Hey I just wanted to remind you guys to not be fat. Being fat will keep you from getting jobs easily because people know fat people are lazy and stupid.

>>102905865
This is actually really true. I have done probably thousands of interviews over the years and I automatically discount fat people, regardless of how technically impressive their CV. The minute a fat slob walks in the room I mentally tune out and essentially just go through the motions of the interview and get it done as quickly as possible. End with a "We'll be in touch" (No we won't)
I don't necessarily mean being a bit chubby, but being FAT is indicative of serious character and personality flaws that will cause problems in any professional setting

Ey'up, lads!
Had my last day of work Friday after four years.
Haven't found another place to start at,
so I'm migrating from >>>/g/twg/ to here.

How bleak's the job market?
I've sent off 24 job applications this year (two before getting fired),
had 12 rejections, and three are in active consideration.
With that, I've exhausted all software dev job postings in a 20-mile radius.
Some rando suggested I become a teacher whilst I was walking out of the company building.
The job centre's showing me job postings as a building manager.

I'm going to focus on pixel art and unity for the next 6 months. I'll only apply to job that's related to either easy QA testing brainless shit, social media management, or coding tutor jobs for kids. I dont want to bother applying for corpo tech jobs anymore. As a back up, I'll apply for government job on March and July.

I want to wake up and be focused doing the things that i know makes me happy, than half assing doing stuff. Maybe the real reason i was so unmotivated and spend my waking hours either jacking or napping because i can't see what's the fucking point.

I'll go to /agdg/ and offering my service for just $300 a month. Hopefully i can get something.

>>102905865
I'll try to swim more every weekends and take walks on 4 PM.

>>102906095
What troubles me is my own inadequacies. I spent 5 years in compsci and only ended up getting 2.94 GPA. my parents think I'm a total techwiz and should be able to land any job easily while also juggling doing consulting work. They're divorced and everyday their income are spent on dumbshit, and they want me to take over by helping the bills.

I will, mom, dad, just let me try pixel art and gamedev for now on. I'm tired of webshitting.

>>102910632
Do that, go be a teacher. Any job is better than no job. At the very least being a teacher you can crack silly jokes with kids instead of brown nosing with other adults, sucking up to a manager. Kids love gamedev, you can teach them Scratch or Roblox Studio

That usually means the position isn't open yet but they're going to fire the person in that role once they hire someone else for it. They don't want to tip off the guy currently doing the job that he's going to be unemployed soon.

Follow this routine for the next 6 months

Monday to wednesday:
Morning: study java
After lunch: study excel

Thursday to saturday:
Make any project that you like from 9 to 5. Preferably if you start from scratch instead of copypasting from youtube. Go make anything, mobile app, games, whatever. Use chatgpt to help you, at least it's better than following along on youtube.

Monday to friday night:
Do art project. Maybe start editing videos, stream while playing games, learn to draw, or learn to cook

Saturday night: go out and play with your friends

Sunday: go out and play with your friends.

That's it. All you need to get a job is just java and excel. You can learn everything else on the job. Like frameworks or database.

because work today is completely divorced from the idea of satisfaction and reward, you aren't building anything tangible, growing food you can eat or hunting an animal you can eat. there are no magical serendipity moments that result in enormous gains. it's just stupid fucking keyboard touching so some retard in manhattan can grift another million from wall street. it's completely anti-human. technology was a mistake.

And if you don't work doing keyboard bullshit, you have to work with weed-addled retards for so much less money that you have to live in places where copper wire gets stolen or there are 3am trap parties.

Why don't they have a bunch of really low paid positions and then chop up tickets until they are easily completed by people who can make like 17-25k a year (in the US). You could have a pool of people to pull from that presumably don't suck and just need some more time to learn before they would be useful.

I was under the impression you needed a playpen of people paid low enough that they are not really wasting much money and doing something semi-useful for the company.

Don't let yourself get too discouraged so early. Depends on the company, but at companies I've worked at, it has taken around 5-9 months to fire seniors that had less productive output than a neglected and confused intern. Seniors that are chronically lazy but can still say they've accomplished *something* every week don't get let go until something happens and management wants heads to roll.
Just make sure you're not hard to work with, and you'll be able to get away with being moderately lazy for a really long time.

i'm 26 and i wasted the past 10 - 15 years on the computer and i got nothing except a GED and i dont know how to drive a car and family cant help and i have no friends. i dont know anything about the world. what do I do? im living off of unemployment and savings right now
i've worked retail and food service but i prefer being a NEET. interacting with the public and minimum effort workplaces don't really pay enough and they don't really teach you any concrete skills. besides finding an autist back of house job to afford a used lexus ES and maybe filling out FAFSA next January and trying to go to college idk what to do. i didnt learn how to ride a bike or tie my shoes until i was 20 because it was too frustrating and i always immediately lost at sports

i don't think i'm capable of having a hobby or interest because i never had one as a kid and i always detect that whatever "hobby" i think i'm into is simply a way to avoid my life and there is no joy. people tell me i need to get a hobby but i don't feel interested in anything. i'm basically an NPC

Self employment idea...

Is $3500 fair pricing to set up a wordpress brochure site, hosting, domain, etc? I can use AI to generate content and pages. Then charge $120 a month to cover the hosting price, updates, minor edits and fixes.

I can crank these out pretty quickly, like 2-3 days, but I don't imagine I'll have a very high volume of customers, just a few leads.

Depends.

If you're a girl in turd world your daily activities are either spend getting raped by your dad, brothers, uncle, grandpa, strangers or doing thankless chores (moping the floor, dishes, cooking)

Even if your parents are kind enough to educate you to school or college, once you turn 20 you will get pushed for marriage, being a slave for your husband's family for the sake of your family honor, making your entire education pointless.

Good luck owning a piece of technology other than a secondhand chink phone.

If a woman really want to secure money and power, just be doting and motherly to lonely men, supporting them wholeheartedly so that they may work harder and earn more money, so that you two can travel or pick up hobbies. If you're just gonna either be a nagging bitch or emotionless maid, you're a waste of space.

This is the thing that is the most puzzling about young people. Why are they all convinced that they are so smart?
It's an unshakeable conviction too, no amount of bad decisions will ever persuade them otherwise. If things didn't go well, it's always someone else's fault.

This one was 3, excluding the technical recruiter screen.
I think 5 is my limit. I don't mind having 3-5 if some of the interviews are with people whose time really does matter, e.g. a cofounder or CTO.
I'm the type to roll over, though.

Somewhat relatedly, have you seen Canonical's interview process? They make you answer like 20 fucking questions, almost all of which merit at least a full paragraph response, including questions about your performance in high school.
I got about halfway through before deciding to look up what the rest of the intervew process would be like. Apparently the norm is another 5-7 rounds of interviews even after writing like 5k words about yourself, and even then, they automatically filter you based on IQ tests that they only administer after you submit your essay. Absolute insanity.

Usually 3. Up to 4 in some cases, like this one process I'm undergoing which might warrant me a 18% raise over my last job... Or that is how I understand it - recruiter told me one of the rounds involves me talking to the development team to see if there's a culture match, but it was a bit ambiguous if that was a 30 min call with the entire team or each team member individually. Strange stuff. If it's the latter I'm out.

Learn how to make concise reports with good charts for visualization

That's the most basic skill to get a job. Boomers who work in govt only know about excel and that's it.

If you have solid grasp in excel, move to python and SQL, then learn how to make UML diagrams. Boom, you're a business development guy now.

Tryna figure out if I can make some money by taking an educated guess on who will win the next QLD election. I was going to dump a heap of money into ALP because they were making a gradual comeback. I'm convinced Steven Miles would've won the election had he gained contraction a week earlier. In one poll, he's the preferred premier but the majority of people still won't fucking vote for his party, not even through a two-party-preferred vote. In short, I don't think ALP is going to win the next election. So, I've diverted my attention to what electorates they may win. Katter's Australian Party accidentally let it slip they intend to criminalize abortion. They're allied with the LNP and the party members of the LNP are likely to push that bill through. This appears to have been a revelation among voters, enough to take the LNP from a landslide victory to just barely scraping by. I'm speculating this would have affected the inner/outer metropolitan area given the demographics of people who believe abortion should not be criminalized (e.g. 18 - 49, values personal freedom over government regulation, not overtly religious). As a result, I believe these electorates are going to be at least mostly kept by the ALP. The odds are okay on Sportsbet, you might double your money if you pick the right one. I had checked out some of the more interesting odds on Sportsbet for the ALP, Townsville was at 5.00 and I had wondered why. The LNP had been campaigning on youth crime this entire time and apparently Townsville was the epicenter which kicked off the whole thing. They've been consistently held by Labor since 1989 except for one time in 2012, but given how hard the LNP has been campaigning on something that's actually relevant to the people there, they may actually win it. Oh well, I could always play to double my money on one of the metropolitan electorates.
