Why do they keep trying to make it mainstream?
>>102475686>Great VR headset for gaymes>Meta tries so hard to market it as "workstation" device because Applel did it so should we
>wearing an uncomfortable helmet for 8 hours a day to do word processingonly an insane person could think this could ever work.
VR is for coomers and gaymers, nobody else.focus on your actual customers you stupid shits
VR does have legitimate use cases in niche fields, but people are fucking insane if they think Chloe in accounting is going to wear this stupid shit to fill out excel sheets
If it ever gets unified for an interface and to make it even cheaper, VR has a chance
>>102475686>not creating VR controlled cars, trucks, busses, etc and getting a bunch of 3rd worlders to drive themZuck was right about VR tech but missed the goals with the application because everybody thought AI would be able to do it.
>>102475686Childhood dreams are difficult to kill even after finding out they're impractical. Funny enough, this also explains a lot of the retardation in boomer foreign policy.
>>102475686Some people want to strap shit to their face for fun, I don't know, I don't get it either.
the use cases are just so generic or specific no inbetween I know people that use it to design car parts and building interiors and they had to create a lot specific tools to do that. I also know people that use it solely for porn and video games. Also it's incredible how useless the Apple Vision Pro still is. It's a complete meme toy and Apple's feature of using it to watch movies on a place is literally the most useful thing it does.
>>102475686I think it is more of a battle to be the first/biggest in the industry. It is a fairly new industry, and once the technology is advanced and reliable enough it will become mainstream. It is expected that Meta will show new AR glasses on the 25th as well.Snapchat just released developer AR glasses that look promising, but they are playing longer game to figure out all the bugs so it is not really for commercial use yet.The ultimate allure is to replace smartphone with glasses, although we are so far away from it now that the companies that are in the AR game are positioning more towards glasses as accessory/extension to the smartphone. To me just the idea that I can replace a whole setup of computer, keyboard and mouse with glasses that have eye and hand tracking is enough for me to be interested into this. And for the VR/AR enthusiasts that is just a very basic use case I believe
