His PC is like a celeron from 2012. He uses a wifi router he got for like 20 quid. Then he goes on and on about how good things are. He spend 5 and a half hours recapping his motherboard rather than just buying a new PC. Then he has 19 xboxes and 31 other consoles, including like 4 sneses and 5 genesises. He isn't saving any money, he just spends it all on stupid shit and wonders why people don't wanna be around him.

Man the Note 8 Pro was such a nice phone. Felt like a genuine attempt to match it's contemporary flagships at a sub-250 euro price point. I remember reviews at the time talking about how the Helio G90T can go toe to toe with the SD845 in gaming, and there being little to no discernable difference between it and flagship chips on average daily web browsing and social media. Rock solid battery life as well, sometimes 2 days with moderate usage.
The phone took some damn nice photos for the time as well, 4K30 videos as well. Honestly the photos and videos from the N8P looked better than the ones from the Moto Edge 20 I "upgraded" to.
Overall the N8P was such an amazing upgrade for me, coming from a literal who brand chinkphone ("allview") with a random numbers MTK chip, 3gb ram and 720p screen. Only thing it lacked for 2019 standards was an OLED screen and 90Hz, but that was understandable at the price point and considering the beefy hardware inside must've taken most of the budget away.

THere isn't a schizo filter there. Help me out. I want to get a phone I'll be comfortable carrying around. Right now I have a recent samsung that sits at home unless I need a map. But it's full of basedware, the power button brings up the voice bot, swiping the wrong way brings up ads and its full of dizzying and power consuming animations and retarded shit like unable to change default camera. So I think i need a schizo os, but, ordered by importance:
needs to run apk
be small in pocket (current samsung is 6.3"x3", too long)
get data in usa, 4g lte/5g
able to get RAW photo/no ai processing
just werks (do I have to worry about device integrity checks for much stuff?)
cheap
removable battery
headphone jack
microsd
or if you have advice for what i should avoid that's good too.

Haven't looked at phones in ages because I've been happy with my Sony Xperia 1 II even though it's 4 years old at this point I have no issues. I've been offered a free Samsung S24 standard model, do you think it'll be a noticable upgrade? Mostly the cameras

No I don't, that's a shame then maybe I'll pass unless I can upgrade to the Ultra but the size of the S24 normal seems ideal

Is it worth financing a high end phone ? Or remain with midrange?
>>
>>102878869
Because I don't want to take my laptop along. It's going to occupy valuable space in my backpack and I don't intend to spend any time using it while I'm in Japan itself (that would be a failure of a holiday).
I'd rather get some work done during the 15 hours + 15 hours travelling to and fro. Hence putting the keyboard + mouse on the tray and propping up the phone at eye level.
>>
>>102878894
Always buy high end. They are more durable (e.g. Gorilla Glass Victus), feel better to use, and last longer. Believe me, you WILL feel the sluggishness of a midranger after two years even if you don't game. Google Maps can be very demanding sometimes.

I was looking at the asus zenphone 10, but that's been discontinued. I don't really need top shelf stuff since I don't do anything on my phone buy GPS and web browsing while waiting in line. There's the iphone 13 mini, but I'm just used to android and would prefer to stay with that if I could. What else is there?

S10 speakers dunk on modern phones, and it has a headphone jack. [32-bit/384kHz audio
Tuned by AKG] still better than modern iPhones and new Samsung flagships

The screen also holds up really well even now, 1440 x 3040 pixels, 19:9 ratio (~550 ppi density)
SM8150 Snapdragon 855 also is fine for most games
SD card slot is a bonus lots of phones are missing

ALso it's compact and the design feels great without a case
S10 is probably peak phone, only downside is the battery like you said and also no more updates

S10 is mid now, s24 ultra moggs in everyway. Get some aftershock headphones for working out or running around and some noise canceling Sony or Bose for at home no jack needed. S10 is a good size but once you get used to the bigger phone the screen size is nice.

You're literally me. Got the 1+12 cuz I need hotspot all day and the V30 battery wasn't cutting it anymore. I got no complaints with the 1+12 itself, most of its problems are android related, but I still use the V30 casually around the house cuz let's be honest, they are tough little fuckers. I can a shower or bath and just throw it there to watch something. I wouldn't do that with the 12 or any phone because they've all gotten big and heavy and fragile.

I'm really sad LG isn't in the game anymore. The back power button/fingerprint reader is so much fucking better than anyone else's arrangement.

The requirement is just that any device that can charge wired needs USB-C as an option for charging. So as long as USB-C is there, it doesn't matter if any other ports are absent or present.

By the way, the regulation also doesn't apply to portless devices that only charge wirelessly, so portless iPhones are still a future possibility.

I guess I can further understand why more people were turned off and no longer like Linus as a Tech YouTuber as he and others similar to him and his clones are just peak Consoomer. Albeit, Consoomers with better or decent public face, image and PR because they're tech guys and surely tech guys are smarter and wiser than average Consoomers.

Also, Huawei's Trifold phone is innovative? Wasn't it confirmed to be built in the backs of stolen tech which is why it was banned, because dirty thieving commies? Financing as in through a plan? Sure, but it's cheaper to buy outright and get a prepaid plan.

But yes high end or flagships are better than cheaper budget and mid-ranger phones. They age better and the manufacturers throw everything they got into them so you get the best features of the current year. I want to go from Android on one really weak carrier that barely gets any service to iphone on another carrier with a new number. I have two google accounts, with my backup google account being registered to my current carrier. The thing is, so many sites have 2FA that it seems like I will have to have an overlapping period where I have both phones being active so I can switch the numbers on all my accounts to my new phone number.

Does that make sense? The last time I switched numbers was a many years ago and sites didnt have 2FA then.

i'm assuming the new sensor probably is better at being sharp and less noisy at night but really idc about that
that's if you only care about your cam as a tool rather than something to be artistic with
my favorite cam lenses usually are the more soft ones higher aperture
>>
>>102886302
you said you wanted to use a new number on new device anyway, so why would you need to port the previous number to a new carrier? you could just start using the new number on said new carrier and stop subscribing to previous number's plan when you've changed all 2FA accounts' phone number field to the new number. there's no need for overlapping period or anything.
>>
>>102886446
>there's no need for overlapping period or anything.
i wont know what my new iphone number number is until I physically get it from the store, so I dont want to cancel my current shit plan until I have been able to get home and go to all those websites and change the numbers over. Some websites still require 2FA to login with only phone number and not 2FA app (which is tied to my primary google account with google authenticator).
>>
>>102886280

I'm just saying, it seems like I will have to pay for about 1 month of service where both phones are active in order to switch numbers
>>
>>102886629
there is no other way than overlapping plans if change 2FA numbers.
don't you have enough remainder days of your monthly plan to waste anyway? if not, you can always change the previous plan to the cheapest/data-less plan or pay-as-you-go altogether for the overlapping month just for receiving 2FA OTP's.
>>
>>102886760
i dont know how many days i have, but it doesnt matter. What I've read about in porting numbers from this carrier is such a nightmare where you have to cancel your plan and then wait until the very end when everything has been paid off (who knows when) for you to begin the port period where you can actually receive texts. I dont have time for nonsense like that. For one, I get shit service and coverage, that is a fact. For two, tons of people are saying that the recent android 15 update is bug ridden and auto restart riddled. I dont have time for all this. This is why I can just switch to a better carrier and get better service and iphone stability, dont have to worry about my phone potentially restarting on me
>>
I've been trying to get a android 10/11 smartphone, but all the second hand ones I buy (I tried xperia 5 II and zenfone 11) are updated and I cant downgrade. Fuck the eu laws about extended lifesupport.

So I have the dead Dad. Trying to get into his phone. Someone said it would be harder to get into if it was a newer phone but it's a Samsung S9 so I don't know if that changes things.

Looks like options are: contact Google with proof of death and relation and see if Google can do something
-maybe there's a method of connecting the phone to a computer and forcing it into recovery mode?

Got an iphone 16 plus after 15 years of android. It mogs every android I've ever had and I should have made the switch earlier

I don't like the fact it leaves E waste, these phones are perfectly functional but because of the lifecycle they will live in a landfill and I can't even give them away because they have no security or any OS to make them secure for the next person. I'm a grown ass man of course I'm not trying to no life a phone but it fucking bothers me we think this is okay.

enjoy it while it lasts, then reality sets in and you start missing simple Android features that should be universal across iphones like a proper back-button that functions the same across apps, and quick access app settings

You might be able to get into his account on Google with that, get pictures and stuff. But Samsung would have to unlock it somehow. You will need proof of death like a death certificate in both cases. Unless you stole it lmao.

The 1330, 1380, and 1480 are all good SOCs, just not for any price point. The 1480 is good for up to $450. The 1380 is good for up to $300. And the 1330 is good for up to $180.

Only 8GB RAM versions of course. You should not go lower than that.

A55 8/256 can be had here for ~360 euro from a trusted retailer, and you can go as low as ~320 euro from shadier stores. Both options with 2 year warranty if the phone (or a part) dies randomly from a manufacturing defect. Pretty dumb that it doesn't cover any real damage like cracking from a drop or water damage, but it's something.

Yes, I'd rather my phone be up to date for the few years I'd be using it.
Though F5 Pro with Lineage does seem like a great choice, if you accept not having banking apps and google wallet for NFC payments. Not for everyone however, with the need to flash a custom rom on it.

I asked a bunch of people I know IRL if they prefer big or small smartphones. Almost everyone said they don't care, because all phones are roughly 6 to 7 inches anyways, which is apparently the same thing.
What's with people and not caring either way about certain things? How can you not have a preference, are you braindead?
>>
>>102890224
>not having 2 phones, 1 big and 1 small

>>
>>102890242
What use does a big phone have that can't be done on a tablet or computer? Small phones have the advantage here, by being easier to use one handed while doing other shit.
>>
>>102890263
If I'm at home or if I go somewhere very chill I bring my big phone, I can carry it in pocket, to the toilet, to the dining table, it's almost as convenient as a small phone but not quite. Yet wayyyyyy more convenient than lobbing around a freakin' tablet with you.

I use my small phone when I go to work or if I go outside somewhere active, where I prefer the convenience and probably won't be doing much on it besides youtube/email/calls and light browsing

iPhones suck but you guys are retarded. iPhones do have a file system and they can play flac files. Just download a music player from the app store and use something like Google drive to transfer your music over. It's literally made for kids and you guys can't figure it out. Typical /g/ being full of noobs. Basically the number one reason I would never to /g/ for any advice. Misinformation is easier to find than actual facts here.

When you put it this way, it actually starts looking competitive. It's up against phones with the SD 8s Gen 3, 7+ Gen 3, 7 Gen 3, 8+ Gen 1, MTK Dimensity 8300, and various apple chips. There's a ton of music players that can import music files that are in your file manager. You can download any music file with the safari browser or something like Google drive app and get your songs from there. Okay, Im done with using the Google Pixel with GrapheneOS. Too much inconvenicence.

What do you recommend for someone who was previously a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 user? I heard they discounted the note series and that S4 Ultra is the new hot thing. What I don't get is why Samsung is selling a phone that is about as expensive as an iphone. The main gimmick I liked about Android was not having to pay out the ass for it.
