run fine with 16 or 32GB anyway, just don't expect to play with maxed out textures
>>
>>102474954
well if you ever played the sequel to GTA4 (BeamNG) you would know that 16GB is not enough
>>
>>102474954
only if you just play shitty games like stardew valley and code toyprojects, I mostly work on linux kernel and anything less than 32gb ram and 5800X is slow as snail and that's with just linux kernel god knows how much ram you need for llm faggotary
>>
>>102474954
I have 64GB to go with my 5900X. Quake II runs like a dream on it.

What kind of stud do you do?

you have bigger problems that not enough RAMS

If the whole game only needs 50GB of storage space to install the whole game, how can it use up 64GB of memory? That's enough to have the entire game running from RAM
>>
>>102475113
I do this but with my phone sometimes

Sounds like a good time to buy 128GB RAM
>>
Yes 64GB is the (highest settings) minimum in a modern flight sim.

I was going to drop $2.5k on a Zen5 system with 128, but lmao @ my life, Zen5 in this universe is mostly dogshit so 256GB with whateve's good in 2025 it is.
>>
>>102474954
I thought MS flight sim didn't get along with dual CCD parts.
>>
>>102475580
If training times are still as fucked as they used to be I'm looking forwards to the threads of people building 256GB machines and then wondering why it takes them 20 minutes to boot.
>>
>>102475113
>That's enough to have the entire game running from RAM
no it's not, stuff gets decompressed before being stored in ram, so it takes up way more space
for example, a single frame of your 3 megabyte webm file takes up 1.2 mb of space before being displayed on your screen, turning 3 of those frames into a bitmap already exceeds the file size of the entire original compressed file

jokes on them, I've been using the 24/7 idle principle for nearly two decades and have never lost a part to electrical wear. 5 year old HDDs with sector damage were still projected to be within limit for another 2-3 years. 500GB SSD from 2015 reporting 59 WLC

If flight simulator had crash physics it would be so fun. I wish they let you do plane terrorism.

what is the use case for more ram when you have swap/pagefile on a fast and reliable ssd?

so it is true what i said in a post a month ago: "I remember once reading documentation where they recommended something like 1000x your cpu cache size should be your ram size so if you take a 14700k with like 64mb of total cache (l1+l2+l3) is 64gb of ram"

We're back to delegating performances to hardware rather than programming correctly better software through cleaner code.

>Win10 demanding 64gb for "ideal spec"
That's how Microsoft bullies you to get Win11 so they can justify their shit AI products, browser extensions, Bing gimmicks, otherwise the company sinks ROI on AI tech investments.

Time to seriously switch to Linux once and for all. We don't need all the junk bloatware MS preload onto their machines.
>>
>>102477563
So this is the absolute state of literacy for loonix fags. Fucking grim.
>>
>>102477733
No, this is the state of you not correctly reading my comment. Literacy jokes on you anon.

> That's how Microsoft bullies you to get Win11
If that's indeed the intent, the pic not mentioning W11 even once would be a pretty silly error.
>>
>>102474954
Said nobody of relevance ever without context of maybe being in 2005.

Imagine being so butthurt about listening to retards or being too retarded to think for yourself that you create a whole thread that only states the degree of your stupidity and nothing else.

seamless...
don't tell me you expect to see a whole window on the screen at the same time?? Do you even have 256gb ram?
>>

i also do 24/7 on, only problem i've had are fan bearings going bad, hdd's do quite fine like this

well i've been shutting off my computer every night like every sane human being for the last two decades and also never lost a part to electrical wear, your point?

If you have autism and flight sim is the only game you play and you want realistic world textures to the T then sure, get as much specs as you can.

Otherwise you're a fucking moron.
