W-what happened to the thread?
>>
>>102897367
Just got 404'd randomly for whatever reason. Whatever I guess.
>>
Asking the question from the previous thread (what happen??)
I need to install MS Office on my sister's W11 laptop, what version can and should I install?
>>
>>102897433
Does she only need certain modules? You could go the Office Deployment Tool method and just pick and choose what she wants via either 365 Apps for Enterprise or Office 2024 LTSC.
>>
>What version should I install?
W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
-10 years support on IoT LTSC, EoL 2032
-5 years on LTSC, EoL 2027
-LTSC releases are binary identical to Enterprise except no MS Store and no bloat apps
-If you need MS Store run this in cmd: wsreset -i
-ISO: 4.5GB

W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024
-EoL 2035
-Only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
-Same UI downgrades as regular W11
-ISO: 4.8GB

W10/W11 Home/Pro/Edu/Enterprise
-Avoid
-Only 1.5-2 yrs support
-No control over updates
-Preinstalled bloatware apps (games, music, news, weather, onedrive, start menu ads, etc)
*W11 specific
*Massive UI usability downgrades
*Removed features and reduced performance in Start, Taskbar and Explorer
*Recall bloat (ARM)
-ISOs: 6.4~6.6GB

Massgrave's Office download section has a guide on how to set it up. Then activate it using MAS's Ohook module.
If she wants Access then you need 2024 Pro Plus LTSC.

uupdump.net safe for downloading old Windows 11 versions?
Heard about 24H2 having problems for some systems for older hardware, so want to try 23H2. Currently on 22H2 with 'unsupported' hardware.
Trying to download the iso directly from MS gives me only the option for 24H2.

You don't need to debloat if you are using IoT LTSC and know how to use gpedit plus OOSU.
Debloating and tinkering with iso images is waste of effort because Windows is what is, you can't fundamentally change the way it has been built.

just got a dual monitor setup, it has its advantages but also causes some nuisances
is there any way to make windows automatically shift window focus based on what monitor the cursor is in?
so basically:
>2 monitors
>each has their own "top" window
>when i move the mouse between monitors the window in focus automatically switches to the other monitor's "top" window
even better would be
>2 monitors
>each has their own "stack" of windows
>when i move the mouse between monitors the window stack automatically switches along with the focus
>the difference here being that the "stack" affects the alt-tab menu as well so it's separate for each monitor
though the latter is probably less likely to be possible so i don't care as much
i would however like a solution to automatically switch between "top" windows when moving the mouse

My omega-conspiracy-mind believes that winget is that foot in the door they want, they're aware that many of us who debloat and firewall them away, will also be in the market for a tool such as winget. If you have to open up the ports to allow windows to work, then you also open the door to WinStore. Further windows products, "~apps~," meanwhile they get their sweet juicy data out of whatever poor little blown out pinhole you have allowed to be open to their sleeper monster hog.

You need to check the configuration of the exact drive you're using, and check the compatibility for the mobo you're using, not just that it will work, but that you have it in the right spot. or that the lane it's in will work when other lanes are filled with certain other things.

Do you have the Nvme Drive in an m.2 lane? Pcie express? USB? Sata? Is the ISO mounted to the dickroot? Check that you don't have raid mode or something turned on, my BIOS has a page with like 5 NVME SSD options. I've never had to download drivers to get a fucking storage device working. Check with SDIO anyways for missing drivers after checking with CrystalDiskInfo, install drivers then run DiskInfo again, make sure that it's being registered by the system properly, maybe use CrystalDiskMark to test the actual operation of the drive.

Hello everyone, I hope you guys are having a nice day.
I haven't been really keeping up with the Windows 11 cycle until now but I know that an LTSC version has been released, I did try the leaked 26100 build and it was surprisingly pleasant compared to how bad people talk about W11 in general.
So anyway, hows the current LTSC release? Any egregious bugs? If you also tried 26100, is it any different? Any meaningful bug fixes or feature introductions?
Thanks.

From what I heard from anons that've used the open beta ISO to now the monthly updates have made the OS feel mostly more snappy overall. The final ISOs for LTSC/IoT LTSC 2024 were released at the start of October, with them starting at 26100.1742 which'll install the October update when connected to the net. Currently all Windows 11 versions receive the same monthly updates.

I tried Win11 LTSC 24H2 on my old 2016, ~720p Asus Laptop, with i5 U series CPU, 8gb DDR3 RAM, a teeny 256gb SSD (actual SSD wow) but it ran like shit, major MAJOR latency. Just decided to run archinstall on it, KDE, btrfs filesys. Why should I consider 24H2 on my beefy big boy system? I don't know shit about AMD CPUs, but if your CPU and motherboard are supported by Windows 10 LTSC 2021, absolutely go for Windows 10. The laptop I use at work got the Windows 11 updoot, and it got very slow. The UI shit is not only annoying but also slow as hell. It's a humiliation ritual.

Recommended and trusted USB fingerprint reader?

Need to buy my mum a new computer. She has a nice monitor and desk setup. Windows is already botnet so who cares, I think she'd like the convenience of Windows Hello fingerprint login, especially as sometimes she sits with other people at the computer and I tell her to sheld her password from them and it's awkward. But also just for her own ease.

I thought I would have to buy a laptop and set it up as desktop in the corner as desktops don't seem to have fingerprint readers. But apparently you can just attach one via USB and it does the job? That'd be great...as long as it isn't a chinese hardware 'botnet' (some kind of malicious hardware, siphoning her fingerprint and phoning home). I know that's unlikely, but still, the possibility worries me. So, know of any safe ones?

>go for Windows 10
I am running Win10 LTSC 21H2 on the desktop. It runs very well.
I heard that there is a performance increase for Ryzen 3000 CPU's up through the current gen. With more performance being unlocked for each newer gen. I have a 5600x, and I'm wondering if that extra performance will be worth all the shit I'm going to have to strip out debloat and replace. I also unironically like the UI the way I now have it configured, I hate the rounded edges but ik it can be system32'ed (deleted)
>>
>>102917835
To me personally, even if it had some performance increase, it would be outweighed by the performance decrease that comes from having to use a clunky and slow UI that I genuinely hate looking at. But again, I don't have a new CPU. There's no harm in trying it out and seeing it for yourself. If you can't feel the performance increase, then it's probably whatever.
I also hate the rounded corners with passion, but I'm not going to rice Windows 11 just for it to break and go back to how it was after an updoot that comes out a year later.

it's just the successor of the Embedded edition, just a barebones Windows, it lacks a lot of basic apps and services because IoT devices won't need them.

I'm on Windows 10. When the PC displays the lock screen, I can hit any key or click any mouse button to get to the password entry screen. Then, after around 30 seconds of inactivity, the password entry screen gets auto-dismissed and the lock screen is shown again.
However, if I enable
>Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete
via netplwiz, once I get to the password entry screen by issuing ctrl+alt+del, it doesn't return to the lock screen on inactivity.
Therefore, the question is: how the fuck do I return to the lock screen without having to actually enter the password just to re-lock the PC a second later?

Nta, but you're behind by one feature pack. No matter how hard you try, you won't be able to upgrade from 22H2 to 24H2 directly.

I'd recommend just using group policy to force Windows updates to upgrade from 22H2 to 23H2, then 24H2.

Inside search, type "Edit group policy". Then you're going to go under computer configuration / windows components / Windows updates / manage updates offered from Windows update. The group policy you're looking for is "Select the target feature update version." Enable it, and type Windows 11 in the first box, and 23H2 in the bottom box.

Queue up Windows Updates, and you should start downloading the next feature pack. After you install that, follow the steps but switch out 23H2 to 24H2. Rinse and repeat.

You *are* running the insider preview, so I don't know if this will work or not. Never daily drive insider previews, you cannot upgrade them easily.
>>
>>102919920
i installed this in like late 2020 when windows 11 came out. the only options back then were insider previews
>>
>>102919998
*Bonk*
You do not daily drive insider previews.
If you ever think of running insider previews, you need to understand that it has an expiry date. You'll need a fresh install, majority of what I can find in my 30 seconds of searching show that trying to upgrade insider previews are unsupported and highly buggy.
Live and learn my dude.

you can apply a filter after selecting Administrative Templates, the Action menu offers Filter Options and Apply Filter
>Alt+A, O
>Alt+k, Alt+F

limiting to Within: Policy Setting Title can get you there real quick.
or if you hit "Configured -> Yes" and head over to the All Settings folders, you can sort through all the changes from default--to get candy crush and the Meet Now icon back again.
>>
>>102920066
If you're signed into a Microsoft account and it's obtaining a soft license from your Microsoft account, you don't need to worry about licensing. It'll grab your license from your account. Otherwise, you'll need a license key. OR, the license key might be burnt into your MOBO. Depends on what PC you have.

Back up your shit how you see fit. Copy all media files like JPGs and MP4s, copy over all installers. Hell, copy all your drives and even the entire C drive to a spare HDD to make sure you grab everything. I hope you have all the EXEs in your downloads folder.

Reset this PC simply wipes everything out and uses the current version of Windows that is installed. Don't do this, it's a waste of time.

Grab a REGULAR, EVERYDAY .ISO of windows 11 pro 23H2. Make a bootable USB through Rufus or burn a DVD if you're old school (DUAL LAYER DVDs NEEDED). Reinstall from scratch, transfer over your EXEs and porn from the HDD copy, and you should be fine then.

I tried to figure this out before because I needed to change my IP settings which were blocked by the GPO, but i managed to just find a powershell script that changed my IP instead.

is there a way i can override the group policy or something? i believe the policy is domain level because i don't have any restrictions in my user account or on the machine, so i guess it's getting applied one level up.

There is basically nothing you can do to prevent vanguard from reading every single thing visisble on your PC. It is running at ring 0. There is literally no performance boost for a 5600X going from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
If you're referring to the latest Windows 11 update "boosting performance by up to 15%", that's mostly just fixing the regression of performance that they lost from Windows 10 in the first place.
There is literally no statistically significant FPS difference in games between 10LTSC and 11 24H2, unless you're running an Intel CPU with e-cores.

There isn't.
There was a performance drop of ~10% going from Windows 10 to the first release of Windows 11, then another performance drop when they updated Windows 11 to use VBS by default.
The most recent update to Windows 11 reclaims this lost performance and is heavily marketing it like a win.
All the gaming channels on YT have largely stopped benchmarking on Windows 10 because Intels e-core/P-core chips actually do get faster on windows 11.
Windows 10 is still FASTER than the latest version of Windows 11 in most benchmarks and games.

Thread noob here, thought you guys might be able to help me.

I only use Linux most of the time (work and retro gaems) but kept a windows 10 install around to play games.

Recently I booted it up after a while and it was completely unusable because the disk usage is stuck at 100% even with no bullshit on startup apps. It doesn't go down even after 40 minutes or more.

I looked around a bit and after going through tens of assholes saying "just install an SSD" and random bullshit advice like "run scandisk and install the latest updates) I gave up.

I did found a guy on reddit who supposedly provided a definitive fix through a registry hack that disabled telemetry or something, but I was dumb and lost the thread.

Does anyone know what I can do to make my windows machines usable again? This is happening on both my notebook and on my desktop installs. Thank you in advance.

It's just another option. MAS's HWID activation these days is pretty much the easiest way to permanently activate a Windows 10/11 install but some anons may want to activate a system locally without any need to be online, which activation scripts like KMS_VL_ALL help with.

Ladies and gentlememes, server anon here.

Pretty excited to see if I got the right RAM this time, just got a UPS text saying the first 64GB is coming tomorrow. I'll have to have the server run DBAN for the rest of the week though, I still have to wipe the HDDs that I... "acquired." By Saturday, this thread will have its own domain controller / Fileserver / whatever to bork around with. Through me of course.

What's the best normie antivirus software now that Kaspersky's out?
I know the most common answer is Windows Defender, but I'm not sure if my mom will actually accept a free option.
Bitdefender? That seems to be the next-most recommended according to the archives.
>>

Still the very best OS that MS ever made after Windows 2000. Was actually disgusting seeing them backport telemetry into it after they released 10.

You may want to look into ionuttbara's Defender Remover script as well which can just disable the AV suite completely so no more disk usage in that sense. Also also, look into replacing the Windows Search service with Everything Search and a frontend for it like EverythingToolbar or Flow Launcher.

If your mom for some fucking reason wants a payed service like it's better then yeah go for BitDefender or ESET.

Hello friends,

Can Windows 7 be installed on a system with estrogen cores?
If so, can it still be if the E-cores can't be disabled in BIOS?
>>
>>102932928
If you disable e-cores in the BIOS then it'll lose a couple cores but be able to run properly on shit like 7 or 10.
>>
>>102932928
It can be, but on all versions of Windows before 11 the CPU scheduler doesn't see any difference between e-cores and p-cores, so it will reguarly schedule important tasks on the e-cores and it'll make the PC feel sluggish.

I'm trying to enable UDP multicasting on WSL2 via mirrored networking, but with it enabled I'm unable to ping google.com, which throws the error "ping: google.com: Name or service not known". Here's my wsl.conf file below:
[wsl2]
swap=0
networkingMode=mirrored
dnsTunneling=false
autoProxy=false

[experimental]

hostAddressLoopback=true
bestEffortDnsParsing=false

When I enable these settings, my ethernet interface shows up alongside a bunch of others, but it doesn't have an ip address assigned.
How do I get mirrored networking to work in WSL2?

How do we know the ISOs and the activation scripts are safe? Couldn't a Windows update break the auth and lock you out of the OS since it's not legitimate? And does not having a legit auth prevent you from using other Microsoft software and what not?
>>
>>102936077
The HWID activation is basically as close as you can get to being legit without being legit. Massgrave has docs on the methods on their website.

Windows updates are basically a computer literacy test.

If you're too dumb, stupid, or technology illiterate to do a 30 second google to block the updates until you want to do them, you are exactly the type of braindead subhuman normie retard who can't be trusted to take care of a computer. If you cry about something this fucking simple, you are too stupid to even breathe without assistance and need to be put in assisted living. You are exactly the type of brain dead retard who should not have a choice to apply updates. The funniest part about this is that even with everything taken care of for you, you niggers still manage to fuck up your PC by ignoring all warnings and installing 219837387 viruses and 13952598 hobbyist system hacks that break your entire system and proceeding to blame MS and Windows for your own retardation. Forced updates on normie retards are the best thing to happen to computing, it protects braindead retard niggers like you from yourselves (usually), while having a net positive impact on computer literate users because we don't have to deal with most of your self inflicted retard problems anymore. If you need to bitch and cry about this, you don't have the IQ to own a computer. Just lynch yourself and purge your subhuman trash genes from the pool for the betterment of mankind.

i downloaded ISO from OP and put it on usb via Ventoy
during boot I have 3 ISOs to choose from
out of curiosity i calculated the checksum and its different than original ISO.
Am I doing something wrong?
Also I tried booting one of them and it got stuck
>>

Use Rufus, it's the best software for making Windows USB installers plus it gives you options such as enabling local accounts on any version of windows
>>
>>102939189
So you downloaded a single ISO, but you got three ISOs to choose from? I've never had that happen to me using Ventoy unless I actually have three ISOs stored on it.
You need to show a bit more information as well when it comes to what ISO you downloaded from the massgrave index and such.

it's W10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 21H2, first one from pastebin
not sure what else I should tell you
Ventoy, from what I understood, operates on copy and paste instead of normal image writing. Is it possible that my ISO got fucked on that step?
my setup:
>1 SSD with linux mint
>1 empty SSD which is meant for windows
>got an error while writing image that since it's W10 ISO I must use another software like Ventoy
>>
>>102939492
When you make the Ventoy you should just place the ISOs you downloaded onto the main Ventoy partition that appears in your file explorer. The IoT LTSC 2021 ISO I got from massgrave ages ago has worked fine for me via Ventoy installation, installing it to about three computers.
