Zen typically like the speed to be divisible by the clock of the fabric and the IMC on Zen 4/5 struggles to go past 6000/6400. you can get higher but often it will mean running in 2:1 mode which is slower. the easy solution if you're not memory tuning is 6000CL30.

Windows no longer detects the built-in speakers of my monitor after I upgraded my RX 570 to an 6600 XT. they were working fine with the RX 570. my brother, who built this PC for me, said it wasn’t necessary to use DDU and just told me to reinstall the drivers. the graphics card is working perfectly. any idea what could be causing this?

I just had a suspicion about my ram being faulty and just when I was testing some stuff my PC just turns off and warns me of high CPU temps. So well. I guess my issue wasn't the RAM.
Could be an issue with my pump since the fans are working but the pump doesn't make any weird noises. So what is the recommended software to check my hardware temps while running?

Before I set this PC up I used Speccy but that shit is completely fucked for me now and the temps are completely unreliable.

MSI motherboard and AMD Ryz 5800X3d

Just curious if there is something recomended over Speccy for monitoring otherwise I'll just run it again since at least it will tell me if temps go up or down. When I search around the web the masses seems to be shouting to go MSI afterburner but speccy seems to be the choice here. So which is it?

looking to upgrade to the new 9000 x3ds coming in a few weeks; this is what ive cooked up
i have no knowledge of anything liquid cooling or good cases, are these good options? my current cooler is a 15 year old noctua nh-d15 and its so beat and its fins are all bent

motherboard? there seems to be a shit load of am5 chipsets, but this seems like the only board with 6E and a shit load of usb-c back io which is kind of important
ram is for byod work (android studio saar)

>>
>>102985535
nh-d15 is fine. And yeah "good" am5 boards are kinda sparse as far as the feature set/io is concerned, but there are decent options in the x chipsets . i would check the gigabyte offerings

I'm looking at 1600W PSUs for a dual gpu setup. Most are 210mm long.
TG P3 Pro says that 200mm is the maximum. Why? Are they just being conservative because they expect you to have a pump on the right? Seems like a 210mm psu would fit just fine.

How old is that AIO (is it still warrantied?) Did you have the pump positioned higher than the rad (this is a no-no as it can trap air bubbles in the loop which puts extra strain on the pump motor)?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbGomv195sk
Sometimes also the AIOs don't get their coolant treated at the factory before filling the loop which lets algae/corrosion gunk grow inside and then accumulate in the microfins in the cold plate damming up the flow of coolant like this (MSI did a recall a few years back on some models that fell victim to this):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL9J9XOzvqk

>and how worried do I have to be about the CPU having taken damage after a forced shutdown automatic shutdown due to overheating warnings? Is there a way to check with HWiNFO or something else? Think I am smelling some fried eggs in here.
Your PC was shutting down because it tripped thermal protection sensors to keep the CPU FROM getting cooked. Since you can still POST and get to the desktop it's fine.

>Ok bros what is my next cooler.
Just disregard water and embrace reliable cheap AIR (best dual-tower for the price ATM):
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/zkWJ7P/thermalright-phantom-spirit-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-ps120
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/thermalright-phantom-spirit-120-review
If you must get another AIO, the Frozen Prism is the best deal ATM:

>>
>>102985995
I don't get it. I am touching the pump hub and I can clearly feel it pumping. I can clearly feel the tubes transfer heat and the fans are clearly blasting. The radiator however is kinda chill and the air over it is barely warm despite the cpu supposedly running at 90C.

Hmm, yeah definitely RMA time. AIOs even with coolant permeability should last 5-7 years and are warrantied for at least 3.
What model is it?

>Yeah I will look into it. I might sell off some of the parts and upgrade around this blackfriday. Would you say that AIR is still sufficient to cool the newer 3DXs?
Modern chips typically try to boost as much as possible until they hit TJMax (95C on AM4/5) regardless of cooler, but the 7800X3D for example only gets to 75C under load with a NH-D15 G1 which the TR Phantom Spirit is much superior to, and only 70C in games.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-ultra-9-285k/28.html
The new 9800X3D when it launches is expected to either be cooler or the same temp with higher clocks as AMD is flipping the die upside down to bring hot CCDs closer to the IHS and bury the Vcache at the bottom later of the substrate sandwhich:

What fucks me up is that the tube carrying heat away from the CPU is clearly getting very hot so a lot of heat is obviously getting carried away from the CPU. Likewise the tube carrying cooled liquid back into the CPU is cold to the touch.

Is there a way to check if the pump is spinning properly?

Seems like the pump is working too and there is no way that thermalpaste could make this much of a stink and there should not be any alignment memes going on either. I am making uneducated guesses here but I assume that something must have clogged where the coolant enters the radiator? It's the only way I can imagine it heating up this extremely and quickly while still still having the tube leading off the CPU being this hot while essentially not feeling any heat coming off the radiator. I guess I am taking it out first thing tomorrow morning and checking if I can get a new one out. How long does RMAing parts usually take? Never done it before.

When idling, what does HWMonitor say the temps are? Might be worth repaste/remounting just to see that magically fixes it (I sorta doubt it though).
>I guess I am taking it out first thing tomorrow morning and checking if I can get a new one out. How long does RMAing parts usually take? Never done it before.
Should only be a few days, make sure to request they cross-ship you a replacement so aren't waiting for them to receive the borked one first before sending you a fixed one (sometimes they do a CC deposit to insure this which gets refunded back to you after they get the bad unit).

Looking to buy a desktop PC soon, I have my eye on getting a 7900 XT or XTX

Make sure you installed the bracket correctly. Check the cooler box/instructions and see if you forgot to install mounting offsets.

Ryzen chips have the ccds placed way below the center of the IHS. If your cooler isn’t seated accordingly, you’ll get crazy temperatures swings and cooling problems.

My 7950x3d was failing to be cooled by my NHD-15 until I read the instructions and reinstalled the cooler with a 7mm offset. Literally 40c reduction in temps after I did this.

Should I trade my gaming setup for a gaming laptop.

My current setup
Intel i5 13600KF processor
AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU
32 GB DD4 RAM
1TB SSD
750W power
Fractal Meshify case
Windows 11 Pro

With a G2724D gaming monitor from Dell

And the laptop im trading it for is a Lenovo Legion 5i Pro
.
Specifications:
Processor: Intel Core i7-13700HX (13th Gen)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA RTX 4060
RAM: 32 gigs of RAM
Storage: 1TB SSD storage
Display: 240Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals
Keyboard: 4 zone rgb backlit keyboard
Warranty: Premium Care subscription active until January 2026 for peace of mind

The reason I’m trading is because I don’t game much anymore and I’m moving interstate and need something more portable just wanted to know if it’s worth it. I also have put this gaming PC up to sell for months now and no one is coming to buy it.

if you're building a computer and your goal is games here's the build
you want AM4, 5800x3d and ddr4 ram
you're wasting money if this isn't your template

>5800x3d instead of 5700x3d
we both know who's the real money waster

Are the gray scratches on the Zen4 some oxidation because it's old or is it just some optical bamboozle?

those are probably micro scratches from the lapping process at the factory
