Same link, use Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

The dumpster was my company's server closet with 15 years of old hardware, and zero extra pay.
I didn't think this thing was *that* old, but I think it's still pretty decent.

Drives are finally wiping, DBan refused to work but ShredOS seems to work and have the exact same functionality.

I forgot to mention this, but I also grabbed a cheap PCIe to M.2 adapter and a Chinese special 500 gig NVMe to act as the boot drive. I'm thinking of running RAID 10, three groups of two drives, giving me 1.5TB of storage. I've also ran RAID 5 before on an even older server but those drives bit the dust 4 months in.

You screwed up the cpu lookup. It's supposed to be the v4. The v4 was released in 2016. PCIe Gen4 support.
I couldn't justify me taking it for extra pay. Company policy is to recycle/destroy.

Am I the only one who has this issue on Windows?

If I connect to the VPN while an SMB share is mounted, it tanks the performance of the file explorer badly. Thumbnails take about 20 seconds to load. These images aren't in a network share either, they are in a local directory, but the mere presence of an SMB share while connected to a VPN makes everything shit the bed.

continuing, I had to go do some other stuff
I managed to fix my USB stick, I'll explain the issue below
However, on drive selection screen, the installer doesn't detect any drives.
I have an empty SSD prepared for windows, do I need to configure it to FAT on my linux OS so the installer can detect it? I did some googling and someone suggested providing the driver on the USB (Intel RST)

TLDR use terminal
The problem with the USB was that the ISO got corrupted during copying the ISO onto Ventoy (has something to do with how linux manages copying and buffering). The solution was to use terminal for each step: copying the ISO, unmounting the drive and ejecting it. The checksum was correct and I was able to start the setup.
Also, this was the reason for 3 identical ISOs: I incorrectly copied the file, tried again and again, but Ventoy has a hidden trash folder for deleted files, so despite me deleting them they still appeared during boot.

Wonder when I'll be able to update to 24h2.
I once manually updated after checking any possible incompatibilities with my configuration. After updating I got bluescreens and eventually I wasn't able to boot or even restore 23h2. Fortunately, I backed up all important data, so I was fine besides the hassle of reinstalling everything.
A few days after I finished, it turned out that the my WD SN770 caused the problems. I updated the firmware now, but windows still isn't proposing the 24h2 update. I won't do it manually again, as there might be other unannounced compatibility issues.

Does anybody know how to fix the "This app has been blocked by your system administrator." error when opening UWP applications?
I thought it could be an easy gpedit fix but enabling/disabling store apps there doesn't fix the issue.

Further clarifying, the UWP applications were reinstalled using the appx/msix bundles from https://store.rg-adguard.net/ I'm using a custom W11 EnterpriseG image I made with files from MDL. Since it's the G version I thought it'd be just a group policy thing but I can't seen to fix it. I can't open the apps even when using the built in administrator account.

Kinda sucks I only have 32 threads in mine, but better than no threads.

Just an update on things, HDD wipe completed successfully. I looked around and found out that server 2025 is still evaluation only. I'll opt for Server 2022 and run 2025 as a VM.

Anyone know if there's something similar to HWID2 for getting server CALs?

So, I have a Task Scheduler question - I have a small exe that composes a report and sends out an email. It's invoked by Task Scheduler and has been working without issue every day for years. I recently replaced the exe with a modified version, and it no longer runs. Task Scheduler launches, stays on Running for an hour, and then closes (without the exe appearing to run at all in Task Manager). If I run the exe manually, I get the report, so the program itself works, but for whatever reason it doesn't work if Task Scheduler tries to run it.

The main change to the file is that it replaces a hard coded group address with a list of addresses from a text file. I'm wondering if maybe the fact that the program reads a file from disk somehow messes Task Scheduler up.

Any ideas?

There is/was an update to the photos app which turned it into an all in one production thing which apparently shuffled the context menu for images

>>
>>102959868
Gets a list of email addresses from a text file, opens up a socket to a web server, sends an HTTP GET, takes the result and formats / composes an email body with them, closes the socket, opens up a socket to an smtp server, talks to the server and gives it appropriate HELO / MAIL FROM / RCPT TO / DATA / QUIT messages to send the email, closes the socket, exits.

The earlier version was the same except it didn't get the list of email addresses from the text file and instead just had them baked into the program.

C++ using winsock. I'm actually pretty familiar with C++, not so much with winsock, but, again, it works perfectly if I run the exe directly - it's specifically when Task Scheduler calls it that it doesn't work, and only the new one, so I don't think it's a problem with the program.

I was curious if there's some known Task Scheduler quirk with it having problems with, say, a file that it launches reading from disk or something like that. Because this feels like a problem with Task Scheduler more so than the program itself.

If you're worried about file attributes though, then you'll need a different option. Robocopy could work, it has options to preserve file attributes and whatnot.

Also, server-anon here.

It's really fucky, outside of your business Microsoft account, you can't find any official sources for non-evaluation copies of Windows Server.

Ladies and gentlememes, server anon here.

The Meme machine is now open!

I got it licensed with the online 180 day renewals. The wifi card I have from ASUS is atrocious though. Ended up needing to use their windows *vista* drivers from 2014. Made a local admin user and disabled the default admin, then added a bunch of server roles and features.

Hyper-V, client for NFS, Containers, Direct Play, Enhanced Storage, Media Foundations, etc etc...

I'll be getting a 2025 Hyper-V VM running, but if anyone else would like me to do something with this server, just ask!

That made me realize that Titus just went out there and say that Recall is a dependency without actually proving it, and even after being called out, his response video doesn't even show that it breaks FE the way he says it does, and that made me lose a lot of trust in that nigga

can anybody explain how Recall isn't a glaring security issue?
seriously. it's not even about an AI watching you jack off, this shit is looking at your e-banking and all sorts of things that are supposed to be confidential.

how the fuck is this ok? how is there not a single country banning this?
>>
>>102979152
I'm pretty sure AMD's system doesn't require special scheduling like Intel's e-core stuff does.
>>
>>102979407
Its original form was way worse but businesses actually got angry about it and got MS to make it opt-in and actually encrypt the Recall snapshots instead of originally making them plain text like retards. Also you seemingly need an ARM64-compatible PC with AI-focused cores for it to work properly.
But yeah, it's an absolutely terrible idea of a system that is pretty much just a privacy nightmare, no wonder the business got mad.
>>
>>102979408
if you have multi ccds you need gamebar to schedule the cores for you or you have to do it manually with task manager/process lasso.

if its a single ccd aka 5800x3d then it just works no additional software required.
>>
>>102979407
it is a security issue but microsoft is banking in you not disabling several security features like tpm/pluton/secureboot/coreisolation/etc so bad actors cant get it anyways.

I don't know how to explain my issue.
randomly, some time after startup, my monitor will lose focus for a moment. this usually only happens once per boot but I'm very confused what is causing it.
it doesn't matter what I have open, even if it's nothing, it will happen. the best way to describe the loss of focus is that it's like I pressed print screen and the snipping menu and frame around the monitor shows up.
is this just windows taking a snapshot of my screen or what? because it's so hard for me to describe I don't know how to search for possible solutions either.

Windows 11 Pro, has happened since first install, but currently 23H2. cpu 7800x3d, gpu 4070. it might just be the monitor? xv282k acer 32" 4k.

if anybody knows how to stop this from happening or how to describe the issue better so I can search better, it's driving me nuts.

because data security regulations are a joke in the US, however, I still don't think it's some illuminati conspiracy by the glowies, this is just MS trying to win the AI wars with classic MS tactics, they're trying to shove as much AI so after decent AI regulations start coming, they get to keep a lot of their shit

Not all is bad doe, a lot of people are still making noise, Recall is still optional, it's "supposed" to be local only and ARM only (for now), and it shouldn't be on by default, along with "security" things they did to protect the snapshots

Having said that, all those layers of security might as well make it less convenient so it dies faster than Cortana, an eventual win!

I'm building a new PC and was going to do a fresh install of the OS using Windows 11. I have been looking at creating an image with the Tiny11 builder.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdKVph3G6hQ

Thoughts on this for removing bloatware? Should I be able to create the image on my current Windows 10 computer to create this image?
>>
>>102988578
Tiny11Builder basically exists to turn a stock 11 ISO into Tiny11, so if you like that idea then go for it. Tiny11 is a nice Windows variant.

>>102986418
I bet it can’t see because it’s in ext4, maybe reformatting to ntfs will help

why cant we have windows aero back on windows 11 now that our hardware is super powerful and we have stuff like hardware accelerated multi plane overlays?
>>
>>102989749
nevermind, i was looking in the wrong section, found the breakdown in data usage but it totals up to only 760gb, i don't feel like other people in the house can use up 400gb

Could be a number of things, something must be throttling your connection.
>router throttling your desktop IP

Did you do a speed test on your desktop?

Sounds like something Copilot or Recall would do. Check if you have that crap installed.

is it possible to add the news app to the taskbar in win 11 ltsc?
ive the news app installed from the ms store, but the option wont appear...

hey bros, my previous HHD had a total crash and it doesn't boot anymore, took another disk, re-installed stuff and tried plugging the previous one as external without luck, so here I am, asking you guys to teach me how to recover my stuff, also, if possible, link me up to some interesting greasy scripts since I lost ,ine and while I reinstalled the ones I likes kinda want more to spice things up.
thanks in advance bros

I have a doubt. How can I install just Excel and Word (Microsoft 365) without Access, Outlook, Powerpoint and so on?
>>
>>102981084
If you want to be absolutely certain it won't brick, you can buy a cheap license online. That's what I did when I got my Win 10 machine, and the key is still valid for Win 11.

Just use activator from OP-post.
It downloads, installs and activates everything office now.
Use [add] option for single programs.

My dad's Galaxy Book2 is getting a really odd issue. The bluetooth disconnects few seconds after no audio is played. It'll stay connected as long as there a sound playing, but the moment he, for example, switches from one video in one tab to something else, it may (or may not) just disconnect.
This is driving him mad, because I was the one who suggested the laptop because the one he was using was genuinely a really bad experience and I'd like for him to at least use something decent enough to browse the web.
I can only check his laptop when I'm visiting my family so I can't really do a deep diagnosis or try it out to check whether it really is the laptop or the bluetooth adapter in my own time.
What can I do to figure out and fix this issue? I'd appreciate as many suggestions as possible so I can do one after the other when I get the chance.

I previously installed a wrong version of Windows 10 and am now trying to install the IoT LTSC 2021 and then install Windows Ameliorated onto it. However, when I get to:

>2. Right-click the previously downloaded ISO file and select Open With -> File Explorer

>3. Open This PC in File Explorer, and remember the ISO's drive letter (e.g. H) for the next step. The drive should look similar to Windows Setup icon CCCOMA_X64FRE_EN-GB_DV9

>4. Press Win+R to open the Run dialog

I get the error "windows setup cannot find location to store temporary installation files" and the setup closes. What should I do?
>>
>>102995481
Why not just do a clean reinstall?
>>
>>102995558
That's what I'm trying to do. This was the recommended method on Ameliorated.io's guide, so I'm trying it first to make sure I won't screw anything before installing the AtlasOS.
>>
>>102994466
You can use that Change Office Edition option in MAS to just download Office now?
>>
>>102996089
Yes, just did it yesterday.
Whole 2024 LTSC ProPlus + Project Pro 2024+ Visio Pro LTSC 2024.
Use add option, because it deletes other ones if you change instead of add.
>>
>>102996137
Interesting. Didn't know that.
So this is from a blank slate with no Office installed already?
>>
>>102996156
Not sure about that, I tried different stuff before installing it from MAS, but I am pretty certain it will work even without previous install because it just downloads the thing anyway and installs from zero if you "Change edition".
At least when working with 2024 edition.

I made a bootable Windows USB using Ventoy, but when trying to install windows I get "A media driver your computer needs is missing" error. How do I fix this?
>>
>>
>>102996594
Tiling windows is the only good shit it has
>>
>>102996669
Last time I used a Ventoy to install IoT LTSC 2021 I formatted it as GPT/exFAT with secure boot support and I could install it fine, so you might need a chipset driver for your mobo or OEM model if it barely even lets you into the setup.

Does it let you pick and choose which office apps you want? For example, just word, ppt, excel, and outlook?
